Cigar smokers should be the easiest people in your life for whom to shop, with a clear interest that is easy to address. But, if you want to go the extra mile, finding that perfect present can be daunting. This is especially the case on Valentine's Day, when you really want to send a loving, thoughtful message. Obviously, the smart move is to take the pressure off yourself, tell your loved one that he or she is in fact a loved one and celebrate what you have with each other.

Of course, we're rarely that easy on ourselves at this time of year!

If you have a cigar smoker in your life, here are five ideas from Vin Lee, CEO of the Beverly Hills Cigar Club, to make Valentine's Day a bit easier for you ... and a bit enjoyable for him or her:

1. S.T. Dupont Limited Edition Shaman Series Lighter: got a grand to burn, so to speak? This impressive piece will set you back $1,000, but it's sure to impress. The white pearlized lacquer with mother-of-pearl inlays is stunning, and whipping this lighter out to ignite a cigar is a clear sign of taste.

2. Bugatti 3 Chrome Satin/Chrome Polished Traditional Flame Lighter: this one won't hurt your wallet as much as the Shaman (at only $150), but it will nonetheless garner plenty of attention. And, it's one of Lee's favorites.

What will you cut and light when you pop the cork on New Year's Eve? People may agonize over champagne choices, but cigars don't always get commensurate attention. Fortunately, Vin lee, CEO of the Beverly Hills Cigar Club, was on hand to provide his recommendations for the biggest party night of the year. Below are his top five cigar and champagne pairings, designed to make your first sip and puff of 2011 ideal.

Lee is particularly excited about the new year. "Now is the time for the world to celebrate its recovery and success," he said. "For the New Year, from Dubai to Paris and from New York to Beverly Hills, it is time for the world to rejoice in what we have and who we are. Coming together with a glass of bubbly and a fine cigar, let's welcome 2011."

Last week, cigar smokers took over the roof of upscale gentlemen's club Rick's Cabaret in Manhattan. With a view of the Empire State Building, not to mention the impeccable local talent, dozens came to cut, light puff and imbibe.

The event, organized by Barry Stein the man behind the cigar blog "A Cigar Smoker," attracted a large and varied group of cigar smokers, making the Rick's roof feel like your local cigar shop (though with the obvious differences). As hors d'oeuvres were passed and drinks sipped, on-the-spot back rubs were delivered expertly by roving masseuses, and cigars were abundant. Conversation flowed freely and easily, especially with my new blogging buddy the Social Vixen.

Hendrik "Henke" Kelner has been busy this year. The blending guru not only released the Puro d'Oro and the new De La Concha house cigar, but he's also created Second Growth, a brand inspired by wine for importer Eric Hanson. It was launched on May 26, 2010 at Club Macanudo in Manhattan.

The Second Growth sticks tend to be on the mild side, writes David Savona of Cigar Aficonado, and they were made specifically to pair with fine wines. The boxes are built from used wine barrels. Said Hanson, "I purchased 50 barrels from a second-growth Bordeaux chateau."

The cigar comes in one size: 7 ¼ by 54. It sells for $32.50 a stick, and only 1,000 boxes were made.

The best things come to those who wait, it seems. For the first time in 10 years, Davidoff has introduced new line of cigars. The creation, the Puro d'Oro line is the first "puro" by Davidoff and has been a labor of love for the company's master blender, Henke Kelner, who worked diligently to find the right conditions in a remote corner of the Dominican Republic.

The Puro de Oro is a medium-bodied cigar and is packed with flavor. But, if you're expecting a traditional Davidoff smoke, you'll be surprised. It has a taste all its own, due in large part to the effort that has gone into production, and the unique soil and weather conditions on which Kelner relied to make this cigar possible.

Disclosure: I attended the launch and interviewed Henke Kelner at a media event hosted by Davidoff at its Madison Avenue store in Manhattan. Free cigars were available at the event and were given to all in attendance. Would I have covered the story anyway? Well, for the chance to interview Henke Kelner, definitely.

It's always risky to introduce a new cigar into the market. In addition to the normal new product launch challenges, there is no shortage of sticks out there today, to the point where Eddie Ortega decided not to bring anything new to shelves this year. In New York, however, the local shop where I cut and light has made space in the humidor for a new house cigar, the De La Concha Selection Premium.

This is the store's second house blend, following the Grand Reserve by Pepin Garcia, which was released in late 2003. Unlike the Nicaraguan cigar, the new blend is banded and sold in boxes (the Grand Reserve is bundled). But, that's just the beginning of the difference. The Selection Premium is a fundamentally different cigar. It's made by Davidoff, which owns De La Concha – and it tastes very much like a Davidoff product. There are some clear similarities to the Millennium, with which the Selection Premium shares a wrapper, and it is more complex than the Grand Reserve, which tends to be a tad more linear and emphasizes boldness over complexity.

