Kenneth Jay Lane Ladybug Clutch, Handbag of the Day

Bugs on a bag might not sound all that attractive, but when it's a ladybug, it is nothing short of cute. Cinching up a strip of soft Italian leather, the gold-plated, crystal-encrusted ladybug adds a bit of whimsy and color to an otherwise plain clutch. Under the flap is a magnetic snap closure and inside, the bag is lined in satin and has a removable mirror. Measuring 10½"W x 5"H x 2"D, this clutch is just as cute in the metallic gold version. $250.

I am loving the French blue of this bag and the gently curved silhouette. Accented with gold tone details, the bag sports a chain-inset strap and a large zippered top. Black piping adds subtle contrast to the decidedly unfussy design and a simple flap pocket adorns the front. Lined in suede, the Italian-made bag measures 13½"W X 15"H X 5½"D and has an 11" strap drop. $1295.

The words "bling bling" conjure images of something gaudy and over-the-top, which I don't think is appropriate for this lovely little bag. Obviously vintage-inspired, the 'fabric' of this metal-frame bag is created from linked Crystals, forming an open weave of jewels over the silver lining. More crystals dot the handle and the clasp is set with a large Swarovski Crystal accent. Measuring 8"W X 5½" D, this perfect party bag sells for $900.

Petite and funky, the Virginie is made from nappa leather swathed in Mourmansky fur. In contrast with the luxurious softness of the bag, the silver-tone handle is beautifully done in a solid, but not chunky, design. It is fluffy and fun and might even help keep you warm on a cold winter night. It has a zip top closure and measures 7.02" x 7.8" x 2.34" and has handle drop of 7.8". $675.

Loyd Maish Hobo Chain Python, Handbag of the Day

It may be small, but this bag just glows with chic style. It's a small-scale hobo that looks dainty and elegant swinging from the chunky chain strap. Cinched and rich, the black snakeskin has a shine to rival the chain and it all comes together beautifully. It's a dressy little bag, but I can still see it classing up a pair of jeans. £759.00.

This little bag oozes sophistication. Gorgeous patent leather is subtly crinkled and accented with tonal top-stitching on the seams and handles. With just the bare minimum of gold-tone hardware, this frame top satchel might be simply styled, but it really packs a punch in gorgeous cherry red. It's also available in jet black, but that one just doesn't have the wow factor that this one does. $347.

I like the elongated shape and unusual color of this bag. And it looks so comfy with the extra-wide padded straps and soft washed calfskin leather. The over-sized front flap pockets and handle attachments sport decorative antique brass studs and the extra-long tassel on the zipper closure adds a bit of fun. Inside, the bag is lined in fuchsia suede and has zip, patch and cell pockets. With the addition of protective metal feet, it has everything I look for in a casual, everyday bag. Measuring 12" x 12" x 5", it sells for $417.

Tasseled zippered pockets and contrasting leather straps on either side continue the sporty look and the long detachable shoulder strap make it easy to carry. Inside the bag is lined and features a nice long zippered pocket. Measuring 11"H x 19"L x 6"D, this made-in-America bag sells for $540.

Here is a nice classic bag that won't ever go out of style. And at $230, it is a relatively small investment to make in a wardrobe staple. With the classic cream, red and brown large check print and reinforced leather corners, it is crisp and simple and goes with just about anything. With a little silver-tone hardware on the strap and a zip top opening, you just can't go wrong with this petite bag. Bag measurements: 3 ¾"H x 6 ½"W x 3 ½"D.

This is a sharp looking leather bag with lots of nice silver-tone detail. Why did they have to go and ruin it with that cotton web strap? I like the contrast, but black leather would have been a better choice, I think. Looking past the adjustable strap, the little pouchette is pretty with the details and at 10"x6.5"x3.5", it is a nice compact size. The bag is also available in black and dark khaki, presumably with the same icky strap. $1065.

This substantial tote has lots of details - twin belted straps threaded through rings, tabbed zippers on either side, more rings attaching the shoulder straps and and a wide tab closure that locks. Plus, there is even a bit of metal on the strap itself. But the best looking part of this bag is the buttery soft leather itself. It's a shapely bag that might look a little pear shaped when full, but don't we all? $1550

I like anything handmade and orange is my color - so this bag seems tailor made just for me. Free form swirls are handstiched and studded with nickel against a deep orange leather. And it's not just the front of the bag that gets this attention to detail - the stitching and studs continue on the reverse as well as on the broad leather handle. Also on the back side is a large zip pocket with a simple tassel pull. Inside, the bag is lined and features a beautifully stitched, leather-trimmed zipper pocket. $650.
