Parrot Cay Villa for auction in Bid to Save the Earth

Last week we reported on the host of international celebrities, creative icons, industry leaders and conservationists joining together with famed auction house Christie's to support the 2011 Green Auction, a momentous live event and companion online auction raising funds and awareness for the preservation and sustainability of the planet.

Christie's has partnered with luxury charity auction site charitybuzz.com to put more than 200 coveted auction packages online from now through April 7 to raise funds for Oceana, the Natural Resources Defense Council, Conservation International and the Central Park Conservancy. Supporters can make a Bid to Save the Earth at www.charitybuzz.com/BidtoSavetheEarth.

A companion invite-only event and live fantasy auction hosted by Seth Meyers will be held at Christie's New York on March 29 in partnership with Vogue's Runway to Green. The event will feature a fashion show sponsored by Tiffany & Co. on the night of the live auction, with designer collection selections available online through Net-A-Porter.com.

In part one of our report on the incredible experiences on offer, we focused on the big ticket items estimated at over $100,000 apiece, including a ride with Harrison Ford on his private plane. Now we're selecting some of our favorite lots across a range of expected prices (N.B.: Lagerfeld and Ducasse are being auctioned off live tonight):

Oldest Bottle of Cherry Heering Up For Auction

cherry heeringA very old bottle of Cherry Heering, considered the original cherry liqueur, is being auctioned off for charity. The 1890 vintage was discovered in the Heering cellars in Denmark where it had been since production more than 120 years ago. Only a few bottles were found, all perfectly preserved in original casks, hand packed in wooden casings. Earlier this year a tasting was organized at The Campbell Apartment in New York with some of the industry's top experts. The blend was discovered to be in immaculate condition.

The bottle is up for auction now through Charitybuzz.com until noon on December 6 and will also be made available to the public via a live auction at Sotheby's New York later that night. The exact value of the rare blend is currently unknown, but is estimated to be worth more than $100,000. All proceeds will benefit the charity organization DIFFA, Design Industries Foundation Fighting Aids.

RSVIP: Women's Wear Daily Toasts 100th Anniversary at Cipriani 42nd Street

Buckle your seat belts, and get ready to clink Bellini flutes with over 1,000 fashionistas. On Tuesday, November 2, WWD, Women's Wear Daily, America's fashion bible, invited their rather extensive and starry inner circle to Cipriani 42nd Street to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the daily publication, including the designing Olsen twins, right.

The drama began that morning at 5:30 a.m., when a 40-ton semi braked at the New York venue to unload original art by John Galliano. After much head-scratching, the elephantine signed canvas-cum-ballgown had to be removed from the stretcher and rolled to make it fit through the doors of the palatial former bank building. Lord knows how the Jeep Grand Wagoneer with faux wooden paneling, auction item lot 22202, with black watch seats designed by Tommy Hilfiger, rolled inside.

But by 6:00 p.m., a forest of fall foliage had taken its place in tall vases papered with the pages of WWD. And the vintage Jeep was parked at the center of a half-acre carpet. A shower of umbrellas decorated with a decoupage of fashion news cascaded down from the 80-foot-high ceiling.

Men and women in white linen jackets soon began taking coats and yet another crisp team passed hors d'oeuvres: croque-monsieur, porcini in phyllo, American caviar, crab canapé, and later, coffee mini éclairs.

Lady Gaga and Terrence Koh Auction Famed Piano

lady gaga pianoTwo young artists who are turning the pop culture world upside down, Lady Gaga and Terrence Koh, joined forces last month in Toyko for GAGAKOH!, a legendary performance at club Tabloid. Only 900 lucky guests got to witness the debauchery. Koh created a one-of-a-kind piano for the event, in his signature white, as well as a five-foot-tall papier-mâché bunny head, a tribute to his spirit animal.

This month, they're auctioning off the piano and bunny head, which is signed by Gaga herself, through CharityBuzz to benefit the Art of Elysium, an amazing organization that encourages leading artists to dedicate their time and talents to kids undergoing serious medical treatments, empowering them through creative outlets. Past supporters of Elysium include Kanye West, Graham Nash, Eva Mendes, Joaquin Phoenix, Elijah Wood, David Lynch, Hugh Jackman, Ben Affleck, and many more.

Koh and Gaga first collaborated for the 2010 Grammys, designing the two-headed piano that Gaga played with Elton John. He has since designed the piano Gaga played for the February AmfAR Gala and most recently the GAGAKOH! instrument. As Gaga and Koh continue to use these 88 pearl designs for her over-the-top performances, here's your chance at obtaining a piece of art and pop culture history, while benefitting a more than worthy organization. Bidding ends Thursday, May 13 at 1 PM EST.

Christie's Green Auction, Saving The Planet Through Art

In celebration of the 40th anniversary of Earth Day this year, Christie's has joined forces with NBC Universal to auction off a host of celebrity experiences, world-renowned art, and luxurious travel packages. In addition to a live inaugural Christie's Green Auction on the 22nd, they've partnered up with Charity Buzz to host an online auction with such prizes as a golf outing with President Bill Clinton or an all-new Lexus Hybrid 250h. And the entire event is carbon neutral. Among the spectacular artwork up for bids is Damien Hirst's All You Need is Jealousy, The Salt Pit by Matthew Ritchie, and a Broken Record Beatles Art collage from our favorite young art duo Robi Walters and Leanne Wright, signed with the support of Sir Paul McCartney himself.

Proceeds will benefit the Central Park Conservancy, Oceana, Conservation International, and the National Resources Defense Council.

Changing the World Through Art: Christie's Time In Benefit

Liya Alfred by Brian Alfred

Christie's own New York gallery outpost Haunch of Venison is hosting a special benefit Monday night for The Time In Children's Arts Initiative, a HiArt! outreach program that is dedicated to bringing arts-inspired curriculum to at-risk schoolkids.

Galleries all over the city and individual artists have donated special works and experience packages to the auction to raise much needed funds, as schools across the city continue to cut their art budgets. Time In has spent the last year immersing Harlem kindergarteners and first graders in art, including gifting them with art supplies to sketch in HiArt! studios or in museums and galleries across the city. It's an inspiring new program that is set to grow exponentially with a little help from New York art patrons.

Waterkeeper Alliance, Charity of the Day

Filed under: Charity of the Day

Today, for the fifth day in our month-long exploration of charitable organizations worthy of your time and money, we are talking about water. Waterkeeper Alliance is an organization that champions clean water and strong communities in a rather unique way, by giving each body of water its own champion. Each Waterkeeper program is headed by a full-time Waterkeeper who is the the public advocate for that body of water. The Waterkeeper is essentially the guardian of the particular watershed and the people who rely on its services. The Waterkeeper Alliance is a coalition of more than 160 local Waterkeepers who patrol and protect their local waterbody, standing up to polluters and guaranteeing everyone's right to clean water. One of the ways to help the Waterkeepers is to become an eAdvocate and sign up for their action alerts.

This week you can also splurge for this good cause. This year,Waterkeeper Alliance has partnered with charitybuzz for an online auction which ends on Dec 7, 2007 which is part of the 16th Annual Deer Valley Celebrity Ski fest. The top lot for the online auction is the Lexus LS 600h L which has a 430+ horsepower V8 full-hybrid engine. Other auction lots include a visit to the set of Law & Order: SVU, a heli-skiing trip for four, lunch with William Baldwin on the set of Dirty, Sexy Money, dinner with Nick Lachey or the chance to go falconing with Robert Kennedy Jr.
