Will Gaultier Leave Hermes?

Could fashion designer Jean Paul Gaultier be out at Hermès? Fashion Week Daily reports that the designer may be resigning from the company after the Paris show in October. Gaultier produces his own collections of ready-to-wear and haute couture and has been the creative director at Hermès for six years. Gaultier has continued to bring excitement and status to the luxury brand whether he's bringing us a luxury version of the cowboy look, aviator chic or traditional Hollywood glamour. If he's out at Hermès those are some big shoes to fill.

Amidst the catwalk flurry at Paris Fashion Week, a new collaboration made its debut: Evian and Jean Paul Gaultier. In the second of its designer series (the first pairing was with Christian Lacroix), Evian announces its release of two bottles designed by the Hermès creative director.

Gaultier has fashioned the Prêt-à-Porter bottle (interlocking snowflakes, oversized lettering) and the Haute Couture bottle (only seven produced worldwide). The Prêt-à-Porter version is available for pre-order on shopevian.com at $13.95 a bottle.

Jean Paul Gaultier Camouflage Shoulder Bag, Handbag of the Day

Camouflage and leather fringe are two of the touchiest fashion elements to work with, and although I'm not sold on whether or not he pulled it off (I'm kind of thinking not) I have to give props to Jean Paul Gaultier for tackling them both on the same bag. The Camouflage Shoulder Bag is made of woven canvas in a camouflage and subtle square pattern print and has leather fringe accenting the sides and front flap. Hidden magnetic closure, textile lining, interior leather pocket, 13 1/2" x 8" x 4 1/2", on sale for $1150.

Jean Paul Gaultier Satin Boxing Shopper, Handbag of the Day

Carrying the Satin Boxing Shopper bag by Jean Paul Gaultier is like carrying a feminine little boxing glove with you. With its sporty stripes down each side and ruching to make it looking look like a padded glove, it'll give you an extra feeling of "bad-ass," even if it is pink (ahem, "violet"). But looks are where that tough edge ends, as up close you'll notice it's made of very girly satin. And the elastic band at the top is purely for looks -- the bag actually has no closure, magnetic or otherwise. Inside it has both a center zip pocket and a side one, with a mesh lining. $680

Jean Paul Gaultier Embroidered Satin Sport Bag, Handbag of the Day

At 20", this padded bag is large enough to work as an overnighter. The Jean Paul Gaultier Embroidered Satin Sport Bag features a Japanese-style embroidered tiger on a burgundy silk satin. The allover striped piping and ribbed knit banding on the sides give the bag a sporty look. The ribbed banding is repeated on the large front kangaroo pocket. It has a large zip closure and 8" rolled leather straps. Inside, the bag is lined in satin and has another zippered pocket. It sells for $1,495.00.
