mariah careyMariah Carey may have sung "All I Want For Christmas is You" in a recent Christmas special but her real Christmas list was perhaps a bit more extensive. She recently tweeted a picture of a Rolls-Royce next to a private plane with the words: "Still getting over my Christmas gift from Nick Cannon... License plate: mommyMC." Carey is pregnant with the couple's first child and set to give birth this spring.

Forever Mariah Carey, Girly Grows Up (A Little)

forever mariah careyWhile I wasn't looking forward to giving Forever Mariah Carey a scent test I have to admit I was pleasantly surprised. Given Mariah's love of butterflies, pink and super exaggerated femininity. I was expecting to be bowled over with bubblegum sweetness. But just as her turn in "Precious" proved, Mariah is more than just a big voice and a larger-than-life persona. The girl's got heart and this scent has plenty of it. It's sweet but the sweetness is subtle and endearing.

The fragrance takes its name from Mariah's single from the Daydream album. This is sort of a dreamlike scent. It's ethereal qualities mean that it's not particularly strong, perhaps a good thing in this case because too much strength might result in a headache inducing scent. It's billed as a modern opulent floral but while the floral is there the modern and opulent seem in short supply. It's not strong enough to really be opulent and it doesn't seem that modern to me. It seems more vintage, like an antique dressing table complete with a large mirror and a powder puff, glamour but with a girlish giggle. Flowers run deep in this one starting with top notes of neroli and lotus blossom and a heart of tuberose and gardenia. Apple notes provide a little relief from the flowers and white musk and exotic woods anchor the scent. It's a whisper of a scent, at least on me, it didn't last very long leaving only a subtle wisp of tuberose and white musk behind.

Forever Mariah Carey was developed by perfumer Olivier Gillotin. The 1.7 ounce perfume sells for $55. I was given a bottle to review and usually give away the bottle to a reader but in this case the top was broken during shipping so I won't be doing that.

Mariah Carey's New Candy Bling

candy bling
Nick Cannon got Mariah Carey a unique piece of bling to celebrate their second wedding anniversary. The couple, who decided to renew their vows, were married in April 2008 after dating less than two months. For the occasion Nick had jeweler Jason of Beverly Hills create a customized candy ring pop made of pink sapphires, white gold and white diamonds. The pair both love the childhood treat and Mariah also has a song called "Candy Bling." Jason Arasheben, the CEO of Jason of Beverly Hills, told People Magazine that the ring comes in a box complete with a spinner so that you can see it sparkle under the lights inside.

This wasn't the only piece of bling Miss Mariah got recently. She also received a -crystal bedazzled iPad with her signature "M" from Elizabeth Arden, the maker of her fragrances. Check out videos of both after the jump.

Mariah Carey Demands 'White Roses' and 'No Harsh Lighting' on 2010 Concert Tour

mariah careyWhat does a music legend like Mariah Carey need to stay happy between performances while on the road? According to the 2010 rider that goes along with her concert tour she needs two dozen white roses, a $200 bottle of Cabernet Sauvignon, and no "busy patterns" on the furniture, among other things. TheSmokingGun.com reports that this years list is actually less indulgent than previous ones, noting that she no longer requires Cristal champagne or "bendy straws" (ha!) to drink it with. She does, however, want vanilla aromatherapy candles, a room temperature of 'about 75 degrees,' eight 'tall, leafy plants' in her living space, and a lamp or clip light that can be used to offset or replace 'harsh lighting' in the bathroom.

If this is the gist of her list I actually think it's pretty tame -- if I could I'd ask for a room filled with roses too!

Oscars Red Carpet, Glamour Is Back

Last year the economy restrained Oscar fashion a bit but this year it seemed like glamour was back in full force. Actresses on the Oscars red carpet wore gowns in either metallic fabrics or rich, deep colors. Deep blues and purples combined with gowns in gold and silver gave the red carpet an almost celestial feel. Mariah Carey, Kristin Stewart and others made the most of deep blue, a color that was a perfect foil for large, sparkling red carpet diamond jewelry. Safely protected from the intermittent rain by a tent, stars brightened up a cloudy day. Check out the gallery below for looks from some of the top stars.

There were definitely some fashion misses. Charlize Theron's dress was a bit of a fashion misstep. Sarah Jessica Parker tried a new silhouette that didn't work as well as her usual nipped in styles. One thing that didn't seem to be in fashion was basic black. Actresses that wore black gowns made sure they were heavily ornamented. This was the year for a cautiously exuberant return to Oscar excess.

The Fashion Statement: Cleavage Is Back!

.

Bazookas. Bazooms. Village-feeders (thank you, Chris Rock). Whatever you call 'em, they've been spotted everywhere on the red carpet these last few months.

There was so much cleavage at the Golden Globes Sunday night, it's as if the invitation specified "globes" in the dress code. Mariah Carey (pictured above in a black Herve Leger number), Halle Berry, Christina Aguilera and Fergie formed a committee that surely played a role in TV ratings, particularly among the male demographic.

At the Grammy's Nominations concert back in December, things were no tamer. Katy Perry no doubt upstaged an act or two with ample bosoms spilling out of a white, embroidered gown. Before that, Ciara let her boobs do the talking at MOCA's 30th Anniversary Gala in L.A. while Demi Lovato got majorly chesty at the Peoples Choice Awards, 2010.

