Ligne Roset Seating For 2011

High-end furniture maker Ligne Roset just unveiled (among many other items) much of their new collection of chairs, sofas, and other types of seating furniture for 2011 at the latest IMM furniture fair in Cologne. The collection does not disappoint - and the brand again features items from great designers that are a mix of modern,ergonomic, and un-ordinary. These pieces are useful and I feel can add some interesting "dimensions" to a space. I am fascinated by seating so I focused on that part of their new collection. Chairs have an interesting need to be both attractive, useful, and ergonomically healthy. In total, Ligne Roset debuted 31 pieces at the show. Fortunoff Plans Line Of Outdoor Furniture Stores

Fortunoff is back in business, well, sort of. The outdoor furniture and jewelry store brand filed Chapter 11 and was liquidated earlier this year. However, the name may live on. The Chair King, a Texas outdoor furniture store chain, has purchased a controlling interest in Furniture Concepts, a company created by two former Fortunoff execs and a member of the Fortunoff family. Furniture Concepts owns licensing rights to the Fortunoff brand of outdoor furniture and seasonal products in the United States. The plan is to open six Fortunoff Backyard Stores on Long Island and New Jersey on Feb. 1, 2010. There are no plans to bring back the jewelry side of the Fortunoff business.

Lulu Guinness 50's Furniture Shop Carmen, Handbag of the Day

Lulu Guinness remains one of my favorite handbag designers. Her bags are instantly recognizable for their unique and whimsical design. This one, from the Autumn/Winter 2007 collection, depicts a 1950's furniture shop scene embroidered upon black patent leather. I love the details - especially the star-burst clock hanging on the wall of the shop and the L.G. monogram on the door. I also like the shape - a large box with a full sized zip closure. It is a cute bag with a retro vibe. £195.00.
