Devi Kroell Two-Tone Satchel, Handbag of the Day

devi kroell satchelIf you ever been hesitant to mix black and brown in your outfit, Devi Kroell's Two-Tone Satchel ($1390) will help the lead the way. Using black as the predominant color, various shades of brown are incorporated into the bag's body, while a textured silver rod helps to break up a dark color palette and add a little shimmer. While Kroell's Satchel is on the small side (7" H x 12" W x 5.5" D), the interior, which has a zip pocket and two interior compartments, is roomy enough for your personal items without making the bag bulky.

Summer is starting and it's time for some new sunglasses. The Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) and Luxottica have teamed up with designers Devi Kroell, Kara Ross and Matt Murphy to create a limited edition Vogue Eyewear Collection. The collection marks the first time that each of these designers has designed sunglasses. The collection is launching this month exclusively at Sunglass Hut and each style will retail for $129.95.

Shown above are the Devi Kroell Whip sunglasses. The Whip has a modern safari look with a snakeskin texture in a creamy ivory shade with gold-toned mirrored lenses and metal accents on the nose bridge. Two more designs and a video after the jump.

Devi Kroell Leaves Her Own Design Firm

devi kroellFashion designer Devi Kroell is stepping away from the company that bears her name. WWD reports that Kroell told her staff on Tuesday the she is resigning as the CEO and creative director of the company but will remain a shareholder and a member of the board of directors. The interim CEO is Ralph Bartel whose family has been the silent financial partner behind Kroell's business since 2008 and bought the majority stake several months ago.

Kroell began the company with a line of luxury handbags in 2004, branching out into other accessories and finally showing ready to wear in 2009. Devi Kroell opened a Madison Avenue flagship in New York last fall. Although the announcement was just made, Devi Kroell is already said to have other projects in the works. She's far from the first designer to leave an eponymous company behind, others include Jil Sander and Helmut Lang.

Devi Kroell Twist Bag in Waxed Python, Handbag of the Day

Devi Kroell Twist Bag in Waxed PythonThe Devi Kroell Twist Bag in Waxed Python is a divine everyday bag for someone with a flair for the subtly unusual.

The overall shape of this Berry colored bag (it also comes in Coal and Black) is quite simple, but the second strap's twist is striking and graceful. At 15" x 6" x 26", this elegant handbag is large enough for work documents and sophisticated enough for the office -- but also interesting enough to bring along to brunch or dinner, as well.

There's something very harmonious about it.

Waxed python this fine looks great with everything (well, everything that also looks great; if you're wearing pink vinyl it can't solve your problems), and this Italian-made bag is an inspired example.

The Devi Kroell Twist Bag in Waxed Python is available from Devi Kroell for $2,590.00.

Devi Kroell Accordion, Handbag of the Day

Devi Kroell AccordionThe Devi Kroell Accordion bag is delicately sized at 12" x 8 1/4" x 4 3/4", the perfect size for a boxy little purse. When box-shaped purses get too small, they look twee, and when too large, they appear to be luggage.

The expanding, accordion-style design of this bag exudes "functionality," which makes it an excellent accessory for the woman who doesn't wish too appear to flashy in these somber economic times. The subtle colors are demure and modest.

Still, this Italian made bag doesn't skimp on the luxury. It is crafted from from origami eel and sea snake and retails for $4,150 at Devi Kroell. It also comes in black, complimented with silver.

Devi Kroell Silk Explosion Clutch, Handbag of the Day

Devi Kroell Black Gold Framed Silk Explosion ClutchDevi Kroell has established herself as one of the finest handbag designers in the world. In the tradition of her framed clutches, like this Satin Frame Clutch we covered in June, we bring you the Silk Explosion Clutch.

The Devi Kroell Silk Explosion Clutch comes in purple, saffron and black gold (pictured), and features soft black silk adorned with great big "What struggling economy?" jewels. The detachable chain allows it to be worn as a clutch or an over-the-shoulder purse.

The thing I like most about this piece is its versatility. It would go well with solid colored dresses as well as most prints, and could also dress up a heels-and-jeans outfit very nicely, perhaps with a crsp white shirt.

The Silk Explosion Clutch is 9" by 4.5", and can be purchased here from Devi Kroell fo $1,490.

Devi Kroell Satin Frame Clutch, Handbag of the Day

Yay for big fake jewels! I think this bag is the perfect accessory when your 'little black dress' needs a bit more bling but you're not necessarily looking to be obnoxious. It's the Satin Frame Clutch by Devi Kroell and it's convertible -- use the solid chain or don't (you can hide it inside the bag). Silver satin embellished with appliqué rhinestones, silver metal hardware, and a press clasp closure with jewel detail on the top. This is one of the few bags with no interior pocket, all that resides inside is the lining and a silver metal logo. $1.290

Devi Kroell, Classic Hobo Bag

Devi Kroell launched her luxury handbag collection in Spring 2004, instantly her designs became favorites among stylists and haute purse lovers. In the last few years Vogue, W, Harper's Bazaar, and Elle have all written articles praising Devi, and her collections have been featured in countless fashion spreads. Kroell Classic Large Hobo Bags retail for $3190, making them some of the more expensive purses I have seen in awhile. Crafted in Italy of shiny metallic python, they're available online in lilac (shown), gold, steel, black and silver. The dark brown version is made from ostrich and costs $5990!

Devi Kroell Bottle Bag, Handbag of the Day

Bright, cheerful, simple, but unique. I love the design of this Bottle Bag by Devi Kroell, but the name isn't particularly endearing (makes me think of a baby's bottle). Each Bottle Bag has a flat bottom (I always prefer bags that will sit up on their own) and gathering at the top with gold or silver metal hardware and a cute little chain. Available in several colors of satin (this yellow is my favorite), gold or silver mesh is also available for an even more formal look. 3 1/4" x 6 3/4", $1290 (satin)/$2790 (mesh).

Devi Kroell Wooden and Crystal Clutch

I'm not sure what you could actually fit in Devi Kroell's Wooden and Crystal Clutch - probably just lipstick and some credit cards - but it's very cute. This would be great for an evening out on the town. The colors are neutral enough that it would match almost any outfit. Made of nut wood and swarovski crystals it measures at 5 1/4" x 3 1/2".
