Over 120 friends, family and bauble lovers convened at arrived at Trump International Hotel and Tower on October 11 to toast the jewelry collection.

Before introducing Ivanka, Marshall Pierce & Company President Jerry Bern stated, "When I first saw Ivanka's line, I was astounded. It was beautiful, the stones quality was off the chart, it was timeless and elegant – a perfect fit for Marshall Pierce & Company."

"We waited and were very disciplined for many many years to introduce the Trump brand to real estate in Chicago," Ivanka said. "We took that same approach as we were looking for the right partner here in Chicago to launch my jewelry line and that is very obviously Marshall Pierce."

RSVIP: BCBG Sponsors Kooky Fun Whitney Museum Art Party

christina ricci lubov azriaApparently, there is an art to dressing up for an art party.

"It took a couple of people to zip me into this dress," Christina Ricci, an early arrival at an off site Whitney Museum soiree, told Luxist, her dark hair artfully ironed flat. The slenderized young actress claimed that friends had squeezed her into the stretchy neo-Herve Leger bandage dress designed by Max Azria, the present owner of the label, and his wife, Lubov. The signature Leger gown created the effect that the wearer had been wrapped up in bandages in the sexiest possible fashion, no spanks needed.

Ricci, best known as Wednesday Addams in "The Addams Family" film series was graciously attending the BCBGMaxAzriaGroup-sponsored Whitney Contemporaries art party and auction on Wednesday, June 9, 2010, at a loftlike space on Mercer Street in SoHo. With a tweak by Bronson Van Wyck, the interior resembled a windblown forest of privet with peony blossoms the size of dinner plates floating in Plexiglass towers. "The Whitney lets us go wild with this party," said the party designer to the stars. "So this year we decided to actually go wild; we brought in wild vegetation, vines, huckleberry, eugenia, and tree peonies, the rarest variety."

Even the privet had sizable white blossoms. "And it only blooms for about three weeks per year," offered Van Wyck.

The space was further decorated by "Lost" beauty Emile de Ravin, who also starred in "Remember Me" with "Twilight" megastar Robert Pattinson but who was dancing with designer Adam Lippes, a host of the party. De Ravin had on an emerald-green dress by BCBG with a flair skirt. Supermodel Alek Wek, who hails from Sudan, kept moving to avoid being swarmed by bold young art collectors with pocket cameras.

The $10,000 Proposal Martini

Filed under: Jewelry, Spirits, Celebrity Design

One of the signs that Spring must be just around the corner is not just that the days start to get longer, but that wedding and proposal specials start to proliferate. Many men must feel a lot of pressure to not only pick the right diamond engagement ring but to propose in such a manner that their fiance will have a great story to tell all of her friends, not to mention her mother. Some people are just naturally creative and others need a little bit of help and inspiration.

The Algonquin Hotel in New York City is prepared to help the creatively impaired, offering what is possibly the most expensive martini ever. The Grey Goose $10,000 proposal cocktail comes with a one-of-a-kind diamond ring placed in the glass. This specialty cocktail is served by a white gloved waiter in a crystal glass on a silver platter in the hotel's famous Blue Bar. The hotel arranges for clients to work one on one with a private jeweler to customize the engagement ring picking carat size, number of stones and the setting. The hotel needs at least 72 hours notice to set up this arrangement.

The hotel opened in 1902 and has long been famous for being the center of the city's literary and theatrical circles. If your intended is a big reader she might get a kick out of being proposed to in the same room where literary geniuses such as William Faulkner, Sinclair Lewis, and Derek Walcott spent their time.

As an aside, should the love of your life be more into spending time at the mall than the local library, Ivanka Trump is serving up a different offer at her Bridal Bar. Any diamond engagement ring bought comes with the "New York Proposal" package featuring a free night at one of the Trump Hotel Collection properties in New York City. The package also comes with complimentary long stemmed roses, champagne, dinner at the famed Jean Georges restaurant as well as breakfast in bed the next morning.

MCM at The Plaza

MCM display at the new Plaza boutique!
Whether you've never heard of the MCM brand or you remember it from the 80's, MCM is making a new start in the United States.

The brand left the U.S. a number of years ago due to hush-hush reasons having to do with their previous owner, Michael Cromer, but stayed alive and well in Europe and Asia (you've seen these designs -- think supermodels' luggage). They have since changed their name from Michael Cromer Munich to Mode Creation Munich, and are running under new leadership: one of the most famous businesswomen in Asia, Sung-Joo Kim.

As the Plaza in New York City completed their renovations this winter, MCM moved in their first American shop in decades. We headed right down to 58th and Fifth Avenue to check out the exciting new store, which has already been visited by Heidi Klum and Ivanka Trump!
