Auction Napa Valley 2008, The American Wine Classic, is here and you can be a part of it even if you're nowhere near Napa Valley. The "granddaddy of charity wine auctions" is offering 88 lots for bidding online, including one-of-a-kind bottles and collections, various luxury items, tickets to private events, and even weekend getaways hosted by Napa Valley vitners.
And bidding online will not only indulge your wine habit but it will also support various charities local to the Napa Valley area. The auction opened May 23rd and will run through June 6th.
Last week's star studded charity auction and dinner event at Cannes, raked in a whopping $10 million for amfAR, a leading AIDS research organization. Founded in 1985, amfAR is dedicated to ending the global AIDS epidemic through continued innovative research. Tickets to attend the bash went for $5,000 a person and accounted for a good portion of the evenings earnings. Celebrities in attendance included Madonna who donated her purse complete with it's contents to the evenings auction...it went for a staggering $1.5 million! It's nice to see people coming together with such a successful outcome, $10 million is quite an accomplishment for one evening!

Lavender Trust is an charitable program that helps women dealing with breast cancer. What makes Lavender Trust different than all the other cancer care organizations, is their focus on a younger age group, they work primarily with women around the age of 30 who've been recently diagnosed. reports that IWC Schaffhausen held their annual auction and sold the Big Pilot’s Watch. The watch is one of
1,000 made by IWC in 1940. The watch eventually sold for $42,900 to a U.S. bidder and the proceeds go to the Laureus
Foundation, which helps socially disadvantaged children through sports activities.
