Georgica Manor, Estate of the Day

Today's home in East Hampton, New York is build as a designer's home but I haven't been able to find out the identity of the designer. The 14,000 square foot stone and stucco manor house on 1.3 acres overlooking a 17-acre meadow preserve minutes from the ocean. The home is beautifully turned out with a dramatic double-height entry hall with some sort of sculpture, a living room with coffered ceiling, formal dining room, large kitchen/family room, library and the coolest room in the house, a circular domed office. The master suite has a study and twin baths and there are four additional guest bedroom suites. The finished basement has a playroom, wine storage, gym and two staff bedrooms. The property includes a heated pool, stone pool house and a garage. The lovely designer furnishings are available separately. It's listed at $17 million.

Kimora Lee And Russell Simmons In Saddle River, Estate of the Day

A recent post on the Real Estalker inspired me to take a look at the real estate doings of Kimora Lee Simmons. Simmons and ex-husband Russell Simmons have a variety of properties. Kimora made our slow sellers list for a home in the Beverly Hills Post office area that she was trying to sell for over a year but after knocking the price down to the price she bought it for ($5.9 million) it has been pulled from the market. Meanwhile Simmons has put a modest three-bedroom ranch-style home in East Hampton, New York on the market for $800,000. The simple home has none of Kimora's ostentatious style and may have been used for guests.

For a real look at Kimora's style check out the Saddle River, New Jersey home that Kimora Lee and Russell have been trying to sell for a few years. We've been talking about this home for a few years but never given in full estate of the day treatment. It was once listed for $23.888 million dropped to $19.888 million and then pulled off the market. But as Homes of the Rich pointed out last month, the exes are giving it another trying, relisting the lavish mansion at $16.5 million. The 10-bedroom home famous for its cinema-worthy home theater, professional fitness center, wine cellar with bar seating and painted rotunda has made the rounds of various television shows and magazines. It has both indoor and outdoor pools, staff quarters, a pool house and a security system designed by the White House security company.

First Annual Ferrari Hamptons Rally This Weekend

On Saturday, Sept. 5, the First Annual Ferrari Hamptons Rally will kick off in an excess of East End glamour. The invite-only festivities begin with an exclusive VIP brunch reception at the Georgica Restaurant & Lounge in East Hampton. Participants in the Rally will then pilot their Ferraris - over $30 million worth - past breathtaking estates, polo fields, vineyards, marinas and the ocean, through East Hampton, Amagansett, Sag Harbor, and Southampton. At its conclusion the gaggle of jet-setters, celebs, socialites, media and business moguls will be treated to a late afternoon fête complete with specially-created cocktails and hors d'oeuvres. The Rally's founder, real estate entrepreneur, restaurant and nightlife impresario and Ferrari collector Nathaniel Christian is co-hosting the event with Nikki Beach Midtown, the Manhattan outpost of the world-renowned Nikki Beach brand. Rally sponsors include Grey Goose Vodka, Monticello Motor Club, Puma, Piper-Heidsieck Champagne, Red Bull, Voss Water, Hamptons Magazine and Ferrari of Long Island, among others.

Ralph Lauren East Hampton Historical Society Collection

In celebration of Ralph Lauren's relationship with the East Hampton Historical Society, the company is introducing a new collection of EHHS-branded apparel and accessories under the Polo label for Summer 2009, with 100 percent of the proceeds going to the Society. The new collection includes men's waffle t-shirts; hooded sweatshirts and t-shirts adorned with archival imagery from the EHHS; baseball caps; and canvas beach totes (above). The trademark whale logo is a nod to the whaling industry that was an important component to the Hamptons' economy during Colonial times.

Beginning in June 2008, Polo Ralph Lauren announced that it would underwrite the ongoing restoration of the barns and landscape of the East Hampton Historical Society's renowned Mulford Farm, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and is considered one of America's most significant, intact English Colonial farmsteads. Lauren's support will allow the Society to complete its goal of restoring the estate to its former glory. The EHHS collection will be available online and at select Ralph Lauren stores.

Hermès Opens Pop Up Store in East Hampton

Despite the burgeoning recession Hermès is opening a new store in East Hampton this summer, but the French luxury goods firm is hedging its bets and the shop will shut its doors come September 20. "We have 22 of our own boutiques in the U.S. - East Hampton will be 22 and a half," Hermès President and CEO Robert Chavez tells the East Hampton Star. He said the company had been eyeing a Hamptons location for a while but that a permanent location just doesn't make sense these days.

