RSVIP: Oscar Countdown, Essence Black Women in Hollywood Lunch and More

viola davisDay Three: Phew, the Academy Awards week checklist is complete. RSVIP picked up our coveted credentials for the Kodak Center red carpet and a parking pass for the Elton John fete. We also gathered our credentials for Saturday's irreverent Independent Spirit Awards, which will take place in a tent on the beach in Santa Monica.

At 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 24, RSVIP took a quick right off Sunset Boulevard up the palm-lined driveway of the Beverly Hills Hotel, and an efficient attendant in a polo shirt commandeered my rental car.

Downstairs, by the leafy patio, a slenderized Jennifer Hudson had her adorable baby in tow during arrivals at the 2011 Essence Magazine Black Women in Hollywood Awards luncheon. Angela Bassett, Loretta Devine, and Viola Davis were also being honored.

"This is very important to me," Davis, right, told RSVIP concerning the event. "Black women need to be acknowledged as often as possible," she said. "There's the business of deprivation of roles, and even when we've done roles, they often seem to be roles that aren't fleshed out."

Paris Hilton Gets A Lexus LFA For Her Birthday

Filed under: Luxury Cars & Autos, Celebrity Shopping

paris hilton and cy waitsIt's long been known that Paris Hilton has a taste for expensive cars especially Bentleys (she once had a pink one). Her loyalty may be switching to Lexus after she received a 2012 Lexus LFA supercar from her boyfriend Cy Waits on her 30th birthday. "My boyfriend got me the most incredible birthday gift!" Hilton wrote on Twitter about receiving the $375,000 bright yellow vehicle. Waits is making major points with the reality star this week, also giving her a ruby and diamond necklace for Valentine's Day.

Always one to mix commerce with celebration, Hilton used the occasion of her birthday to promote her new reality show "The World According To Paris" and her new iPhone app as she held parties on both coasts and appeared on New York television shows including "The Late Show with David Letterman" and "The Wendy Williams Show."

We mentioned the Lexus LFA just the other day for its role in the Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue.

UPDATE: Our sibling site PopEater reports that Paris' new LFA is not yellow but is instead pearl white. Waits presented her with the yellow car as a joke.

Paris Hilton Starts Her Own Motorcycle Racing Team

Paris Hilton has got her own clothing lines, fragrances, records, books, legions of fans and much, much more. And now she can count a motorcycle racing team among them.

That's right, the celebrity heiress has launched her very own MotoGP 125cc team. The venture is called SuperMartxé VIP by Paris Hilton, and takes its name from the dance party series of the same name in Ibiza. The event organizers are sponsoring the team, and when they approached Hilton with an endorsement deal, she was apparently so excited that she bought into the team as a part owner as well.

The starlet won't be riding the bikes in the races, but is contracted to appear at five of the races on the calendar for the upcoming season, which will feature eighteen races from Qatar to Indianapolis, England to Japan and everywhere in between.

Euro Disney Plans Expansion

France could be getting a bit more Disney. Euro Disney has signed a new deal with the French government that gives it the option to build a new complex on some land east of Paris. Through the extension of an original agreement the company now has until 2030 to build a third park adding to the first Disneyland Paris which opened in 1992 and Walt Disney Studios which opened in 2002. The land may also be home to eco-tourism and sustainable development.

The projects could create a total of 70,000 new jobs and be worth as much as 8 billion euros. According to the Telegraph, one of the ideas being considered is a Marvel "superheroes park" but that project may not be started for several years. Other projects for the Marne-La-Vallee development where Disneyland Paris is located include houses and a nature park that will be set up with French travel company Pierre et Vacances. The nature park "Les Villages Nature de Val d'Europe" could generate up to 1.8 billion euros.

Attendance at Euro Disney was down in the first part of the year but it is still Europe's largest theme park operator. The Walt Disney Company owns a 40 percent share in Euro Disney, and Prince al-Waleed of Saudi Arabia has a 10 percent stake.

