Million-Euro GTbyCitroen Reportedly Approved for Extremely Limited Production

Filed under: Luxury Cars & Autos

Looking for another way to spend seven figures on a new exotic sportscar? Sadly, we're not either, but if we were, we'd be excited by the prospect of getting our hands on the GTbyCitroen. Oddly named, quirky styled, but unrivaled presence are what characterize the concept car that epitomizes art imitating life. Initially designed as a fantasy for the Gran Turismo video game series, Citroen put one real-life example on display at last year's Paris Auto Salon, where it garnered so much interest that the French automaker has reportedly decided to put it into production.

We initially reported on the prospect earlier this month, but rumor has it that Citroen has finally given it the green light. Only six examples are said to be in the pipeline at a very exclusive price of £1.1 million (or about $1.83 million in American terms). Interested parties will be able to see the solitary existing prototype drive up the hill at the Goodwood Festival of Speed under the auspices of the Earl of March in a couple of weeks, with a production version tipped to bow at the Frankfurt auto show this coming September.

Citroen Considers Building Million-Euro Supercar

Filed under: Luxury Cars & Autos

If you've got a seven figures to spend on an exotic supercar, there are plenty of companies that will be glad to help out. Between the Bugatti Veyron, Lamborghini Reventon, Aston Martin One-77, and Mercedes SLR Stirling Moss, supercars keep getting more and more expensive. But even in these difficult financial times, there appears to be a wealth of wealthy individuals looking for new ways to spend their money. And the latest to (potentially) join the fold is probably one of the last automakers you'd expect: Citroen.

Although the French automaker is working on entering the premium market with its new DS line, what you see here is another beast entirely. Called the GTbyCitroen, the concept car was a joint effort between the carmaker and the creators of the popular Gran Turismo video game series on Sony Playstation. The car was unveiled at the 2008 Paris Auto Salon, but aside from making it into the latest version of the game, that's about as far as it was ever meant to go. However Citroen reports that there have been sufficient inquiries from interested parties to consider actually building it in limited quantities: 15 to be exact, at a price of one million euros apiece. Citroen says it will have made its decision within the next four weeks, so stay tuned.

Tudor GranTour Date Ref. 20050N Watch

Tudor watches are relatively unknown in the United States, probably because you can't find them in the United States. That might be changing soon as the brand is revitalizing their marketing efforts. Who is Tudor? Well, think of it as a baby Rolex. That is right, Rolex-owned Tudor has been selling similarly themed watches for years, marketed toward people not quite able to afford Rolex, or who want something a bit different. The new line of Tudor watches is more sporty looking that most Rolex watches but has a similar demeanor. They feel like Rolex's baby brother brand, and it is an important niche.

Pictured is their new Grantour watch inspired by auto racing, GT racing to be exact - where stamina and distance are more important than brute power. In addition to the three-hand model, a chronograph version fills out the collection. Inside are automatic mechanical movements as you would expect. Based on the current markets that Tudor primarily serves, the sizes of the steel watches are modest at 41mm wide. Vintage themed dials do clarity and the racing theme justice, while the perforated leather strap is a nice touch. I consider this watch to be an alternative to the famous Chopard Mille Miglia. The case is also water resistant to 150 meters, while the black in the bezel is lacquer. A lot of the same polish that you get with a Rolex, but just a bit more entry-level.
