Ferrari Enzo Prototype For Sale at $1 Million

If you're in the market for a million-dollar Ferrari supercar, the Enzo ought to do the trick and then some. And unless you live in Monte Carlo or Abu Dhabi, you're unlikely to see another one on the road. But if you want something even more rare, look no further than the vehicle you see here.

Developed as a prototype for the Enzo, this one-of-a-kind test mule may look like nothing more than a modified 348 (one of the least loved Ferraris of all time), but then that's what they said about the 288 GTO that gave birth in similar fashion to the legendary F40.

The prototype packs a 670-horsepower V12 lifted from a Scuderia Ferrari F1 race car with a six-speed sequential transmission, and is available for sale from German dealership Modena Motorsport for 750,000 euros – equivalent to approximately $1 million.

New Ferrari F70 Revealed?

With the limited edition $850,000 successor to the Ferrari Enzo due in less than a year's time speculation as to what the "hypercar", dubbed the F70 (for now), will look like and run on is reaching a fever pitch. In the latest update, Ferrari Chairman Luca Cordero di Montezemolo has hinted that it could in fact be a hybrid with technology borrowed from the marque's 599 HY-KERS (Kinetic Energy Recovery System) concept shown at the Geneva Motor Show. Di Montezemolo told Autoweek the nouveau Enzo "will incorporate the state of the art of our knowledge in terms of increasing performances while reducing fuel consumption and emissions. It will then influence all Ferraris that appear after it." Meanwhile, designer Radovan Varicak has come out with a convincing vision (above) of what the F70 could turn out like no matter what's under the bonnet. Looks good so far.

Is This the New Ferrari Enzo?

There's been plenty of speculation surrounding Ferrari's long-awaited successor to the iconic Enzo, usually referred to as the F70. After some revealing remarks from Ferrari CEO Amedeo Felisa recently, the new vehicle is beginning to take shape. Most insiders agree the F70 will be based on the marque's lightweight Millechili supercar concept combined with some tech from the FXX or racetrack version of the Enzo. The resulting "hypercar" (rendering above) is expected to feature a carbon fiber chassis and be powered by a direct-injection twin-turbo V8. Look for the F70 to hit 0 – 62 mph in three seconds with a top speed in excess of 230 mph. Also expect it to be limited to just 399 examples like the Enzo, available for purchase by invitation only with a pricetag in the $850,000 range when it's released in 2012.

Here at Luxist we write a lot about the world's most expensive cars. Now the London Telegraph has compiled a list of the world's most expensive car wrecks, following Jackie Stewart's trashing of a Pagani Zonda supercar in Scotland, which my colleague Noah Joseph reported on last week. Here's the paper's list of flaming Ferraris, burned-out Bugattis and other smashed-up supercars. The values given are those at the time the crashes occurred as calculated by the Telegraph. Let's hope all the insurance was in order:

Chef Who Trashed Enzo Gets 10 Weeks in Jail

The angry British chef who trashed Jamiroquai frontman Jay Kay's Ferrari Enzo (above) at a seaside resort last month has been sentenced to 10 weeks in jail for causing £9,434 worth of damage to the $1.4 million supercar. Aaron Billington told the judge he went ballistic and hurled rocks at the rock star's Enzo after Kay, who had mocked the chef's stutter, invited two girls back to his hotel room for an orgy following a bout of drinking.

Billington's lawyer said the chef flew off the handle because he had an "emotional attachment" to one of the women in question, the UK Daily Star reports. "The criminal damage may have been committed in drink, but the car was plainly someone's pride and joy," the judge observed in passing sentence. "You wouldn't have a car like that otherwise." Next time try trashing a Toyota, pal - it's cheaper all around.

Angry Chef Trashes Rock Star's Ferrari Enzo

Jamiroquai frontman Jay Kay's $1.4 million Ferrari Enzo (above) was trashed by an enraged chef at a seaside resort where the rock star had gone for a little R&R earlier this week. Kay had driven the supercar to the 3-star Brudenell Hotel on England's Suffolk Coast and was staying there when his over-the-top attitude angered the hotel's chef, Aaron Billington, the UK AutoTrader reports. Apparently it was Billington's night off, and he and others were socializing with Kay in the hotel's bar. After several rounds of drinks it seems Kay made some derogatory remarks - according to one report he ridiculed the others' lesser vehicles, bragging about the Enzo parked outside - angering Billington.