The Classicist: The Summer of Superstars Borrowing Superyachts

Filed under: Yachts & Sailing, Celebrity Shopping, The Classicist, Wealth

The other day we reported that Madonna has borrowed Russian oligarch Roman Abramovich's brand new superyacht, the 377-ft. Luna, while filming the new Duke of WIndsor movie she's directing in the South of France. The yacht is fitted out with two helicopter pads, a covered pool, spa, medical center, hot tub and 40 staff, including butlers and a macrobiotic chef. The middle-aged Material Girl isn't the only celeb cadging a ride on a pal's superyacht this summer, however – everyone from Brad and Angelina to the Beckhams are living it up on the high seas, though some stars are actually paying their way. Here's the full rundown on the famous folk's nautical hijinks:

1. Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie: the world's most famous movie star couple have borrowed Johnny Depp's classic yacht, the 156-ft. Vajoliroja (above), which as we noted in April is available for charter at $130,000 per week, JustLuxe reports. The mahogany paneled craft features accommodations for 10 guests and a crew of 8, a formal dining room, library, plush salon and outdoor seating and eating areas, all decorated in Depp's signature version of Art Deco Paris meets the Orient Express.

2. David Beckham and Victoria Beckham: Posh and Becks have borrowed their pal designer Roberto Cavalli's iridescent 133-ft. yacht, the RC, which features a leopardskin interior, 15 bedrooms, a gym, whirlpool spa and locker full of fur coats for when the weather turns cool. Supposedly Cavalli only allows clothes he designed to be worn onboard.

3. Simon Cowell: The TV star is one of the few celebs footing the bill for his fun, having shelled out a whopping $975,000 per week to charter the 196-ft. Slipstream. The 12-berth yacht boasts sumptuous leather sofas, mirrors above a giant waterbed, a Jacuzzi, an observation lounge with panoramic views, gym, a sky lounge with a retractable roof and a crew of 14 including a private chef.

4. Paris Hilton: The world's biggest party girl is kicking back on Microsoft magnate Paul Allen's 300-ft. pleasure craft the Tatoosh, which as we recently reported has been put up for sale at $160 million. The yacht, which has a pool, hot tub, cinema, basketball court, recording studio, spa, massage room, gym, games room and helicopter pad, comes with a crew of 30. "The best summer of my life," Paris recently tweeted about the trip. "Our yacht is incredible! I'm in heaven on the water. Definitely the biggest and best yacht everywhere we go. Love it! Huge!" Abramovich's Daughter Named One of Russia's Most Eligible Women with a $3.4 Billion Fortune

Russian business magazine Finans has named oligarch Roman Abramovich's 17-year-old daughter Anna (right) one of Russia's most eligible women, citing her $3.4 billion fortune. Anna, who lives with her mother Irina, the billionaire's second wife, in London, will inherit the cash as part of the oligarch's divorce settlement. Her father threw her a $600,000 Sweet Sixteen party last year.

Anna has four siblings and a half-brother, born this year to Abramovich's gorgeous girlfriend Dasha Zhukova. The Australian reports that Abramovich is displeased at the magazine's coverage of his daughter. Back in May we reported that Anna had been partying hard in London with Will.i.am and the Black Eyed Peas at posh nightclub Whisky Mist.

Anna's no Paris Hilton however, nor is she Russia's biggest heiress; she's worth less than Anastasia Potanina, 26, daughter of mining magnate Vladimir Potanin, who's expected to inherit $3.8 billion. Seven young women are included in the list in total, with combined fortunes worth over $17 billion. Of course exact details are a closely guarded secret.

Billionaires Compete to Get Highest Champagne Tab

Billionaires entertain themselves differently than everyone else, case in point at St Tropez last week when two partying tycoons got into a competition over who could rack up the highest champagne bill. The competitors were Malaysian billionaire Zhen Low, little brother to the more famous Jho Low, and Winston Fisher of the prominent New York real-estate family. The competition to see who could order more £600 bottles of Cristal took place at Les Caves du Roy nightclub and the winning bar tab, belonging to Zhen Low, came out to be a whopping £1.77 million ($2.6 million). That's a lot of champagne.

And among the guests witnessing the competition and helping Low to celebrate his win was none other than the infamous Paris Hilton who has been spotted all around St. Tropez this summer with her sister Nicky.

Luxist Review and Giveaway: Paris Hilton's Tease Perfume

Paris Hilton has quite the perfume empire. The indomitable heiress is releasing her tenth scent this month. Tease was inspired by another showy blonde, Marilyn Monroe. The box features a black and white image of Paris posed as a blonde bombshell. The pictures were shot in Los Angeles by Tony Duran. "I am all about being alluring, but with a wink, and a fun, fresh take on all that is enticingly feminine about a woman today," says Hilton in a press release.

