Green Pet Homes from Sustainable Pet

It's all about being green lately, and if you're like many people you probably even made a New Years resolution this year that had something to do with being friendlier to the environment. Green Pet Homes from Sustainable Pet can help you (and your pet) be greener while not sacrificing in the beauty or style departments. I do a lot of container gardening so I'm loving these pet houses/garden combinations -- very earthy and natural without looking cheap or shabby. Not to mention it's always nice to have fresh herbs in the kitchen! $1000-$6000.

The Cape Dog House

cape cod houseThe Cape Dog House from Bella Dogga is a traditional dog house on a slant. The dog house is constructed of heavy-duty 1/2 inch birch plywood that is painted a dark blue-gray, and topped with classic New England cedar shake shingles. The walls lean out slightly so that it is wider at the top than at the bottom giving your dog a sense of spaciousness in his new home. It also has cute oddly-shaped windows. Your dog's quirky new home sells for $675.

Custom Pet Mansions

Pets deserve as much luxury as their owners, but when your house is finally decorated perfectly, it might not turn out to be dog or cat friendly. The solution is to get Fido his own house - a custom-built pet mansion. The colonial version ($6,160) is pictured, but the houses can be made to any scale or design. You can ever get a miniature replica of your own home! Once the house is build, it can be furnished and decorated in any manner you choose. If you fence in the house and add a pool, you can turn a (relatively) simple dog house into a doggie estate

Pet Pavilions by David Salmon

David Salmon makes fine custom furniture that would be suitable for any manor home or palazzo. Spanning ages in design, from Jacobean to Napoleonic, Salmon is capable of crafting incredibly intricate pieces that bring the grandeur of bygone eras to the modern furnishings world. But it's not his grand beds that conjure scenes from fairy tales, nor his Georgian banqueting tables that capture our fancy. No, it's his doggie beds, more finely called "Pet Pavilions." Available in several styles to match your decor, these pampered pooch perches will enable your precious pets the ability to sleep in the lap of luxury. I love the Louis Pavilion with French Rosewood and gilding. You may prefer the Queen Charlotte Tester Bed with brass finials and luxurious drapes. I'd say the dog's life just got a little easier.