"We just weren't ready to commit to a long-term lease," he notes, "knowing that obviously the key selling period is in the summer months when most people are there." Most Hamptons retailers are doing the same this season. The Hermès pop up boutique has a more casual feel, is painted a crisp white and features displays of scarves, handbags, neckties, housewares, bathing suits and beach towels. There's also an equestrian section featuring a one-of-a-kind white leather saddle, "price available upon request."

Mariah Carey's Summer Vacation Rental, Stone Meadow Farm, Estate of the Day

It's hard not to envy Mariah Carey's Hamptons adventures. Last summer she made herself cozy in Tommy Hilfiger's tribute to the tasteful use of orange and this summer Braden Keil of the NY Post reports that Mariah is renting Stone Meadow Farm in East Hampton for on week for $125,000 (less than half of the reported $350,000 she spent on Hilfiger's pad but that was for a month).

Like Hilfiger's place was, this one is also up for sale. Stone Meadow Farm is on eight acres and has a 18,000 square foot house with 10 bedrooms and 12.5 bathrooms done up in white and dark brown with white walls and furnishings and dark wood floors and wood tables. The shingled expanse includes a 3500 sq ft finished lower level with a spa and media room.

The grounds include two separate cottages to house guests or staff as well as stone courtyards, large patios, a heated Gunite pool and a tennis court. The barn can stable five horses and there are ample riding fields. This home is listed for $19.95 million.

Halcyon's Luxury Helicopter Packages to the Hamptons

The trip, which can take up to four hours on the Long Island Expressway in typical summer traffic, is a mere 45 minutes by helicopter. The Hamptons: Behind the Hedges & Beyond the Dunes

In his preface to Jake Rajs' beautiful new book, Beyond the Dunes: A Portrait of the Hamptons (Monacelli Press, $60), New Yorker architecture critic Paul Goldberger notes the photographer "shows us a vision of the Hamptons at once beautiful and fragile, prosperous but not smug." No easy feat when it comes to portraying such a storied locale, and Rajs manages it magnificently. The book is divided into geographical sections of the South Fork: Westhampton, Quogue and Hampton Bays; Shinnecock and Southampton; Water Mill, Bridgehampton and Sagaponack; Sag Harbor and the Springs; East Hampton and Amagansett; and Montauk (or, as we like to call them: No Money, Old Money, New Money, Some Money, More Money and What Money?). Along the way he finds everything from privet hedges to pumpkin fields and fishermen to polo players. Pictured here is an imposing "cottage" on Southampton's fabled Gin Lane. Tommy Hilfiger's Place, Estate of the Day

I first heard about this home last spring when Tommy Hilfiger bought in on Further Lane in East Hampton. It was reported that Hilfiger spend around $18 million and planned to create his own furniture for the home. Fast forward a few months and Tommy is ready to move on. The home has five bedrooms, a media room, Boffi kitchen and an outdoor mahogany pavilion. There is also a vanishing edge pool and a private boardwalk leading to the ocean. About that furniture, Hilfiger did go to Bali and oversee the design of it. According to the Wall Street Journal article by Ben Casselman, the $24.5 million asking price doesn't include the furniture although it can be bougt separately. Normandie, Estate of the Day

Today's estate isn't a waterfront Hamptons blockbuster but it does occupy a spot on scenic Lily Pond Lane in East Hampton, New York. Normandie was designed in 1914 by architect John Custis Lawrence. The five-bedroom main house has four fireplaces and staff quarters all on one story. There is also a two-bedroom guest house and a large pool house with two changing rooms and two baths. The entire estate is 2.8 acres. The interior is in need of a little renovation it looks like it hasn't been updated in many years. The home is listed at $24 million. Lasata, Estate of the Day

Our estate of the day comes from a tip in the NY Post's Gimme Shelter section. Lasata, which is located in East Hampton, New York was one of the summer homes of the Bouvier family in the 1920s. The stately home was designed by architect Arthur Jackson and built in 1917. Its name means place of peace and the gorgeous home sits on over six acres. The home has six bedrooms and there is a pool. It is listed at $25 million. interior shots and pictures of the formal gardens after the jump.
