Today's home is a new contemporary home in Boulder, Colorado. The home is located on a private lot below Flagstaff mountain and tucked into the hillside. The five-bedroom home is on around three quarters of an acre and has views of the city of Boulder. The use of stone, wood and skylights have contributed to a beautiful home with a naturalistic feel. Architect Sam Austin designed the home, which uses the motif of simple squares over and over to creating a pleasing appearance. This home is listed at $5.9 million.

This might be the most beautiful house in Boulder, Colorado, it's definitely one of the most expensive. The glass home sits on 1.24 acres and backs to the historic Chautauqua Park with views of Boulder, Denver and beyond. The two things that make this five-bedroom home so extraordinary are the ample use of glass walls, and the way that the property's large stone features have been incorporated into the home. The office is particularly striking with a wraparound glass table with wrought iron legs. The property includes a large guest house, patios, sculpture, a small gazebo in the back yard and professional landscaping that includes a stone pathway and viewing vistas. It is listed at $21.9 million.

CAT-430: A Tent With Serious Altitude

For years, cyclists, runners, skiers, triathletes and other aerobic athletes had a choice: they move to high-altitude locales (like Boulder, Colorado) or they could lose.

The reason for this? As you probably know, the thin air at high altitude stimulates production of the oxygen-carrying red blood cells that make aerobic exercise easy.

All this changed in 2002, when Colorado Altitude Training (headquartered, not coincidentally, in Boulder, Colorado) launched its first simulated altitude tent. Suddenly athletes based in Miami, New York, or LA could have the benefits of living at 12,000 feet.

For a mere $7,745, you, too, can get high with the CAT-430, Colorado Altitude Training's walk-in tent.

More than seven thousand dollars may seem steep, but ask yourself: how much is it worth to beat your friends in the local 5k? how much is it worth to rule the Versa-Climber at the gym?

Boulder Amps

Rich Maez, the director of Boulder Amplifiers, sent me a press release for their new entry level 800 series monoblocks. The specs are pretty impressive, and Boulder manufactures some pretty high-end audio amps, so it's nice to see quality trickle down into the more affordable pieces. The 850s, at $5k a pop (you'll need two for stereo, 5 for a decent surround sound setup), push 200w into 8 ohms, plenty for almost any quality speaker. The 800 line will also include a preamp, with an undetermined price as of right now. Their website makes no mention of the 800 series, but I've been assured a website makeover is in the works.
