Patti LaBelle, dressed in Zang Toi, walks down the runway at The Heart Truth's Red Dress Collection 2011 fashion show in New York.

The Heart Truth's Red Dress Collection 2011 Fashion Show kicked off Fashion Week at Lincoln Center in New York last evening. The celebrity-studded affair celebrated the national awareness campaign for women about heart disease. Celebrity models included Ann Curry, Audrina Patridge, Camila Alves, Denise Richards, Dita Von Teese, Eve, Gayle King, Giuliana Rancic, Julianne Hough, Laila Ali, Linda Gray, Natasha Bedingfield, Patti LaBelle (see photo above and video below), Suzanne Somers (see photo below) and several others (featured in slideshow below). Watch the full video of the show on MyDaily.

There were plenty of celebrities in the audience to watch the presentation, including actor Matthew McConaughey and Apprentice-winning Bill Rancic, who were both there to cheer on their significant others (Camila Alves and Giuliana Rancic, respectively).

Many of the participants have a personal connection to heart disease, which motivated them to become involved in the show. "It turned out to be a lot of fun---now that it is over," The Today Show's Ann Curry, who was stunning in Carmen Marc Valvo (see slideshow below), told Luxist. "It wasn't so much fun leading up to it because I was kind of nervous. I have never done anything like this before."

Haute-burlesque queen Dita Von Teese has been brought on by Perrier, the famed French sparkling mineral water, to inject some sex appeal into the brand in a big way. Von Teese's sultry looks adorn a new limited edition bottling of the water, and she also stars in a new interactive website dubbed Perrier By Dita that's so steamy it carries a caution to youngsters. Set in the lavish "Perrier Mansion", it positions the viewer as a man arriving in a Porsche 911 to find the alluring Dita waiting inside. Behind one door you then take pictures of Dita in sexy poses, while behind the other you play a game with the curvy temptress wherein she acts out instructions engraved on a set of special dice that involve her removing clothing and dousing herself in Perrier. See the video above which is quite literally a "teaser".

The Fashion Statement: Paris Couture Pares Back

The haute couture shows in Paris are in full swing, but rather than enjoy the spectacle, fashion watchers have the nagging suspicion they are witnessing the end of an era.

Sure, clothing that can cost as much as a house, have little relevance in today's world-only a handful of women in the world can afford the custom-made pieces. And fashion houses like Jean Paul Gaultier, pictured above, create the looks mostly for press and to promote brand awareness and maintain an image. (Dita Von Teese guest strutted in black wire and stockings.) But the Great Recession has sped up the decline of an institution of fashion, the highest level a designer can achieve, the crème de la crème of the biz. It's sad!

Signs of decline are all there. Shows have been reduced to six spanning three days. Sets have been pared back. Givenchy eschewed a show altogether to stage "presentations," or museum like display on dress forms-a sure sign of financial conservatism.

"Why not just hang a sign on the door that says, 'Shut?'" wrote Cathy Horyn yesterday in The New York Times.

Dita Von Teese Debuts Wonderbra Collection

Haute-burlesque queen Dita Von Teese, whose controversial Cointreau ads we told you about in April, will debut her new collection for Wonderbra in Europe on Sept. 23rd.

The limited-edition, vintage-esque pieces, inspired by old Hollywood glamour with a touch of Bettie Page, come in three lines dubbed Multi-Teese, Spot-Teese and Satin-Teese, and also include panties and garter belts. Some of the bras feature an innovation of Dita's own devising: quick-release clasps so they're easier to remove than conventional models.

"Lingerie shouldn't be something you just put on for your lover; you should do it for you," Dita said in a statement announcing the collection. "It's not about seducing men, it's about embracing womanhood."

Dita Von Teese Gets "Cointreau-versial"

On Monday night, top-drawer French liqueur Cointreau celebrated their partnership with new brand ambassador Dita Von Teese at an elaborate event in NYC. The shindig at the Angel Orensanz Center saw the U.S. debut of "Be Contreauversial," the haute-burlesque dancer's new performance, involving a giant martini glass, of course. Cointreau has committed to a two-year collaboration with Von Teese, who was briefly (and disastrously) married to Marilyn Manson.

The event also served as the debut of the Cointreau Teese, a new cocktail created in Dita's honor using violet syrup. Here's the recipe (see the Gallery for a photo):

1 ½ oz. Cointreau
¾ oz. apple juice
½ oz. Monin violet syrup
½ oz. fresh lemon juice

Shake and strain into a martini glass with a ginger-frosted rim; garnish with a violet. Bottoms up.