Every year, Avo Uvezian releases a new cigar for his birthday ... and it's always incredible. My first encounter with Avo's birthday cigar was the Avo 80, celebrating eight decades of the master himself. Last year, it was the Campanero, which may have been better than the Avo 80, though I haven't had the latter in a few years, so a comparison is impossible. This year, Avo turns 84, and he's celebrating his birthday with the Avo Limited Edition LE10.

The LE10 is made from an Ecuadoran sun-grown wrapper and has a Mexican Sumatra binder. The filler consists of Dominican ligero tobacco. The cigar has a ring gauge of 55 and is 5 ½ inches long; Davidoff is calling it a "super robusto" and says that it is full-bodied.

The LE10 tour will begin in Salem, New Hampshire at Two Guys Smoke Shop on March 17, 2010 and comes to Manhattan the next day, with a visit to Davidoff of Geneva. In total, Avo will make 13 stops across the United States. View all locations below.

If you are driving a Bentley, rest your left hand gently on the rearview mirror just out the window -- this is how other drivers will notice your stunning Patek Philippe watch. At least, this is how you should roll if you're a millionaire in China.

According to a survey by Hurun magazine, China's wealthy love watches by Cartier and Patek Philippe and like to slip behind the wheel of Bentleys. Vacations in the United States are also favored. But, for cigarettes and first-class flights, Chinese millionaires like to keep it local. Air China tops the list for luxury flights, and Chunghwa is the favorite tobacco, according to Hurun, with Chinese who have at least $1.46 million in wealth. Unlike cigarettes, though, the favorite cigar brand, Davidoff, is from abroad.

The average respondent to the Hurun survey takes 15 days off a year, on average, has three cars and owns five watches that cost at least $10,000 each.

According to Rupert Hoogewerf, chief researcher and founder of Hurun, the Chinese "have a greater awareness of brands." He continued to Bloomberg News, "They are also more international-minded and keener to give their children a foreign education." Four out of five are planning to send their kids to school abroad for high school and beyond, with the United States the preferred destination.

Being wealthy doesn't mean this community is finished coveting. Now that they are taking more time off, 50 percent want to buy a yacht, and 15 percent would love a private jet.

Davidoff quietly announces another handsome and subtle timepiece that probably deserves more credit that it will get. The oval shaped steel case is a nice aspect of the design and is 46mm wide and water resistant to 50 meters. There is a AR coated sapphire crystal over the dial and another sapphire crystal over the movement on the rear of the watch showing a view to the Davidoff personalized automatic rotor.

Style features, while not seemingly original are pleasant. From the partially skeletonized lugs to the interesting engravings and textures on the dial and chapter ring. To me, much of the design seems to be borrowed from one place or another, but the mosaic of elements is satisfying nonetheless. The brown alligator strap goes well with the steel and gray tones of the dial, and there is that almost necessary splash of red on the dial. The movement is a Swiss automatic Valjoux 7750 with a Soprod 753024h module that provides the GMT complication. Good that there is a 24 hour dial on the chapter ring. It is a relatively nice watch, especially for fans of the brand. Otherwise I see the watch having a bit of a hard time standing out from all the rest.

Davidoff's new Zino Embassy Selection Limited Edition Perfecto is the latest taste of luxury to come out of the Swiss company. This new cigar consists of a Honduran blend that is powerful, spicy and sophisticated without being overbearing. The perfecto-sized cigar is 6 inches long and has a ring gauge of 53. It sports an Ecuadorian Special Sun Grown Wrapper that was made in only limited quantities -- with Davidoff given the rights of exclusive distribution.

Look for the Zino Embassy Selection in a gorgeous burgundy box, and the 10-count size does make this cigar a tad more accessible to the full range of cigar smokers. Crack open the box, and you can admire the new black and gold Zino band that has been designed for the occasion.

Nothing compares to the perfect pairing of champagne and a cigar. Too often, cigars wind up with dark liquors, their natural partners. Rum, port, scotch and cognac are the norm for an after-dinner smoke -- not champagne. With the holiday season coming, of course, the preferred beverage will likely bubble, so finding the right cigars for the top libation will be crucial.

Fortunately, Vin Lee, CEO of the Beverly Hills Cigar Club, has agreed to help us out. As you prepare for the new year, take a look at the cigar and champagne pairings that he recommends, with both ubiquitous and rare products on the list. Lee says, "In this day and age, not everyone can afford a $50 cigar and a $300 bottle of champagne," said Lee. "Complementing a wonderful glass of champagne with a great cigar for the holidays is something everyone should be able to enjoy."

