Fashion Accessories for the Motoring Gentleman from GTO London

Filed under: Luxury Cars & Autos, Men's Style

Some people are easier to shop for than others. Connoisseurs of fine wines, cognac, whisky, cigars and any of a dozen or more different forms of the finer things in life will be easy to please come the holiday season. Lovers of classic cars – be they owners themselves or simply enthusiasts – have no shortage of gift options available to them as well. Case in point the latest collection from GTO London.

Now those three letters will be immediately recognized by Ferrari fans as having adorned some of the most devastatingly quick vehicles ever produced in Maranello: the '60s-era 250 GTO, the 288 GTO of the '80s and the latest 599 GTO. These accessories for the motoring aficionado may not be licensed by the factory, but they certainly carry the same spirit.

GTO London is an offshoot of GTO Engineering, one of the world's experts in classic Ferrari restoration. Their range includes such items as cufflinks, wallets, tie pins and – suitably enough – keychains, of course. They're crafted from leather, silver, gold and even reclaimed "real Ferrari metal" from GTO's restoration projects.

Black Diamond Serpent Cufflinks by Brad Pitt & Angelina Jolie for Asprey

Filed under: Jewelry, Charity, Men's Style, Celebrity Design

brad pitt and angelina jolie for asprey
Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie have designed an $11,000 pair of black diamond, emerald and white gold serpent cufflinks for famed London luxury goods house Asprey to benefit a children's charity. The luxe accessories are the first item for men in the Protector Collection, the line of limited edition fine jewels and silver objects created by the couple in collaboration with Asprey which my colleague Deirdre Woollard reported on last fall. The design of the Protector black diamond serpent links with 18k white gold bases and emerald eyes is based on Jolie's reflection on the serpent as an iconic guardian and cultural symbol of family protection, inspired by a ring she was given while pregnant with the couple's first child Shiloh in 2006. Each piece in Protector Collection is a limited edition, handcrafted at Asprey's London flagship store in New Bond Street. The black diamond serpent cufflinks match rings, earrings and a pendant in the women's collection. All proceeds from the Protector Collection pieces are being donated to the Education Partnership For Children of Conflict (EPCC). Co-founded by Jolie, the organization raises awareness and funds to educate child victims of war, conflict and natural disasters.

Cufflinks Made from Prince Charles' Aston Martin

Filed under: Luxury Cars & Autos, Men's Style

A while back when Prince Charles converted his beloved 1970 Aston Martin DB6 Volante, a 21st birthday present from his mummy the Queen of England, to run on wine, there were some spare engine parts left over. Now London-based TMB Artmetal, makers of "provenance" items fashioned from parts of automotive, aeronautic, locomotive and maritime icons, has come out with limited edition cufflinks made from the original aluminum engine pistons removed during the conversion. There are two editions of 100 pairs, each priced at £995 or about $1,600, finished with 18ct gold. One edition is an exact, miniature sculpture of the DB6 Volante, whilst the other replicates the car's iconic wheel spinners – the quick-release fixing that secures the Aston's wheels. All profits go to Charles' youth charity, The Prince's Trust.

Fluid Forms Cufflinks Keep You Close to the Land

fluid forms cufflinksWe're not sure why you'd want a topographical map etched on a set of sterling silver cufflinks. However, like the judiciary, if it's legal then we don't need to concern ourselves with your intentions, and neither, for that matter, will Fluid Forms. The Austrian company will be glad to etch a section of the huge prairie deal you just closed in Montana -- or that Arcadia to which you and Mary Jane retired after senior Prom -- onto a small sliver of 925 silver for some 'links, a brooch, even a pendant.

And because, like the Earth, you're made of many things, Fluid Forms' work isn't limited to corporeal jewelry in silver. If it can be rendered in three dimensions, they can probably fashion it. Their Serene Salt & Pepper Shakers are particularly intriguing, the QR barcode belt buckles are a geek fashionista's dream, and they make Earth Bowls that look like they do their best work supporting your fruit collection. If you'll excuse us, we're going to see if we can have them create a topographical map of... Mary Jane...