Tease is a good name for this scent, it's not a sugar slam like many of her other scents. Sure, the fruity sweetness is there but it comes on soft in a powdery whisper. The scent starts with fruity notes of fresh Fuji apple, sunny sea mist accord, white peach nectar and Sparkling Bergamot. The heart is full of white florals: frangipani petals, night-blooming jasmine and creamy tuberose. Even the base is soft, winding up with golden amber, blonde woods and warm sand accord. It would be hard to dislike this one, Hilton has called the scent sweet and flirty and it is but like a flirt it disappears before you have time to really consider it, leaving behind just a fluffy warm memory.

The scent was created for Parlux by Steve DeMercado who has spent 20 years in the perfume business.

Sprinkles: The Original Cupcake Bakery

Los Angeles, Ca.-based Sprinkles has been nominated for a Readers' Choice Award for Best Cupcake.

Sprinkles is a favorite of Hollywood stars from Tyra Banks, Russell Crowe and Paris Hilton to Katie Holmes, Oprah Winfrey and Teri Hatcher, all of who proclaim love for the sumptuous treats. "I love Sprinkles Cupcakes," says Banks. "I am addicted to them." Ryan Seacrest is a fan, too. "These are not just cupcakes, they're a lifestyle," he says. Barbra Streisand once sent a box of Sprinkle's cupcakes to Oprah Winfrey. Oprah enjoyed them so much she ordered enough to share with her entire studio audience. Sprinkles is also known for its star topped variety served at Oscar parties.

Luxist readers describe the cupcakes this way:

"Amazingly delicious and beautiful with a variety of flavors."
"The best cupcakes anywhere! Long lines, but worth the wait. Their butter with vanilla frosting will change your life."
"The original luxury cupcake store."
"Their entire range of flavors is executed masterfully, from classics like Red Velvet to more exotic editions like chai latte. The cake is light and not too sweet with rich frostings that balance each other perfectly."

Company founders Candace and Charles Nelson opened the first Sprinkles in Beverly Hills in April 2005. People thought the couple were crazy to open a cupcakes-only bakery in the middle of "thin city" at a time with low carb mania was at its peak. Despite naysayers, they sold out within hours of opening, and sales haven't slowed since. Today, Sprinkles is known as much for its long lines and devoted fans as for its delicious cupcakes. Sprinkles is credited with inspiring a national cupcake craze as reported by the New York Times, USA Today, the Today Show and Nightline.

Sprinkles evokes the memory of European bakeries flooded with the smell of baked goods and awash in natural light, with a modern touch. Its cupcakes are baked in small batches throughout the day, so that they will be as fresh as possible for Sprinkles' devoted customers. The cupcakes are handcrafted from the finest ingredients, including sweet cream butter, bittersweet Belgian chocolate, pure Madagascar Bourbon vanilla, fresh bananas and carrots, real strawberries and natural citrus zests.

Sprinkles offers more than 20 tantalizing flavors (15 or so of which are on sale on any given day), from simple vanilla to creative chai latte. Topped with Sprinkles' trademark modern dots, rich chocolate sprinkles from France or seasonal sugar decorations, Sprinkles Cupcakes are perfect for occasions of any kind.

Sprinkles' famous gift box is a sleek rectangular box that holds one dozen freshly baked cupcakes. The bakery also offers a tray, produced by Heller in a variety of colors, that fits right into the gift box and can be kept to display the cupcakes.

Sprinkles also offers signature cupcake mixes in red velvet, vanilla, dark chocolate and lemon. The mixes are made from the same high quality ingredients used in Sprinkles bakeries and are complete with Sprinkle's trademark modern dots. In addition to Sprinkles shops, the mixes are sold at Williams-Sonoma's 250 stores nationwide and in Canada.

Its original store is two blocks west of Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills, but today, Sprinkles has six additional locations in Chicago, Dallas, Houston, Newport Beach, Scottsdale and Palo Alto. More locations will be opening soon in Atlanta, Boston, Charlotte, Denver, Kansas City, London, Las Vegas, Miami, Minneapolis, New York, Paris, Philadelphia, San Diego, Seattle, Tokyo and Washington, D.C.

Vote for the company you believe makes the best cupcakes. Readers' Choice Winners will be announced on March 1st.

Paris Hilton Sells Sunglasses

Sunglasses are as much a part of Paris Hilton's look as her blonde hair and tan so it's no surprise that the socialite has come out with the Paris Hilton Sunglasses Collection. The line is done through Gripping Eyewear Inc. and features designs in 12 styles with three to four color variations coordinated with fashionable lens wraps and magnetic visor clips. Paris Hilton was involved in the collection's development and worked with the designers. The sunglasses have magnets on the temples that allow the glasses to be secured to almost any metal surface and to Paris Hilton visor clips, eyewear stands and retail displays. The magnetic clips will attach to a car visor. Selected styles of the sunglasses are on sale at Kitson for $150 each.

