Famed photographer Albert Watson, whose celebrity portraits and nudes of Kate Moss fetch astonishing prices at auction, has come out with a stunning new 40-year retrospective of his work. Titled UFO, which stands for "Unified Fashion Objectives", the massive monograph includes iconic shots of famous faces from 50 Cent, Christy Turlington, Sean Penn, Johnny Depp, Uma Thurman, Beyonce and Jack Nicholson are interspersed with still lifes, fashion images and more, personally selected by Watson from his vast archive. Many of the images in the book have never been published before and are presented here for the very first time. The slipcased volume is also available as a limited edition book for $500 including an archival pigment print of 500 copies only, housed in a black acrylic case. Individually signed and numbered, the limited edition is available exclusively through galleries representing Albert Watson and selected retailers.

Trio of Supermodels to Star in New Vuitton Campaign

Louis Vuitton has tapped a trio of supermodels to star in its upcoming ad campaign for fall, espousing a sophisticated and feminine aesthetic. Natalia Vodianova (above), Christy Turlington and Karen Elson appear in the ads shot by Steven Meisel, set in a movie star's dressing room conjuring up a Hollywood retro-glamor feel. "The strength of Louis Vuitton is its almost magical ability to reinvent itself every season," Vuitton creative director Marc Jacobs tells Vogue UK. "Last season was all about the idea of the New Age traveler. This season was a manifesto for beautiful, ladylike clothes. Two different collections, two different campaigns, but one Louis Vuitton." Antoine Arnault, Vuitton's head of communications, calls the Meisel shoot (his fourth advertising venture for the famed French luxury house) "richly evocative", noting, "What better way to celebrate eternal femininity than with three of the world's most beautiful women?"

Christy Turlington's Sexy New W Cover Shoot

This past summer we reported on a very sexy Christy Turlington shoot in W magazine wherein she posed as a "Greco-Roman warrior-goddess". For the magazine's brand new January issue, the stunning supermodel appears on the cover and in a multi-page spread inside showcasing spring fashions, shot by Mario Sorrenti. "With her perfect features and yoga honed body, Christy represents the unmatched standard in beauty," notes Models.com. "After all these years she still radiates high gloss perfection." It seems the Supermodel Revival continues apace.

Vanity Fair Celebrates Supermodel Comeback

Last month we reported that top fashion brands were once again bringing back the supermodels of the 1990s to star in new fall ad campaigns for the likes of Prada, Chanel, Yves Saint Laurent and Louis Vuitton.

Vanity Fair has now picked up on the trend, with an eight page story in the new September issue and a photo shoot by Mario Testino (right) featuring Cindy Crawford, Stephanie Seymour, Christy Turlington, Linda Evangelista, Claudia Schiffer and Naomi Campbell.

Though they're all obviously in great shape, Testino somehow makes Seymour look as if she's made entirely of plastic, while the gorgeous Schiffer looks more like a hausfrau than a supermodel. Perhaps the lighting and make-up is to blame. The shoot was originally rumored to be for the magazine's cover, but we can see why they went with Carla Bruni instead.

Christy Turlington's Stunning W Magazine Shoot

While we're on the subject of the Supermodel Comeback - which we think will be in the news for a while yet - it's worth pointing out Christy Turlington's stunning new shoot in the August issue of W magazine, titled "Champion". The 39-year-old knockout, who as we mentioned has been re-signed as the face of German fashion house Escada, poses as a "Greco-Roman warrior-goddess" for photog Michael Thompson in old-school black-and-white. Talk about classical beauty - obviously all that yoga and being married to Ed Burns agrees with her.

Fashion Brands Still Sold on Supermodels for Fall

Back in April we commented on the fact that several major fashion houses had chosen to bring back '90s supermodels such as Claudia Schiffer, Christy Turlington and Naomi Campbell for their spring ad campaigns. We speculated at the time that the revival was no mere flash in the pan and would continue for subsequent seasons; the new crop of fall ad campaigns has now proved our prognostications correct. Top of the heap is Linda Evangelista's new series of ads for Prada shot by Steven Meisel (above), which rates as a major comeback for the ageless beauty.

In addition, both Chanel and Salvatore Ferragamo have kept Schiffer for their new fall campaigns, while Turlington returns for Escada as well. Elsewhere, Naomi Campbell appears for Yves Saint Laurent and Amber Valletta does the honors for DSquared, Iceberg and David Yurman; while as we mentioned previously Eva Herzigova and Kate Moss heat up the new Louis Vuitton and Just Cavalli campaigns respectively. Top Fashion Brands Fall Back In Love With Supermodels

After several years of scrambling after hot new faces, a slew of the world's top fashion houses have decided to take a more classic approach for Spring/Summer '08, showcasing supermodels who ruled the Earth in the 1990s in their latest ad campaigns. The top indicator that the supes are back in town is artist Richard Prince's new campaign for the Louis Vuitton bags he designed, starring a gaggle of semi-retired stars: Stephanie Seymour, Naomi Campbell, Claudia Schiffer and Eva Herzigova, all sprawled on the hood of a kandy-kolored muscle car.

This season, Schiffer also appears in ads for Salvatore Ferragamo as well as Chanel, along with Christy Turlington, who's now also the face of Escada. Herzigova also stars in the new Roberto Cavalli and Chopard campaigns, while Shalom Harlow meanwhile does the honors for Valentino, Tumi and Jones New York.

Lindsay Lohan Loses Another Fashion Campaign

First Lindsay Lohan was said to be a Louis Vuitton model then that fell through. Next we heard she was in talks with Versace to be the next actress to appear in their ad campaign. WWD reports that instead of adding another actress to their roster that has  already included Demi Moore and Halle Berry, they are going with models. Carolyn Murphy, Daria Werbowy, Angela Lindvall, Christy Turlington and the recently-bumped-from-Chanel Kate Moss. It looks like we will be seeing the return of models over celebrities in more and more fashion campaigns even though there hasn't really been a new supermodel that has energized the fashion scene in a while.
