Burger Joint Makes Jay Leno A Tasty Offer

Should "The Tonight Show" not work out for Jay Leno, one Michigan restaurant has a backup plan for him. Jaws Jumbo Burgers in Farmington Hills has offered Leno a franchise if his next run at NBC late night television ends up not being a success. Just to show that the company is serious it sent an offer to Leno's agent and NBC Universal and posted an ad in the Los Angeles Daily News offering him a Jaws franchise in Burbank, California or anywhere else.

Jaws Jumbo Burgers has courting Leno for a long time. The Detroit News' Neil Rubin reports that when Leno was still hosting "The Tonight Show" the restaurant invited him in for a bite and even named the "Thank You Jay Leno" double-decker burger after him in honor of Leno's performance for out-of-work Michiganians last spring. Conan O'Brien: Divorce from NBC is Ugly and "Crazy Expensive"

If you can't beat them and you are leaving anyway, why not spend all their money?

That seems to be Conan O'Brien's philosophy this week as he embarked on a series of skits and extraordinarily expensive props to put on the appearance that he intended to blow through the Tonight Show budget in one week.

On Wednesday he trotted out a Bugatti Veyron, a rare and pricey sports car that costs as much as some private jets. O'Brien unveiled the Bugatti Veyron, showing the million dollar car embellished with mouse ears and whiskers. O'Brien claimed to have purchased the sports car.

Last night, he upped the ante by bringing out Kentucky Derby winning racehorse Mine That Bird adorned with a mink "Snuggie" and by showing restricted Super Bowl footage. This "crazy expensive" skit, he claimed, cost NBC $4.8 million.

Jay Leno Reportedly Orders the $2 Million Bertone Mantide

Only ten examples of the exclusive Bertone Mantide supercar are scheduled to be built, and one of them will reportedly go to none other than Jay Leno. The famous talk-show host, comedian and car collector was seen hanging out with Bertone's chief designer Jason Castriota at the recently-concluded Goodwood Festival of Speed, where he reportedly fell in love with the exotic creation. So much so that he's apparently ponied up the $2 million to get his hands on the custom-bodied Corvette ZR1. With the first example already delivered and a couple more orders said to already have been placed, that puts Leno fourth or fifth on the secretive order list and makes a fine addition to his legendary car collection.

Jay Leno Sued Over Rare Car

Tonight Show host Jay Leno is a noted car enthusiast but his enthusiasm may have him in a bit of trouble. Bloomberg reports that Leno bought a rare 1931 Duesenberg luxury roadster through what has been called a "sham" auction while the elderly owner was suffering from dementia.. The car in question is a 1931 Duesenberg luxury roadster valued by its owner at $1.7 million. Leno paid $180,000 to the Manhattan garage, that said the owner, now deceased, hadn't paid his bill and sold the Dusenberg and his 1930 Rolls Royce. Wendy Lubin, daughter of late Macy's executive John Straus, has sued Leno, 58, his company Big Dog Productions Inc., and the Upper East Side Windsor Garage where she says the cars were parked for more than 50 years. The complaint filed in New York State Supreme Court in Manhattan says that the cars were auctioned off to satisfy "relatively trivial parking bills." They also says that they garage tried to confuse Straus with multiple bills and refusing his checks to pay the Windsor garage bills, and that they never contacted hi or his family. The plaintiffs seek damages of more than $1.7 million and return of the Duesenberg.
