If you are going to celebrate Oktoberfest in Munich why not go all the way and dress for the occasion. The Rocco Forte Collection's The Charles Hotel in Munich has a "Dressed for Oktoberfest" program that includes your own dirndl (men, you'll have to find the lederhosen on your own). To celebrate the festival, the hotel has teamed up with Schatzi Dirndl, one of Munich's leading traditional designers, to create custom-made Bavarian dirndls for guests. The package includes two nights or more in one of the rooms or suites, a buffet breakfast included at Davvero, welcome drink at the bar, a Bavarian amenity in your room upon arrival and of course, the dirndl. The Charles Hotel is located close to the historic square of Königsplatz, the old town and the local shopping area. It features original paintings by Munich's celebrated 19th century artist Franz von Lenbach in the public areas, as well as in the Monforte Suite. Lamborghini Ankonian Concept

Filed under: Luxury Cars & Autos

A German design student has come up with a killer concept for a next generation Lamborghini that's a cross between the Reventon and the Batmobile. Slavche Tanevsky's vehicle is dubbed the Ankonian after a breed of black-haired bull in a nod to the famed marque's mascot. It features a fairly narrow body, cab backward classical GT silhouette, and a mélange of soft and angular surfaces. Tanevsky, a design student at Munich University, says the main themes behind the concept are "underground" and "hardcore", reinforced by a combination of shiny black and matte charcoal finishes. Lamborghini's engineers, who are apparently impressed with Tanevsky's work, helped him render the concept which could one day make it's way into production.

Mercedes-Benz's Sexy SLS AMG Ad Campaign

Filed under: Apparel, Luxury Cars & Autos

Earlier this year we reported that super-hot German model Julia Stegner had been chosen as the new face of Mercedes-Benz to give the marque a dose of added sex appeal. Now Stegner, who hails from Munich and has appeared on the covers several fashion mags and runway shows including Victoria's Secret, as well as in ad campaigns for the likes of Chloé, Dolce & Gabbana, Escada, Guerlain, Dior and Hugo Boss, has shot a hot new ad campaign for the just-unveiled SLS AMG. Famed fashion photographer Nick Knight shot the ads with designer Gareth Pugh clothing the model in some futuristic fashions. The $250,000 supercar debuted at the Frankfurt Auto Show.

2009 BMW 7 Series Revealed

Filed under: Luxury Cars & Autos

Recently the fifth-generation of the BMW 7 series was secretly unveiled in Munich but don't worry it will soon be publicly presented in Paris in September. As the first car to offer full on-demand internet access which allows passengers to surf the web via an iDrive system, complete with color monitor and rotary controller, the new BMW 7 Series for 2009 is high tech, fast and fashionable. The new ride even sports rear-wheel steering...how does that work?! Surely, BMW has always been a desired automobile but I have to say the internet on the road, plus the usual classy luxury and high performance engine, make the new 7 Series one of the must-haves of this coming year.

Deluxe Zeppelin Flights Over Germany

Filed under: Luxury Travel & Hotels, Wings

Helium-filled Zeppelins have always been a great way to travel; you can cruise at slow speeds and low altitudes in a quiet, comfortable atmosphere, and they're energy-efficient to boot. The much-ballyhooed Hindenburg disaster in 1937 gave them a bad name, but that tragedy was solely due to a fatal decision to use flammable hydrogen in place of helium, which was unobtainable at the time. In any case, the technology used in newly-designed dirigibles has come a long way. They're smaller than the behemoths of yore, more maneuverable, and of course much modernized.

The Zeppelin NT touring ship launched this past weekend in Munich is as long as a Boeing 747, but only carries 12 passengers in its cabin at a time so you never feel cramped. Unlike a plane it has big picture windows, along with all the amenities. The Zeppelin cruises along at 1,000 ft., providing the perfect vantage point for viewing Germany's lovely landscape from the air. Various vacation packages are available, and there are plans to establish a similar service in other cities as well.

BMW Welt. BMW's Fancy New Palace Of Cars

Filed under: Services, Luxury Cars & Autos

BMW Welt, or BMW World in English, is located in Munich Germany and is designed to present new BMW owners with their vehicles in the best light possible -- literally. After purchasing a new BMW, owners will have the option of passing on picking up their car the boring way (at a local dealer) and can instead head over to get the full treatment at BMW Welt. Their car will be gleaming and glittering under a spotlight while spinning slowly on a turntable -- what better way to see your brand new purchase for the first time?

Of course there's a lot more going on at BMW Welt than just cars on turntables, although with 170 cars being delivered there daily come October there's got to be a lot of turning going on.
