Hautlence 2010 HL Collection Watches

Seen above is the Hautlence HL04 which continues the tradition of the HL lines of "TV screen" watches with a very classy looking version in 18k white gold. 2010 also sees a version in 18k rose gold, as well as a titanium model. Hautlence has been doing quite well as of late with their non-traditional styles, probably because they display a preservation of function and good taste. The watch dial has the time with the hours displayed by a moving disc with a "porthole," the minutes on a cool looking retrograde scale with an exposed mechanism as to how the hand works, and a traditional looking small seconds dial. It all goes together in a tasteful manner that both well balanced and unique. For this HL04, I love the rich brown crocodile strap and blued steel arms and hand that make up the retrograde minute indicator. Inside is a Hautlence manually wound mechanical movement. Look out for the upcoming HL2.0 watch soon. Price for the 2010 HL models (HL03, HL04, and HL Ti) are $62,100, $57,500, and $48,400 respectively.

Hautlence HLC3 & HLC4 Women's Watches

Now available in a round case the fascinating look (and way of reading the time) from Hautlence is given a new look as part of their mechanical HLC movement. While the HL2.0 watch is on the horizon, the round version of the classic is here made fresh, and for the ladies. These are the Hautlence HLC3 and HLC4 watches.

Each is 41mm wide in either 18k white or pink gold. The back plate of the dial is a different style of mother-of-pearl for each watch, and looks very lovely against the technical looking facade of their unique complication. The hours are read via a disc that has a window in it. As it moves, the proper hour numeral is exposed. The minutes are told via a hand that works like a retrograde hand. The hand moves down the scale from 0-60, and then jumps back to 0 at the end of the hour. It is a very nifty watch to rely on, as well as operate. Each is available as well with or without diamond decorated bezels. Love those white reptile straps for the ladies. Prices start at 60,000 Swiss Francs without diamonds.

Hautlence HL08 Watch

New for 2010. Hautlence is giving its "TV screen" style watch line a redesigned face. Inside the watch is the HL08 manually wound movement that features a dial for the hours, retrograde minutes dial with a really unique hand, and a small seconds dial (the most traditional dial of the bunch). The HL08 seems to play with three dimensionality. Everything seems to have height to it. Much of the dial is actually the movement, all nicely hand-decorated for a unique look which is all Hautlence. The case is in 18k white gold and 43.5mm wide by 37mm high (not really as large as it looks). Hautlence has made a great name for itself with these unique looking dials and ways to indicate time, but I think that have boxed themselves in a bit as it is hard to innovate or add complications based on what they have designed. Nevertheless, I look forward to what the brand will release next.

Hautlence HLQ Watch

hautlence hlq
From unique timepiece maker Hautlence comes this beautiful new HLQ watch that refines on the brand's signature style of telling the time. Using a combination of reverse jumping hours, retrograde minutes, and a traditional but attractive subsidiary seconds dial, the Hautlence has a unique and highly legible manner of presenting you with what time it is. I applaud Hautlence for creating such a "different" timepiece that is very attractive and does not neglect functionality.

The first Hautlence watch was more square in shape, while the HLQ has a round 44mm wide rose gold case. The lugs use special pivoting screws for extra wearing comfort. Inside is the manually wound Hautlence HLQ movement named for the watch itself. Given the skeletonization and depth of the face, the watch is still only a very reasonable 10.65mm thick. The face, includes rose gold, as well as special galvanized black gold on bridge edges. The strap is hand-stitched and made from Louisiana alligator. Really a nice little ensemble finally due to be released soon.
