Marc Jacobs is a phenomenal designer. He pushes the boundaries and sets trends. Sometimes the world is ready for his creations and other times he is waiting for us to catch up with him. I think the latter may be true in the case of his Lamb Shoulder Bag ($495). My initially reaction was "if a gremlin had a fashionable girlfriend, this bag would be it", but what a harsh judgment to make for a designer that I truly respect and admire. So I reserve my criticism and let the readers decide.

It's not as though we haven't seen fur bags before. On the runway, they are sartorial eye candy for the fur enthusiasts while opponents would vigorously disagree (and with good reason). But in the real world day to day living, how realistic can it be to wear a fur bag? However, there are some great qualities to this smoky colored furry shoulder bag. The color scheme is beautiful and gives off a relaxed and soothing feel while the colorful strap adds a little punch of color. It has a wide stripped adjustable canvas shoulder strap making for a sturdy and comfortable carry and with a roomy interior, you can hold many items without creating a bulky effect. And it's all accented with a gold designer stamped plaque.

Nothing about this tote is what you might expect from a luxury handbag. It isn't leather and that isn't real animal-print but Marc Jacobs still succeeds in creating a dynamite piece of arm candy using PVC and a cream and black stamped calf-hair effect. The Franny Animal-Print PVC Tote also features a detachable, adjustable shoulder strap along with a pair of handles at the top, gold-tone hardware, magnetic fastening, three interior pockets and his signature monochrome twill lining for just $330. Here's a girly tote if there ever was one. It's Marc by Marc Jacobs' Mabel Lace Miss Mark Tote, and it literally features a funky little 'girly girl' on the front. Lots of bright, crisp white make it seem spring-y, which honestly I'm more than ready for, while blues and grays make up the rest of the design that's full of florals and lacey patterns. Made of 100% nylon it features double shoulder straps, an open top (not great for me as I'm prone to spills), and several interior pockets for goodies like your cell phone. $188

Marc Jacobs has an uncanny ability to create handbags that are immediately classic and sophisticated as well as handbags that are quirky and offbeat yet unexpectedly become classics of their own accord. Perhaps he has that magic touch where for years anything he touches has been successful or maybe we all just love what he does because he is Marc and we expect to be bewildered yet excited about his creations - who knows?

Whatever the case may be, I am pretty much hooked on almost everything he does. I trust his taste and style even when I don't immediately agree with his vision because I know he will always push the envelope all the while having fun and taking chances with fashion. Take for example Jacob's Flights of Fancy Shopper featured here. It's a colorful and quirky collection of various animals set in the outdoors. And although it may not fit the mold of the next "it" bag, it is certainly unique and refreshingly different from the rest of the monotone color oversized bags that have become so popular – which by the way I love as well. The Flights of Fancy Shopper has character all on its own and not because it is a recreation of what shoppers have become accustomed to but because it is Marc once again having fun with fashion. Price: $428.

The Marc By Marc Jacobs Women's Classic Q City Bag is one of the most artful tote-sized bags we've ever seen.

This double strapped bag comes in at 12.5"W x 15"H x 2.75"D, and has a detachable strap (shown) which allows you to throw in your portfolio and sling it over your shoulder like any tote bag. But this is not any tote bag. This is a soft, "Electric Violet" pebble leather Marc by Marc Jacobs masterpiece.

We especially love the elegant gather at the center of the bag, and the complementary geometric shapes and the base of the straps. There are concealed magnetic snaps for closure, as well as an inside zipper and cell phone pocket.

The Marc By Marc Jacobs Classic Q City Bag is available from Bloomingdales for $428.

The Marc by Marc Jacobs Puckered Mouse Embossed Hobo comes in just one color, this brilliant and totally unexpected "Poppy."

The "buttery soft" orange leather of this generous 17"W X 14"H X 4"D bag is embossed with the Marc Jacobs logo, and gently gathers at the top to create a classic shape. The closure you see is a pushlock, and unlocking the flap reveals a bright pink, blue, and purple floral patterned cotton lining, as well as two interior pockets.

The bold color of the purse makes it immediately decadent, while its simple shape and modest closure keep it subtle. This "Poppy" color is extremely versatile -- it would be excellently paired with white, black, or blue.

It's a big, silver, lacy-looking bow that doubles as a clutch.

What do you think of it?

My first impression was 'geez, who wouldn't look tacky carrying that?' But the more I look at the more I think it's really sort of charming. In an off-beat, ultra-feminine- with-a-hint-of-biker-chick sort of way.

The Bow Bag Clutch from Marc by Marc Jacobs features silver metallic leather with a double overlay of netting. It has two pockets (one on each side of the bow's center) each with its own zipper closure and bright pink lining. Also features a short chain strap with attached designer logo. $250