What do you get the cigar smoker who already has humidors of various sizes that are stocked with rare and exceptional cigars, several upscale cutters and a collection of S.T. Dupont lighters? Davidoff has solved that problem for you this year. The Swiss tobacconist has devised an accessory that screams conspicuous luxury: the Davidoff cigar band. If the paper ring that comes on the cigar just isn't good enough for you, you can replace it with the leather-and-precious metal variant released only a few months ago and manufactured in a very limited quantity.

The use of this device is straightforward: remove the band from your favorite cigar, wrap the Davidoff alternative around the stick and fasten the clasp. Then, be sure to hold your cigar shoulder-high between puffs, to make sure everyone sees how it is adorned (that is the point, after all). Many cigar smokers are known to show off their labels, but none will be able to compare to the Davidoff ring.

When using this accessory, remember to remove it when the ember is an inch away – you don't want to damage the leather. Also, be sure to take it off before you toss the smoked cigar in the ash tray. It would be a shame to forget this item in the lounge (though whoever finds it would be pretty happy).

If cigar smoking is a visual affair for you, the Davidoff cigar band is the best way to be seen smoking. But, make sure you put it on a great cigar – or at least have the presence of mind to shove the "It's a Boy" label in your pocket so you don't get busted.

Last week, Davidoff Madison Avenue celebrated the launch of its new S.T. Dupont "shop-in-shop" concept. Guests were hosted by general manager Michael Herklots to wine and hors d'oeuvres as they walked through Manhattan's upscale tobacconist and perused the latest accessories from the Parisian luxury goods company. In attendance, and offering a few words, was Alain Crevet, CEO of S.T. Dupont Paris, who celebrated the partnership.

"There's been a wonderful synergy and working relationship for a number of years between the Davidoff stores in New York and S.T. Dupont," said Herklots. "We're excited to take this next step with our two brands. Our beautiful Madison Avenue flagship store has always maintained a selection of the finest cigars and good life accessories including those by S.T. Dupont. This new collaboration with S.T. Dupont allows us to offer our customers an even greater range of unique merchandise, in keeping with what they've come to expect from Davidoff of Geneva in New York City."

The shop-in-shop corner within the store is packed with an extensive selection of S.T. Dupont merchandise. Though the company's products are not new to Davidoff Madison Avenue, the build-out offers a unique venue in which to enjoy the Dupont experience. In a tough market for cigars and cigar accessories, the expansion of the Davidoff/S.T. Dupont gives cigar smokers a reason to be excited.

To look at this small Manhattan eatery, you'd never make the connection. Tucked in the atrium of the IBM building on the corner of Madison Avenue and E 56th Street, Obika seems like just another dine-and-dash joint to service the suited masses within a three-block radius. To judge this shop on a glance alone, however, would be a grievous error. In reality, its clientele consists of a mix of ardent regulars and tourists (mostly from Europe) who are committed to the magic made at this mozzarella bar. The customers' zeal was evident by their presence alone on May 21, 2009, when Obika catered the latest De La Concha cigar dinner.

Anthony Fauci, a partner in the restaurant, represented Obika at the cigar event, held in the store where he and his brother, James, have been regulars for as long as anyone can remember. In a new twist on what has become a regular occurrence for the Manhattan tobacconist, Obika provided a mozzarella and pasta tasting menu designed to complement the Camacho cigars featured.

The event was standing room only, as Obika took over the shop – lining the counters for food preparation and consumption. Instead of opting for traditional sit-down meals, store general manager Ron Melendi opted for a more fluid approach, in which guests could stand, sit at a boardroom style table at the front of the store or eat on available counters.

The Avo Campanero is at least the best Avo limited edition cigar since the Avo 80. It might be better, but I haven't smoked the latter in a year and a half or so, so a comparison would be unfair. Anyway, the Campanero does not need to be measured against a predecessor; it does just fine on its own.

When you pick up the Campanero – even before you cut and light – you can tell you have something special between your fingers. The wrapper has a slightly reddish tint, and a quick sniff of the unlit tobacco suggests a little "zing," a sign of the taste that will come when the stick is ignited. I've smoked a handful of Avo Campaneros, and the construction has been incredibly consistent. The cigar burns evenly (even if it doesn't start with a competent torch-handler) and steadily from foot to cap. For me, the smoke takes an hour, though I do have a tendency to burn through cigars fairly quickly. If you add conversation, coffee or a cocktail to the experience, the Campanero could deliver up to an hour and a half of satisfaction.
