Ligne Roset Seating For 2011

Linge Roset Seating For 2011
High-end furniture maker Ligne Roset just unveiled (among many other items) much of their new collection of chairs, sofas, and other types of seating furniture for 2011 at the latest IMM furniture fair in Cologne. The collection does not disappoint - and the brand again features items from great designers that are a mix of modern, ergonomic, and un-ordinary. These pieces are useful and I feel can add some interesting "dimensions" to a space. I am fascinated by seating so I focused on that part of their new collection. Chairs have an interesting need to be both attractive, useful, and ergonomically healthy. In total, Ligne Roset debuted 31 pieces at the show. See the video after the bump for a bit more, and visit Ligne Roset Facebook page here for more info.

Ligne Roset Limited Edition Pierre Paulin Pumpkin Chair

Luxury furniture maker/retailer Ligne Roset has released a limited edition set of 150 Pumpkin armchairs. The "Pumpkin" chair is known for the unique look its various connected sections make. The eight "slices" roughly form the look of a pumpkin. Originally designed in 1971 for Claude and Georges Pompidou (think Pompidou Center in Paris) by Pierre Paulin, the armchair was originally a solid color. For this limited edition set, the pieces are formed using slightly different colors for a really unique and hip look. Certainly not for every room, but very inviting to sit down in if placed in the right space. It is like what a bean-bag chair would evolve into through a luxury lens. The Pumpkin chair was first publicly available in 2008 by Ligne Roset.

The Pumpkin chair is made of wool, and will be offered in two versions. There will be 150 of each, one with red wool cloth sections, and the other with blue wool cloth sections. Also important, the pieces are part of Ligne Roset's 150th anniversary. In addition to the chairs being individually numbered, they will bear a "150 years of Ligne Roset" statement on them. Available starting in June 2010, only 42 of the chairs are being reserved for the North American market. Price is $2,100 each.

Ligne Roset Opens First Boutique, in Austin

Ligne Roset, a high-end, family-run (since 1860) furniture line that offers a range of products from furniture to lighting to upholstery, opened its first concept store, in Austin. The company focuses on smaller-scale, more design-forward pieces, and, unlike many of its competitors, allows consumers to purchase select pieces from the showroom and take them home directly. Some of its signature pieces are the origami-inspired Facett collection and Pierre Paulin's 1954 Tanis Desk. See the gallery for a few shots of the store.
