Maison Martin Margiela Launching First Fragrance

Quirky fashion brand Maison Martin Margiela is releasing its first scent. The blandly-named Untitled is a unisex scent created by perfumer Daniela Andrier from Givaudan who has created scents for Gucci and Prada. Untitled is described as being a green scent with incense-like amber notes. The simple bottle, designed in collaboration with Fabien Baron, was inspired by 19th century glass stoppered bottles and reinforces the idea that the scent is made to be worn by anyone. Untitled will be available from Colette starting on January 25 and then will be rolled out internationally over the next few months. I wouldn't exactly call the new collaboration between R.E.M. frontman and Martin Margiela a jewelry line. It's hard to know what to call it. The limited edition (199 pieces) Michael Stipe x Margiela collaboration is a silver microcassette with a little bit of unraveled tape which can be worn a variety of ways according to the press image. It can be worn as jewelry, tied into your hair, worn on a shoe or glasses or on a keychain. It fits well with the quirky Margiela aesthetic which has also featured champagne corks and soda can tabs reimagined as necklaces. The project is a one time event and will be available at Margiela boutiques and select retailers.

As summer is wrapping up and autumn is blowing in new seasonal lines will be coming out. Martin Margiela's new fall/winter fashion line may surprise you with its wild themes of animal photo prints on leather sneakers, boots, and wallets. The accessories launched with the line include a lot of leather and silver jewelry and even a couple of rugged messenger bags. Their site seems to be under construction but it won't be long before you can get your hands on these unique animalistic designs.