The chef was later seen throwing rocks at the Enzo, shattering the windscreen and smashing the driver's side window. The damage was estimated at £30,000 or about $42,000. Billington later told the local court he committed the crime in a "moment of madness" after becoming upset by Kay's "offensive" remarks. Asked to comment, Kay, 39, remarked, "It's disappointing. It says something about the British psyche." Kay, who appears on the hit British TV show Top Gear, has an amazing collection of supercars among which the beautiful black Enzo is his prized possession. His fleet includes a Ferrari F40, Ferrari F50, a Rolls-Royce Phantom and a selection of classic cars including a Lamborghini Miura, Mercedes-Benz 300SL roadster and an Aston Martin DB5.

Rod Stewart's Ferrari F430 Spider for Sale

Superstar singer Rod Stewart's red Ferrari F430 Spider (above) is for sale in the UK. Stewart is a longtime Ferrari enthusiast who changes models every few years; before the F430 he had a bright yellow 575 Maranello grand tourer V12, and he was also one of the first to buy an Enzo. The F430 is equipped with a 4.3-liter V8 producing 483 h.p., for a 0-60 mph time of 4 seconds and a top speed of 196 mph.

The bodywork of Stewart's F430 is finished in classic red with a cream leather interior, red contrast stitching and carpets, and a carbon fiber dashboard. The car, which has only 6,800 miles on the odometer, cost $245,000 when Stewart purchased it new in 2005, and is now being offered for $150,000. Not bad for a Ferrari with a pedigree from one of the top ten biggest-selling artists in recording history. The UK Auto Trader has the listing.

Pharrell Williams Rocks Two Rolls-Royces

Musician, producer and designer Pharrell Williams needs not one but two Rolls-Royces to get around town - when he isn't driving one of his other supercars, that is. The producer of acts including Madonna, Justin Timberlake, Kanye West and Jay-Z bemoans the fact that the Rolls has become too popular with rappers, but says it still preserves some cachet.

"In the early days, the cars were rarities," Williams tells Motor Trend. Now however, "They're kind of ubiquitous. [But] the saving grace is: It's still a Rolls. Every stitch and every tiny detail are brilliant. It's traditional and consistent quality. They spare nothing. Also, you can drive it just how you're feeling. It can be a luxury vehicle or you can really put your foot in it and it darts out like an arrow. I had a Bentley but it wasn't for me. At the end of the day, a Rolls is a Rolls."

He likes 'em so much he has two, a Phantom for being chauffered in - ""I sit in the back and recline with my gold Blackberry, like Richie Rich" - and a Phantom Drophead Coupe for driving himself, in black with a red leather interior. He also has a Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren and a Ferrari Enzo. As for the latter, "Man, you have to be in the mood to drive that," Williams tells the mag. "It's so fast, it's like being in a spaceship or a stealth bomber. And there's no radio, so I can't have any tunes. I love it but you really have to be in race car mode."

Ferrari V4 Superbike Concept Based on the Enzo

Israeli industrial designer Amir Glinik has come up with an incredible Ferrari motorcycle concept using a modified engine from the Ferrari Enzo supercar. Using drive-by-wire technology, the V4 superbike features hand controls adapted from an F-16 fighter jet and buttons based on those found on the steering wheel of Ferrari's Formula 1 racecars. Other controls for the sound system and trip computer are located on an all weather touchscreen.

"Vintage and modern Ferrari projects influence my design," Glinik notes. "It's a mix of what I find to be the best Ferrari lines with the latest technology I could think of in terms of engine, gear and driving management." He has also made a version in bright yellow. As far as how fast it goes and how much the bike would cost, we can only speculate about very big numbers in both cases. We have no idea if Glinik's V4, which he's been working on for the past few years, will ever reach the production stage, but we think he's got a real winner here.

