LeBron James Is New Audemars Piguet Watch Ambassador

Filed under: Spirits, Timepieces / Watches

Having worked together in the past, famous basketball player LeBron James and high-end Swiss watch brand Audemars Piguet have taken their relationship to the next step. LeBron James was just announced to be Audemars Piguet's newest international brand ambassador. In addition to wearing Audemars Piguet timepieces (he prefers the Royal Oak Offshore collection), James will be featured in a range of advertising and marketing campaigns. These will also involve James' charitable foundation called The LeBron James Family Foundation, and other various special events.

Audemars Piguet is one of the most popular luxury watch brands with US Athletes (as well as international athletes of course), and has done an admirable job of receiving a high level of awareness in the US. The relationship with LeBron will further that mission, especially given LeBron's popularity both on and off the court. Moving ahead a year or two the world will see a specially designed LeBron James Audemars Piguet timepiece. Likely a limited edition, and very likely part of the Royal Oak Offshore collection, the watch will come out in probably 2013. LeBron's new relationship with Audemars Piguet was announced in Miami yesterday - where he plays for the Miami Heat team.

Woman Discovers Cheap LeBron James Pendant is Worth Thousands

LeBron James Diamond PendantVaneisha Robinson bought a box of miscellaneous junk for $5 at a yard sale in Akron, OH 4 years ago and little did she know what treasure it held. Amongst the mix of stuffed animals and other trinkets was a pendant in the shape of LeBron James' number 23 jersey. "I used to go to high school with it around my neck, not knowing the value of it," she told an interviewer, "I just thought it was cool cuz it spins." Although she originally thought it was costume jewelry recently she became suspicious the gems might be real, based on how they were set, and after taking it to an expert for examination it turns out they were. The International Gemological Institute gave her a certified appraisal listing the pendant's value at $9,670.

The jersey-shaped pendant is stamped "King 23" on the front and "James 23" on the back and is made of 14k gold covered in 307 round brilliant diamonds totaling 2.15 carats. Robinson sold the pendant recently on eBay and plans to use the money to open her own gym.

LeBron James Wearing His Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Offshore Volcano Watch

Filed under: Timepieces / Watches, Celebrity Shopping

Perhaps LeBron James likes this particular Audemars Piguet Royak Oak Offshore Volcano watch because he prefers an orange trim, or maybe because that is the color of basketballs. Regardless, LeBron is among many professional athletes (among others) who prefer Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Offshore timepieces. The Volcano model is 42m wide in steel, with a black and orange colored dial, with a matching black with orange stitching crocodile strap. Inside it has an in-house made automatic chronograph movement. Retail price for the watch is close to $19,000.

Mr. James was recently spotted wearing his AP Volcano watch on ESPN when making the announcement that he will be leaving the Cleveland Cavaliers in order to join the Miami Heat. This is certainly a great Miami watch.

Will LeBron James Buy In Miami?

The announcement that LeBron James will be playing for the Miami Heat next season has some real estate agents very excited. A report in US Weekly has LeBron already planning to party in South Beach, renting out cabanas at the W Hotel. James will stay there briefly before heading to New York City for the wedding of Carmelo Anthony and Lala Vasquez.

But where will LeBron lives permanently once he heads to Miami? One rumor had him making an offer on a $49.5 million waterfront estate in Coral Gables. Coral Gables is home to many athletes but a 20,000 square-foot house would actually be a step down for James who has a 35,000 square foot palace in Akron, Ohio. Will that home hit the market? It seems unlikely. The home was built to his specifications and he'd be hard-pressed to get any decent return on his substantial investment. He also has deep ties to the community.

Another potential neighborhood for LeBron James could be Star Island, the former home of Shaquille O'Neal. But LeBron James might want to wait before putting down real estate roots. Some of the athletes we've seen try to sell their home in Florida have had a rough time including Miami Heat's Dwayne Wade who struggled to unload his Pinecrest home.

The Huffington Post has a list of ten Miami mansions for LeBron James to consider including the incredible Setai penthouse we recently had as an estate of the day.

More New York Temptations Promised For LeBron James

lebron jamesLast week I wrote about a couple of chefs (Michael Symon from Cleveland and Jean-Georges Vongerichten from New York City) trying to influence LeBron James with free meals. Since then the deals have only gotten sweeter, at least on the New York side. Fans who want the basketball phenom, shown at right accepting the Spike TV Guy's Choice Award for "Unstoppable Jock," to come to New York and play for the Knicks just keep ladling out the promises. The NY Daily News rounds up a few more which include enough food offers to make sure that James never pays for a meal again. Bo Dietl offered a regular seat at Rao's, the chief cook of Smoke in Da Eye offered LeBron unlimited barbecue and Bob Bertrand of The Original SoupMan pledged free soup for life. That's not all, Bliss Spa has offered him treatments and the Palm Tribeca seeks to tempt him with hickory-smoked ribeye steak with jumbo Nova Scotia lobster for two.

