Mercedes-Benz Sets August Sale Date for New S-Class in U.S.
Filed under: Luxury Cars & Autos

Mercedes-Benz has been showing off its next S-Class range-topper for quite some time now, and potential buyers finally have an official date to mark on their calendars as the German automaker has announced that the 2010 model will hit dealer showrooms in the U.S. in August. Included in the mix will be the automaker's first-ever hybrid model, the S400 Hybrid, which will also be the first series-production automobile sold with a lithium ion battery pack.
Also on the market will be the S550 in both rear-wheel and 4MATIC all-wheel drive models, which come equipped with a 362-horsepower V8 engine, and the 510-horsepower, V12-powered S600. Stepping all the way up to the ladder will net you one of two ridiculously powerful AMG models, either the 518-horsepower S63 AMG or the 604-horsepower S65.
As befitting a top-of-the-line sedan from Mercedes-Benz, high-tech touches like ATTENTION ASSIST, which watches for signs of drowsiness from the driver, will join Active Body Control that compensates for crosswinds and stability control for the utmost in safety. Inside, the latest COMAND multimedia system combines GPS navigation with audio and video functionality. See the full press release after the break for more.