Even the fashion first crowd (those generally prefer style over exposure) -- Nicole Kidman, Chloe Sevigny and Kelly Rutherford -- have gotten busty on the party circuit. In Sevigny's case, boobs popped out of a librarian-like sweater set and sat atop a mid-length skirt at the Prada Book Launch Cocktail party in Beverly Hills a few months ago. Kidman was all about pushing them up at the Country Music Awards last November.

Mariah Carey Buys $7 Million Mansion

It looks like Mariah Carey was only dreaming when she reportedly made an offer on Fleur de Lys, the $125 million Beverly Hills mansion once ranked as the world's most expensive estate (that title is now held by the $150 million Spelling mansion). According to the Real Estalker, the pop star just purchased this somewhat more modest mansion in Bel Air (above) that once belonged to Farrah Fawcett for about $7 million. The private gated estate on 3 acres designed in the Hamptons style and originally built in 1950 is about 10,000-sq.-ft. with 6 bedrooms and 7 baths.

The property features incredible 360-degree views and the renovated house has an "Aspen-style" great room, seven fireplaces, formal living and dining rooms, a library, media room, office, an eat in gourmet kitchen. The grounds boast three gated entrances, two motor courts, a huge rectangular swimming pool with a poolside pavilion, a large brick terrace, several lush lawns areas, a gazebo, and an Indoor racquetball court. The closing price is about $2.5 million less than the sellers were originally asking.

Mariah Carey Makes an Offer on World's Most Expensive Mansion

Pop diva Mariah Carey has reportedly made an offer on Fleur de Lys, the world's most expensive estate, which is listed at $125 million. The the palatial 15-bedroom mansion in Beverly Hills (above) was built by Texan billionaire David Saperstein. The five-acre estate is home to a 41,000-square foot French limestone mansion inspired by France's magnificent Vaux le Vicomte palace outside Paris. It features Italian marble walls, French limestone floors, gold-embossed leather wall coverings, gold-leaf crown moldings, a ballroom with ceiling frescoes, a library complete with rare books, two kitchens and a screening room with seating for 50.

Surrounding the mansion are rolling lawns, ornamental gardens and mature trees, a 3,000-square-foot manager's house, staff quarters for 10 people, a spa and pool with a pavilion, a championship tennis court, and a lavish garden folly. Contactmusic reports that after three months of house hunting Carey and her rapper / actor husband Nick Cannon have made an offer on the estate, for an undisclosed amount. "They like the home because there's so little that needs doing to it," a source close to the couple allegedly remarked. The house is currently owned by Saperstein's ex-wife Suzanne, whom he ditched for the childrens' hot Swedish nanny.

Mariah Carey's Summer Vacation Rental, Stone Meadow Farm, Estate of the Day

It's hard not to envy Mariah Carey's Hamptons adventures. Last summer she made herself cozy in Tommy Hilfiger's tribute to the tasteful use of orange and this summer Braden Keil of the NY Post reports that Mariah is renting Stone Meadow Farm in East Hampton for on week for $125,000 (less than half of the reported $350,000 she spent on Hilfiger's pad but that was for a month).

Like Hilfiger's place was, this one is also up for sale. Stone Meadow Farm is on eight acres and has a 18,000 square foot house with 10 bedrooms and 12.5 bathrooms done up in white and dark brown with white walls and furnishings and dark wood floors and wood tables. The shingled expanse includes a 3500 sq ft finished lower level with a spa and media room.

The grounds include two separate cottages to house guests or staff as well as stone courtyards, large patios, a heated Gunite pool and a tennis court. The barn can stable five horses and there are ample riding fields. This home is listed for $19.95 million.

Kate Moss Loves The Night

Filed under: Celebrity Shopping, Cosmetics and Fragrance

Kate Moss may be losing her modeling contracts but she is still powerful as a brand name. She has announced her second fragrance, Velvet Hour which is being done for Coty. The fragrance celebrates dusk, and Kate's love of the nightlife, with scents like patchouli, sandalwood, amber, nutmeg and freesia. Sounds very bohemian. The fragrance is set to launch in the fall with a magazine ad campaign shot by Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott, and and TV ads directed by John Mathieson.

Moss isn't the only one with a new second scent. Mariah Carey is readying her second fragrance, Luscious Pink, for Elizabeth Arden. Carey's scent is described as a "sparkling floral" with notes of Sicilian bergamot, Tahitian Tiare petals, lily of the valley and pink peony, sandalwood and white musk.

Filed under: Celebrity Shopping, Cosmetics and Fragrance

Mariah Carey loves butterflies. From album covers to temporary tattoos, the singer likes to surround herself with the delicate insect's image. Even her new perfume, M, features a butterfly stopper on the bottle. But it is Lalique's so-called Butterfly scent that has attracted her like a butterfly to a flower. She recently shelled out $13,200 for a case of the exclusive, limited edition perfume simply because she loved the bottle design - an etched crystal bottle adorned with a beautiful butterfly stopper. It may not just be the pretty bottle that led her to purchase the pricey perfume - a source told In Touch Weekly that she thinks the scent will make her actually smell like a butterfly.
