Mondrian To Open New Soho Hotel

Morgans Hotel Group Co. is adding a third Mondrian hotel in February (current Mondrian hotels are located in Los Angeles and Miami's South Beach). Mondrian SoHo will open on March 1st, with an exclusive preview at the end of February.

The hotel at 9 Crosby Street was designed in collaboration with Benjamin Noriega-Ortiz, the visionary behind the re-imagined Mondrian Los Angeles. The design draws inspiration from Jean Coucteau's 1946 French fantasy film "La Belle et la Bete." Guests enter Mondrian through a green garden topiary facade on Crosby Street into an area with a powdery French blue color palette, a pale oak floor and casual seating groups with custom furniture designed by Noriega-Ortiz.

SPiN at The Mondrian: The Ping Pong Trend Heads West

All of a sudden table tennis is hotter than hot. Backed by Susan Sarandon and a team of owners, the SPiN ping pong club in New York City has become so successful that it has spawned a reality television show. Now the concept is expanding, finding a new home at the Mondrian in Los Angeles in the hotel's ADCB lounge this summer.

SPiN New York was created by owners Franck Raharinosy, Andrew Gordon and Jonathan Bricklin along with Sarandon and has an interior dreamed up by renowned designer Todd Oldham. SPiN has taken the New York social scene by storm with a mix of sport, design, and entertainment, since its launch in 2009. "SPiN New York has brought a fun, new element to the city's nightlife that has refreshed the scene and gained a very loyal following, and we are excited to transport that unique experience to the LA market with this exclusive partnership," said Kim Walker, Senior Vice President and Creative Director, Morgans Hotel Group.

SPiN Hollywood at Mondrian will mark one of SPiN's first expansions outside of New York. Hotel guests and visitors can enjoy tournaments, celebrity events ,cocktails and food over a casual game of table tennis. The concept first debuted at Mondrian for one night only during Oscar Week 2010 luring in Jamie Foxx and other notables. Next up is SPiN Milwaukee opening in August 2010.

Ron Robinson Pops Up At The Mondrian

The Mondrian Hotel in Los Angeles has announced a new collaboration with Ron Robinson, bringing the brand's cult favorite home, beauty and design products to hotel guests and visitors through December. The shop is the latest in a series of Mondrian pop-ups which have included swimwear brand Shay Todd and Kiki de Montparnasse. Ron Robinson at Mondrian will bring together a curated collection of candles and aromatics as well as other luxury items including a custom-designed Pamela Love t-shirt created exclusively for Mondrian and a selection of bracelets, cuffs, necklaces, rings, and more from Stephen Webster fine jewelry for men and women. Other highlights include a set of Parrot-Zikmu speakers designed by Philippe Starck, APOTHIA candles, aromatic diffusers and bath and body collection, Kiehl's beauty products, Missoni towels and beach accessories, watches by NIXON, COOLA sun products, Lulu Frost jewelry, and more.

Booty Parlor Kits at the Mondrian Hotel

Hotel Chatter let us know that the Mondrian Hotel in West Hollywood has a new naughty amenity for hotel guests. The Mondrian, which already has a gift shop, named Pleasure, that features Booty Parlor "intimacy products." Will now be offering a special kit in the mini-bar that includes condoms, lubes and other items. Of course, since it's in the mini-bar the rates will probably astronomical. The full kits which sell in Pleasure sell for upwards of $85. It's a nice fit for the adult and swank Mondrian but don't look for your local Holiday Inn to start stocking these any time soon.