Samantha Choi of the Classic Car Club Manhattan offered him an annual membership worth $10,000 and all sorts of New Yorkers filled up a trailer full of gifts outside Madison Square Garden so that they can be delivered to LeBron James in Cleveland. Hotelier Andre Balasz has offered LeBron a loft suite at the Mercer Hotel in SoHo and Alexandre Petrossian will send over a snack of Royal Ossetra caviar sandwiches. Sean Combs posted his appeal on Twitter promising LeBron James free Sean John clothing and Ciroc vodka for life. On the Cmon LeBron website, Iron Chef Mario Batali appears in video (after the jump) in a Cmon LeBron T-shirt upping Michael Symon's promise of an Iron Chef meal a month to an Iron Chef meal every two weeks in New York City.

What's next, will Los Angeles weigh in? Some rumors have David Geffen buying a share in the Clippers and bringing LeBron James to Los Angeles to enliven the much-maligned franchise. Could Chicago be far behind with promises of a lifetime of free deep dish. For LeBron, whose is facing a July 1 deadline, the culinary possibilities seem nearly endless.

Chefs Offer Amazing Meals To Tempt LeBron James

lebron jamesThey say the way to a man's heart is through his stomach. Certainly some culinary-minded sports fans are hoping that is the case. While money and the possibility of an NBA title are probably paramount in LeBron James' mind as he considers where to play next, chefs are adding some incentives to sweeten the deal. Cleveland restaurateur and Food Network Iron Chef Michael Symon has said he will go to James' house once a month and cook a meal for his family and friends if James will stay in Cleveland with the Cavaliers. Sounds like a good offer but New York also wants him and among the luminaries tempting LeBron with incentives is chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten who promised free dinners as long as he wants if he moves to the Knicks. In NY Magazine he said "I'll feed him whatever he likes-double chickens." Double chickens? Sounds like LeBron James has some serious thinking to do.

LeBron James To Develop Furniture Line

lebron james and savannah brinsonWe've seen some unusual celebs take to furniture design over the years (Pharrell's unique chair anyone?) but the latest unlikely designer is megastar basketball star LeBron James. Our sister blog ShelterPop reported that James will develop a furniture line with furniture company American Signature. His brand manager LRMR Marketing and his longtime girlfriend Savannah Brinson will also be part of the team. Brinson and James were high school sweethearts and she is the mother of his two children. The pair have been spotted at fashion shows and other designcentric events and she is known for her work administering the LeBron James foundation. Why LeBron James? While sneakers and apparel might be a natural brand tie-in for an athlete furniture is a bit of a stretch but American Signature is sold on both his popularity and reputation as someone who embodies certain wholesome values like teamwork and leadership. The collection will be launched this summer at Value City and American Signature stores and is American Signature's first license. No details on the products and design have been revealed.

A Big Birthday Present For LeBron James

LeBron James might have had the most fabulous 25th birthday ever. LeBron and the Cleveland Cavaliers took on the Atlanta Hawks and were victorious with LeBron clocking in an amazing 48 points. The game was a bit of a squeaker with Anderson Varejao making his first career three-pointer with 17.2 seconds left to give Cleveland a 106-101 victory. In the photo above Lebron James is being presented with a seat cushion in lieu of a present.

The night just got better for the basketball phenom who celebrated with a party at a nightclub with all attendees required to dress in black clothing. After the game, he also got an amazing gift from teammate Shaquille O'Neal, a white Rolls-Royce. This isn't the first time Trump has given this gift, Shaq also gave Donald Trump a white Rolls-Royce for his 2005 wedding present.

LeBron James Part Of Sun Valley Billionaire Confab

lebron jamesAs the LA Times points out, Kobe Bryant may won the NBA championship but it's Cleveland Cavaliers player LeBron James who the billionaires want to talk to in Sun Valley this week. The young player who is building his basketball and financial empire is part of this year's annual Allen & Co. conference in Sun Valley, Idaho. The five-day conference includes many of the world's richest people including Bill Gates, Warren Buffett, Sumner Redstone, Sergey Brin, Mark Zuckerberg and Diane von Furstenberg. Another attendee likely to be in demand will be Twitter co-founder Evan Williams.

The conference takes over the area with private jets filling the local airport and hotel rooms selling out as both attendees and media flock to the event. While the event is supposed to be a hush-hush affair the press often gets the rare chance to spot the wealthy in casual clothes relaxing and enjoying Sun Valley's beautiful scenery. Meanwhile, behind closed doors the future of media itself and how to best monetize the digital world will be one of the topics of conversation.

LeBron James Charity Cuts Staff

LeBron James may make millions but his nonprofit organization isn't so lucky. The LeBron James Family Foundation launched by the Cleveland Cavaliers star is cutting its staff and some of its charitable work. The foundation will still do their annual June bikeathon but will use consultants instead of staff. James has said that the foundation is being streamlined to make better use of money. The foundation may end up only having a board of directors. Charities all over are cutting back. The major draw for sports star charities is of course the name of the player. Over the past few years having a foundation has become pretty much mandatory for players of note in a variety of sports but these charities also depend on community and corporate support which may be lacking in the current economic climate.

LeBron James Plans A Massive Home

The word "massive" really has its work cut out when it comes to describing the new house basketball player LeBron James is building himself and plans to move into next summer. In addition to absolutely "massive" living spaces like a two-story walk-in closet off the master suite, and not only a huge "great room" but an even bigger "grand room" as well, James really outdoes himself (and the rest of the neighborhood) with a casino, a bowling alley, and a barbershop included in the over 35,000 sq feet of house plans.

Throw in a Starbucks and a gas station and he can upgrade from "massive home" to "small town."
