As much as we may love an oversized handbag, sometimes an occasion, or an outfit, calls for a smaller bag that still packs personality. That's when you go for Burberry's Alligator Sling Bag ($14,500).

It's heavily embellished with brass hardware which surprisingly doesn't feel overdone or cheapen the bag's rockstar appeal. However, alligator provides such texture and depth and combined with a warm color palette, Burberry's Sling Bag would be equally exceptional, if not more, without embellishments.

In addition to a rolled shoulder handle, there's also a detachable flat shoulder strap. The interior is lined with sateen and features a zipped pocket. Also available in ink (navy blue) with black metal hardware. Measurements: 15 1/2" L x 7 1/4" H x 1 1/2" W.

The Fashion Statement: The Flock Hops the Pond

New York is still recovering from fashion week and, less than a week later, London fashion week has already come and gone. There's a lot to talk about.

Jude Law sat front row at Sienna Miller's Twenty8Twelve show because he loves her, the actor told WWD. Designer Matthew Williamson also sat front row (Miller returned the favor and warmed the front row for Williamson). Miller, who designs the line with her sister Savannah, sent out lace, embroidery, prints and color designed for a girl on a journey from Mexico to Thailand circa 1950. The collection was inspired by Joni Mitchell's "Don Juan's reckless daughter" album.

Burberry Prorsum Callaway Pleated Leather Bag

This Burberry Prorsum Callaway Pleated Bag is a personal favorite of mine, thanks to the unique combination of textures and the lovely, autumn-inspired shade of purple. Heavily pleated and patterned leather is reigned in via extra-large piping detail around the bag's perimeter. The only other external embellishment is the small designer-embossed plaque on the front and the double top handles (one removable) that flaunt stitching and gold plate embellishments. A basic zippered top closure leads to an interior lined in black designer-stamped satin and both a patch and zippered pocket. $1,895

I'm not sure I know too many occasions where a gold sequined mini dress would be ideal, unless you are Beyonce, but that doesn't discourage me from wanting Burberry's Mini Sequin Dress ($4495) anyway. It features a round neck, short sleeves and a front zipper as decoration. The working zipper is actually in the back. Since this dress is completely decorated in metallic gold sequins and is a bold statement in of itself, there is no need for jewelry or overly embellished heels - this will only serve as a distraction to your shimmering gold masterpiece of dress. Pair with understated stilettos, a sleek ponytail and light yet glowing makeup and viola - you are a rockstar.

Burberry Prorsum Willow Leather Clutch, Handbag of the Day

Described as perfect for spring, this bag is certainly perfect for the current season but I think it will also work wonderfully all year round. Classically neutral and a little flashy, this Burberry Prorsum Willow Leather Clutch does not come with a detachable shoulder strap (a rarity!) but instead a wristlet-like handstrap with a ring on one end. Anthracite scaled metallic leather gives it a beautiful shiny texture, while a fold-over top and magnetic closure make for easy inside access. A must have if you ask me. $995
