David LaChapelle Lists L.A. House for $1.65 Million

Provocative fashion photographer David LaChapelle has listed his 1920s Spanish-style house in Los Angeles for $1.65 million. The three-bed, two-bath 1912-sq.-ft. pad, which is adjacent to the famed Chateau Marmont, is screened from the street by palm trees and features an open floor plan, tons of light, great outdoor spaces and a full-sized tiled pool with a secluded spa. It also has a newly remodeled kitchen, beautiful dark hardwood floors and views of the city lights. Considering that Mick Jagger's girlfriend L'Wren Scott and punk god Henry Rollins are also selling their Hollywood houses, we have to wonder whether all the cool people are fleeing Los Angeles. Hopefully they're just trading up.

The house was first put up for sale in January for $1.55 million and quickly listed in the MLS as looking for backup but recently appeared back on the market at its new price.

Gisele & Angelina Star in Christie's Photo Sale

On Nov. 19, Christie's in London will auction off a stunning collection of photographs including some provocative shots of the world's most beautiful women. From a purely aesthetic standpoint the highlight of these is this 2000 portrait of Brazilian bombshell Gisele Bundchen by Mark Seliger, estimated at $9,000 to $12,000 - a relative bargain compared to Martin Schoeller's 2003 Angelina Jolie with Blood, est. at $23,000 - $39,000.

Also included in the sale: Albert Watson's 1993 nude Kate Moss, Marrakech, est. at $23,000 - $31,000; David LaChapelle's 1999 Britney Spears, Baby, est. $23,000 - $31,000; Michel Comte's 1996 James King, New York City, est. $6,000 - $9,000; and Gavin Bond's 2007 snap of Victoria's Secret stunner Adriana Lima, est. $5,000 - $8,000.

LaChappelle's NY Pad, Estate of the Day

Today's estate comes from a report in the Wall Street Journal's Private Properties. Photographer David LaChapelle is famous for his provocative photographs of Pamela Anderson and other celebs. His sixth floor East Village co-op is infused with his distinctive style but manages to avoid being a cotton candy funhouse. The 1,350-square-foot apartment has two bedrooms, a surprisingly restrained formal dining room and a 300-square-foot living room. The corner unit has views of the Empire State Building and the Chrysler Building. Details include beamed ceilings, crystal doorknobs, original moldings, and imported mosaic tiles as well as LaChapelle touches such as a vivid turquoise bathroom. It is listed at $1.95 million. After the jump, dreary bedroom? Add a big honking mural.
