Today, I bring you the classic Barcelona Chair and Stool. Designed by Ludwig Mies van der Rohe in 1929 for the International Exhibition in Barcelona, it's hard to believe that this chair comes from the era of cloche hats and flapper dresses. I could write all day about the pioneering van der Rohe, but the proof is in this timeless design that has been manufactured exclusively by Knoll since 1953. I'm planning on getting a black one for my bedroom. What better place to put your shoes on in the morning than on a work of modern art? The chair is available from Design Within Reach for $3,499.
