Filed under: Decor, Cosmetics and Fragrance

Godiva Candle Collection, MmmmChocolatier Godiva recently introduced its Home Fragrance Collection of five candles, in collaboration with Laura Slatkin, wife of Harry, of Slatkin & Co.

The nicely-packaged candles come in five scents: Holiday Peppermint Bark, Milk Chocolate Truffle, Black Almond Truffle, White Chocolate Magnolia, and Raspberry Ganache.

The candles are the brand's first foray into the home fragrance category in its more-than 80-year history and represent a departure from Godiva's traditional culinary products.

Neiman Marcus carries the collection. One of these would make a lovely host gift. Reasonably priced at $22.50 each.

Valentine's Sweepstakes: Win a Weekend in Godiva's Chocolate Hotel Suite

Get shopping, because if you purchase the right box of Godiva candy, you could win a May weekend getaway for two in Godiva's all-chocolate Decadence Suite in New York City's Bryant Park Hotel. Godiva does a Valentine's Day promotion each year, and for 2009, anyone who buys the winning box of chocolates -- for $23 and up -- may win the chocolate suite. The winning box, sold only in North America, will contain a note informing the buyer of his or her good luck.

In addition to staying in the suite, the winners also will be treated with several chocolate-themed activities, among which is a private tasting in Godiva's Rockefeller Center boutique and a dinner for two at one of New York's top restaurants. They will also go home with a year's supply of Godiva chocolate.

The room was created by Los Angeles designer Larry Abel and features interior design by Jonathan Adler. Hanging in the "living room" was a painting built of multicolored chocolate pieces inspired by Gustav Klimt's painting The Kiss. Above the dining table was a "canvas" dripping with brown and white chocolate -- a takeoff on Jackson Pollock's signature "drip" paintings. Books opened to a mound of chocolates. A glass-covered table features a design under the glass made up of chocolate pieces. Visitors can feel free to sit on the sofa, which is chocolate-covered only on its sides, but don't touch the chocolate walls, or light the fireplace (with its chocolate logs and mantle) or chocolate candles, or try to snuggle up in the chocolate easy chairs.

Chocolate Companies Offer Luxury Valentine Contests

Two major chocolate companies are offering luxury contests for Valentine's Day:

Dove Chocolate and Kwiat Diamonds have teamed up for the My Dove "Expressions of Love" Contest. Entrants have 51 characters or less to express their love on the My Dove Chocolate website. The most romantic message will win the writer a 5.58 carat diamond and platinum necklace from Kwiat Diamonds and a gift box filled with their winning message printed on the personalized My Dove foils to commemorate the special message.

To win Godiva's contest you have to either buy a box of Godiva chocolates or send away for a free game piece. Their contest has one grand prize which is a trip to New York City for two, staying two nights in a Godiva chocolate-themed suite, a private chocolate tasting, spa services and a private dinner for two. 100 first prize winners will get a Special Collectors Gift Box of Godiva chocolates and products.

To celebrate Valentine's Day, Godiva has decided to give away a million ways to say "I love you" - by which we mean that they're giving away a $1,000,000 worth of Hearts On Fire diamond jewelry, as well as a year-long supply of Godiva chocolates. The prize is intended to be the "ultimate extravagance" as far as chocolate and diamonds go, but it will only go to one lucky winner. Two runners up will receive $50,000 worth of diamond jewelry, as well as the year's supply of chocolate. All three winners will be announced on or around Valentine's Day.

The sweepstakes was unveiled by Sienna Miller, who is one of the spokespeople for Hearts On Fire and wore some of their jewelry in addition to her Cartier at the Golden Globes. Participation codes to enter the drawing can be picked up at Godiva Boutiques and authorized Hearts On Fire retailers .

Godiva Pumpkin Patch Truffles

One reason to drop in to Godiva this month is to try their Pumpkin Patch Truffles. Instead of just wrapping up chocolates in orange and black wrappers in a weak attempt at seasonality, the chocolatier goes all-out by creating a uniquely fall-flavored confection. The truffles have a pumpkin-spiced ganache center and are coated in a velvety milk chocolate. As a final touch, the truffles are lightly dusted with cinnamon before being wrapped up link miniature pumpkins - complete with tiny leaves. It's $12.50 for a 3.25-ounce package with five truffles.
