Oceanco's New 283-ft. Superyacht Features Sushi & Cigar Bars

Dutch yachtbuilder Oceanco's newest superyacht creation, dubbed the Y708 and its most advanced and largest ever at 283 ft., will be completed in 2012 at an estimated cost of $150 million. The floating luxury palace, designed by Russian Igor Lobanov in a style calculated to appeal to the oligarch set, features a library, sushi bar and cigar bar among the many luxe amenities on its four decks. Based on three guiding principles - motion, elegance, and privacy - Lobanov used dramatically sculpted surfaces to convey motion, a dynamic silhouette to impart elegance, and a compartmentalized interior layout and hidden crew passages to ensure privacy. The yacht has four guest cabins, two VIP suites and a master suite on its own deck with a salon, study, turbo jet whirlpool and wraparound balconies, while the aft deck features a swimming pool that converts to a helipad. The Y708 will be powered by 2 MTU 20V 4000 M73L diesels, each producing 4,830 hp and enabling her to cruise at a speed of 20 knots.

Alfa Nero Superyacht for Sale at $190 Million

Alfa Nero, the 269-ft. Oceanco superyacht designed by Nuvolari & Lenard with interiors by Alberto Pinto, has been listed for sale via brokerage firm Edmiston & Co. for €129,750,000, or about $190 million. Launched in 2007, the ultra-luxe yacht features over 4,000 sq. ft. of living space, with suite accommodations for 12, two VIP staterooms and berths for 28 crew members. It also has three separate dining areas, a centered, leather-stepped staircase and glass-enclosed elevator, a grand piano, theater lounge, dance floor, gym, and beauty salon. Exotic Italian marbles, goat skin wall panels, sycamore and brushed stainless steel flooring, and tropical wood are featured throughout. A swimming pool on the main aft deck converts to a helipad.

German Billionaire Takes "Discreet" Possession Of Megayacht

German screw tycoon Reinhold Würth might not be so popular with his employees right now. Würth recently took possession of his beautiful new yacht, the 280-foot "Vibrant Curiosity" at a time when his company is laying off workers. The billionaire (#93 on the Forbes 2009 list) has, according to Spiegel Online, ordered 1,250 of his 5,000 employees in Germany to reduce their working hours and take a 15 percent pay cut as of April 1.

At the $100 million yacht's launch party, Reinhold Würth is said to have asked guests at the yacht's launching party to be "discreet." The yacht has a master stateroom, VIP stateroom, three double VIP staterooms and two double guest cabins and can zip along at 18.5 knots.

$200 Million Megayacht Stars in Monaco Boat Show

At the megabucks Monaco Yacht Show this past weekend in Monte Carlo, there was an estimated $4.5 billion worth of yachts on display, and none of the 98 craft on exhibit were under 100 ft. The biggest of them all however was the multistory, $200 million Anastasia (above) at 248 ft., recently completed by leading Dutch shipyard Oceanco for a Russian billionaire. Though the buyer's identity hasn't been confirmed, it's rumored to be Vladimir Potanin, the 25th richest man in the world with a fortune of $19.3 billion, the London Daily Mail reports.

The Anastasia features six decks, luxe quarters for 12 passengers and 20 crew members including a duplex master suite, a ten seat cinema, a discotheque with a laser light display and smoke machine, an artificial coral reef and 800-gallon fish tank, a swimming pool with a transparent wall, a sunbathing platform which converts into a stage for live music, a library upholstered in crocodile skin, and a hanger full of speedboats and jetskis.

Far from being an endangered species due to the grim economic outlook, these megayachts are more in demand than ever. In fact, the Anastasia is probably already worth more than Potanin paid for it. "People with $200 million to spend on a yacht tend to be above the credit crunch," Hugo Andreae, editor of Superyacht World magazine, tells the paper. "There are a lot them around, even if most are unknown to the wider world."

The Alfa Nero Has One Cool Pool

Often on private yachts an on-deck hot tub is the best you can hope for when it comes to having a dunk on board. That's not the case with Oceanco's latest project the Alfa Nero. This striking yacht has a 23 by 11.5 foot swimming pool, one of the largest to be built on a luxury yacht. The pool area can also be converted, through the use of hydraulics, into a dance floor, entertaining area, or even a helipad. The impressive yacht was launched this spring and has an interior design that melds contemporary design with a touch of Art Deco. Yacht lovers can get their fill of this beauty at the Monaco Yacht Show later this year. Until then, we'll have to content ourselves with the spy shots on VesselTracker.

Oceanco Yacht Y702

Oceanco has announced the next vessel in its 700 series of yachts. Y701 was a monster 80 meter with helipad and swimming pool and Y702 will be a little bit larger! The yet unnamed yacht will feature some differences from the first in the series chief among them being the full sized helicopter landing pad that slides to uncover a swimming pool, very Christina O. Other new details include a top deck gym and adjoining massage room. The forward facing master suite has sweeping views and a private hot tub. The forward dining room enjoys incredible views due to a portion of the hull folding out to create an uninterrupted vista. To meet S.O.L.A.S. regulations and make the vessel available for charter, Y702 will be limited to 12 guests in 6 staterooms. Delivery is expected in 2007.