Paris Hilton's Dog House Costs More Than Many Homes

Last season J.C. Penney built one of their major ad campaigns on exhorting men to do what they could to stay out of the dog house. But if you are one of Paris Hilton's many pets the dog house is the place to be. Hilton recently shared photos of her new designer doghouse on Twitter. Paris's pinkified pet playhouse has two floors. Downstairs there is a living room and upstairs there is a bedroom and a closet to stash the many outfits she has purchased for her small pets. Hilton's dogs, which bear names like Tinkerbell, Marilyn Monroe, Prince Baby Bear, Harajuku, Dolce and Prada, will feel right at home because the mini-mansion, outfitted by interior decorator Faye Resnick was designed to resemble Hilton's own home in all its pink majesty and includes miniature Philippe Starck furniture, heat, air conditioning and even a black crystal chandelier and black ceiling moldings. At a price of $325,000, as Perez Hilton points out, such extavagance might not sit well with the many people in the U.S. struggling to hold on to their homes. But then again, would we expect anything less of Paris Hilton?

Now the super-rich star athlete, who was spotted canoodling with Paris Hilton, has listed his 2008 Bentley Continental GT Speed (above) and 2004 Mercedes C220CDI as well, the UK AutoTrader reports. As we reported back in January, the champion athlete who is moving to Spain to play for Real Madrid after his club Manchester United accepted a record £80 million bid, totaled his Ferrari but walked away unscathed. He drove the Bentley when the Ferrari was scrapped. The London Telegraph reports that Ronaldo will probably also sell his sell his £4 million mansion in Alderley Edge, Cheshire.

Did Paris Hilton Vandalize a Veyron?

Filed under: Luxury Cars & Autos, Crimes and Misdemeanors

Police in Los Angeles have questioned celebutante Paris Hilton after several of her new neighbors' cars were vandalized including a $1.4 million Bugatti Veyron. The incident occurred on Monday night at the starlet's Hollywood Hills house where she's just moved back in following a long renovation. Hilton threw a welcome back party that went on until 4 a.m., causing neighbors to complain to the police, TMZ reports. The same neighbors woke up to find their cars keyed and egged, apparently in revenge. In addition to the Veyron, two Bentleys and two Maseratis were also trashed. The cops are still investigating.

Scott Storch Accused of Stealing a Bentley

Filed under: Luxury Cars & Autos, Wealth, Crimes and Misdemeanors

Formerly high-flying music producer Scott Storch (above with his Bugatti Veyron) has been charged with grand theft auto after failing to return his leased Bentley GT. Storch, who produced hits for the likes of 50 Cent and Beyoncé and partied with close pal Paris Hilton, has fallen on hard times recently and has seen his $10 million Miami mansion foreclosed on.

According to a copy of the a the police report obtained by MTV News, Storch began leasing a 2004 Bentley GT in February 2006 which was due to be returned last month. However, instead of handing over the pricey wheels Storch gave the Bentley to L'il Kim, TMZ reports. A repo company finally tracked the car down at Kim's place in New Jersey. Storch was released on bail after posting an undisclosed amount; according to some reports he is currently in rehab.

Rent The Hilton House For The Summer

kathy and rick hiltonIf you've got $400,000 to spare you can spend the summer in the Hamptons, Paris-Hilton style. A home in Water Mill, New York belonging to Rick Hilton, Paris Hilton's father, is up for rent this summer. According to Newsday, the Hiltons are asking for $400,000 for the Memorial Day-to-Labor Day season. The 10,000-square-foot traditional-style home has six bedrooms, 7.5 bathrooms and a freeform heated pool. The house is on 2.7 acres of hedged property.

But before you get out your checkbook, you might want to check out a few stories that have appeared about the home in 2007. Apparently the renters that year weren't too pleased with the accommodations. The Real Estalker revealed that the home, which then rented for around $350,000 was said to be in shabby condition. The home also rented out in 2008 but no further tales of woe surfaced.

The home is located conveniently near Southampton Village and has deeded ocean access. I've located what appears to be the listing which shows a large living room with fireplace and French doors, a formal dining room, multiple dens and a rather fussy and floral decorating style.
