The New Aureole's Amazing Encyclopedic Wine Selection
Legendary restaurateur Charlie Palmer has re-opened his landmark restaurant Aureole at a new New York City location. Bloomberg reports that the new Aureole, which located near Times Square, has a lot more room, allowing more flexibility in dining options. It has an 18-seat bar, an informal space for 64 diners offering bar food and a fancier 54-seat dining room. It's three places in one. The lure for the oenophile is the incredible wine collection. Palmer has over 16,000 bottles on premises with around 100 bottles under $100 displayed in a wine mezzanine area. To avoid the inevitable moments of indecision that might result from such a wide collection, customers can choose wines at ewinebook.com before arriving at the restaurant. The parallel tasting menu includes diver sea scallop sashimi, slow cooked veal belly, grilled filet of beef, peach tarte tatin and more all paired with a variety of wines. The menu is $115 and the wine pairing is $65.
