Abramovich's Girlfriend Takes Over Luxury Fashion Mag

Dasha Zhukova, the stunning 27-year-old girlfriend of Russian oligarch Roman Abramovich, has been named the new editor-in-chief of hip British luxury fashion mag POP. Zhukova is the co-founder of the fashion label Kova & T, as well as the Garage Centre for Contemporary Culture, Moscow's largest private art gallery. Despite an utter lack of magazine experience, she'll be working in partnership with POP editorial director Ashley Heath, leading some to snipe that she only got the job thanks to her mega-rich boyfriend.

"I am tremendously excited to take on this challenge," Zhukova, pictured above at right with Russian supermodel Natalia Vodianova, tells the London Telegraph. "I feel it's the perfect time to be showcasing and encouraging new energy and talent. We are working hard on a complete revamp of the magazine in order to provide a broader point of view focusing also on art, contemporary culture and the globalization of all things pop-related." The magazine is being relaunched on the 1st of September.

Abramovich Buys Dasha 100 Acres of Land on the Moon

The moonNow that's a gift. I have always wanted someone to give me the moon. Now they can.

Chelsea Football Club Owner and famous spender Roman Abramovich has given his girlfriend Dasha a truly celestial gift: 100 acres of land on the moon.

The land was purchased from The Lunar Embassy, which offers "deeds" to an acre of moon-land for around $20 apiece, as well as "Extraterrestrial Domain Names" and an opportunity to have your name written on an "Archival Disk" that will be stored on the moon.

Lunatic: Someone who has been staring at the moon too long and has lost their mind.

Abramovich's Girlfriend Parties with Supermodels in Moscow

Our friends at Kempt spotted Dasha Zhukova, Russian oligarch / Luxist mascot Roman Abramovich's gorgeous 27-year-old girlfriend, partying with supermodels and movie stars at an A-list art gallery opening in Moscow the other night. Zhukova (right) rubbed elbows with the likes of Russian supermodel Natalia Vodianova (left), sexy star of several ad campaigns, at the opening for megabucks art dealer Larry Gagosian in a former chocolate factory. As we reported recently, Abramovich has bankrolled a new Moscow art gallery for Zhukova, which will mount a major Francis Bacon exhibition in 2010. At the Gagosian show, works by the likes of Jeff Koons and Vuitton collaborator Takashi Murakami were on display.

Hirst Rakes in $200 Million in Two Days

Art world provocateur Damien Hirst just raked in a staggering $200.8 million in total over his two-day solo sale at Sotheby's in London, shattering pre-sale estimates. The dollar figure set a new world record for an auction dedicated to a single artist, Reuters reports. Fittingly enough since Hirst recently compared himself to Picasso, the previous solo sale record was set in 1993 at a Picasso auction; Hirst's total is ten times as large.

Although buyers of works such as the gold-dipped bull which went for nearly $18 million have not been identified, we're guessing the name of one Roman Abramovich will soon surface, especially since his hot young gallery-owning girlfriend Dasha Zhukova was given a personal, private tour of the Sotheby's inventory by Hirst himself prior to the event. In any case the jackpot should help shore up Hirst's claim that he is now a bona fide billionaire.

Abramovich Bankrolls Bacon Show at Girlfriend's Gallery

Profligate Russian billionaire Roman Abramovich is bankrolling a major Francis Bacon exhibition at his gorgeous 27-year-old girlfriend Dasha Zhukova's new Moscow art gallery in 2010. The show at the luxe gallery, called the Garage Center for Contemporary Culture and also financed by Abramovich, will be entitled Death Shadowing Life: Francis Bacon: The Late Paintings, 1971-92, and will subsequently travel to the Hermitage Museum in St. Petersburg, The Art Newspaper reports. The announcement would seem to explain Abramovich's astounding $86.3 million acquisition of a Bacon triptych at Sotheby's in May. Zhukova's gallery officially opens on Sept. 16 with an Ilya Kabakov retrospective.