Famously Smashed Ferrari Enzo Up For Sale

Remember that Ferrari Enzo that Eddie Griffin "accidentally" smashed into a wall while promoting his car-centered movie Redline? Jalopnik reveals that the car which was severely damaged in the front end and believed to be totaled, has been restored by car dealer Matt Groner of Matthew's Autos in Houston Texas. As Groner explains in a letter to Jalopnik he bought the car in Los Angeles. He usually sells the cars in their damaged states but decided to get the parts from Italy and restore the car. The good-as-new car is now up for sale for $1.3 million.

Fabulous Ferraris Go on the Block in Italy

An incredible collection of Ferraris spanning 50-plus years of the company's history goes up for auction this Sunday at the Ferrari factory in Maranello. The stars of the sale are undoubtedly a 1961 250 GT SWB California Spyder that belonged to The Magnificent Seven star James Coburn, which is estimated at $4.6 - $5.9 million; and a 1964 250 Le Mans, est. $6.5 million - $7.4 million, making it one of the most expensive Ferraris ever to go on the block. There are plenty of other incredible machines on offer in the Ferrari: Leggenda e Passione event being staged by RM Auctions, however.

Our personal favorite is this beautiful 1962 250 GT Lusso, the very first production unit and one of only three known examples raced, which is considerably cheaper at est. $1.2 million - $1.5 million. Other highlights include a 1990 Ferrari F40 Le Mans, est. $1.5 million - $2.1 million; a 2004 Enzo specially made for a member of a Middle Eastern royal family in a one-off shade of gray, est. $1.2 million - $1.5 million; and a dashing dark blue 1967 GTB/4, est. $1.2 million - $1.6 million. Woman Auctions Ferrari Enzo and Herself

Sure you'd like to have a Ferrari Enzo, how about having a girlfriend to go with it. Reuters reports that a woman living in Germany is selling her Ferrari Enzo on eBay and including herself in on the deal. The 26-year-old woman says she will meet with interested bidders and is looking for a man as wealthy as she is. She worked as a singer in Syria and the auction includes her picture. No bids yet for the lovely lady and her car.

Producer To Destroy His Own Carrera GT For Movie

The announcement of a new movie starring Eddie Griffin isn't usually exciting news but this may be the first one that I have heard about whether the producer offers up his own cars for the action scenes. "Redline" will be an auto thriller that will include the personal car collection of the producer, real estate investor Daniel Sadek. Sadek who is financing the $26 million movie will be using his own cars including a Phantom, Lamborghini Murcielago, Enzo Ferrari, Ferrari F430, Ferrari Scaglietti and two Mercedes McLarens. Sadek's $200,000 Porsche Carrera GT will be crashed during one sequence. Perhaps he should hire Stefan Eriksson as a stunt driver.

Enzo Crash Driver Stefan Eriksson Arrested

Well, it certainly took long enough but Stefan Eriksson, the former Gizmondo chief who spectacularly smashed a Ferrari Enzo on Pacific Coast Highway in Malibu, has been arrested on suspicion of grand theft. Eriksson was arrested at his Bel-Air home on Saturday but it's not clear whether or not they thing he stole the Ferrari. He is being held without bail. As we mentioned earlier, last month police impounded a Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren driven by Eriksson's wife. I guess this means what we suspected all along, that the shadowy figure of "Dietrich" that Eriksson said was driving the car didn't really exist.

More Details Emerging on the Enzo Crash

More info on that $1 million Ferrari Enzo crash that happened on Pacific Coast Highway in Malibu. As has been widely reported, Stefan Eriksson, the former executive officer of Gizmondo was the passenger (or more likely the driver) in the crashed car. More and more details are emerging as Spong.com says they have talked to some investigating officers who said that the speed of the car may be have been 162 MPH. It is expected that Eriksson will likely get away with a slap on the wrist paying a comparatively small fine. There are also questions about whether Eriksson owned the car. According to paper work, the Bank of Scotland had repossessed the vehicle and Eriksson may have shipped the car to the U.S. to avoid giving it up.
