Alexander McQueen College Bootie
Alexander McQueen's Tan Booties ($1165) uniquely merges various trends to create a breathtakingly gorgeous pair of boots. Small cutouts along the sides outlined in white leather along with lace detailing offer a hint of sophistication and sexiness. McQueen's College Booties are styled in a complementing light caramel leather that accentuates the shape and adornments. A darker color would overpower the accents making them easily overlooked. While a skinny 5 1/3" heel won't fair so well in the snow, they are a perfect match to the boot's overall look.

Derek Lam Daphnee Booties

Taking various shades of Fall and Winter's seemingly favorite color, the Daphnee Booties by Derek Lam ($469) fuses style and comfort. The platform sole adds height without placing pressure on the balls of your feet. You could virtually wear these throughout the day and walk around without ending your day with painful feet.

And as for style, the Daphnee has unexpected touches while maintaining an understated and classic look. Set in dark chocolate leather with contrasting beige felt and a cuffed topline, Lam's versatile Booties would be ideal as your daily go-to comfort shoe. If you'd rather even more minimal look, the Daphnee is also available in black.

Givenchy Tassel Oxford

The oxford shoe has been making a strong comeback for both men and women for sometime now. It's a look that I appreciate and when done right, can look unexpectedly fashionable and expressive. Unfortunately, it's also a shoe that I personally cannot wear - too many bad memories of a strict dress code from my private school days.

But Givenchy's Tassel Oxford Heels ($1650) may just change my mind. It's an unusual shoe with all sorts of adornments that may initially seem out of place but there is something about these oxford heels that feel unique and sophisticated. They're styled in warm burnt orange/chestnut brown suede with grommets, laces, tassels and a back zipper. They would look great styled with toothpick corduroys or cargo pants, and a warm loose fitting sweater.

Heel measurement: 4.7". Also available in black.

Michael by Michael Kors Tatum Bootie

Ah, another pair of brown strappy boots. I can't get enough of them and designers seem to feel the same way. Everywhere I turn, I see a pair of sexy strappy boots to add to my Fall wardrobe want list. What a simple adornment to create an impressive look.

This time we are highlighting the Tatum Buckle Bootie ($380) by Michael by Michael Kors. It's a pair of boots that could be worn daily but still make an impact to your outfit given its decorative straps. The collection of brown straps along Kors' ankle boots makes for a dramatic touch against a rich, dark chocolate brown backdrop.

They feature an almond toe, a platform sole measuring a little over an inch and thick 5" heels. Wear casually with form fitting jeans and an oversized sweater for a "I just threw this on but I look so good" kind of outfit.

Alexander McQueen Faithful Bootie

We are huge fans of virtually everything Alexander McQueen created. And we've covered a host of McQueen's work to show our love and appreciation; from apparel to bags and shoes. Back in July we covered his gorgeous nude De-Manta Tote and now we're featuring shoes to match.

The Faithful Collared Bootie ($1245) is also set in nude and is accented with his signature biker jacket collar inspired fold-over that we have have seen in many of his accessories. Hanging from the functional exposed zipper is a gold logo engraved skull tab and decorative stitching at the heel. McQueen's 5" heeled open toed booties would pair well with slim fitting cargo pants or matchstick corduroys.

Bionda Castana Open Toed Boots

Set in smoky blue grey leather and minimally accented with suede, Bionda Castana's Open Toed Sandals ($689) are unassuming yet fashionably versatile. Its neutral palette lends itself to be complementary to a wide variety of colorful or monochromatic outfits. Skirts, dresses, slim pants and jeans or wide leg trousers would all look great.

Castana's Sandals feature a back zip closure to easily slip on. Along the vamp is a window paned-esque detail that if paired with color tights or socks would make for an unexpected twist to an otherwise serene shoe.

Aperlai Leather & Suede Booties

A classic black ankle boot gets an upgrade with an excess of twisted gill detailing. It's a simple accent that packs a punch while enabling its wearer to maintain a conservative look with a slight edge or pull off a trendy and funky off-the-wall ensemble. The Aperlai Leather & Suede Booties ($1464) are wearable and versatile enough to work either way. They feature an open toe, a heel at just over 4 1/2" and a platform measuring at less than 1/2". The elastic on either side make it easy to slip on and off. These are definitely a pair of ankle boots that you'll have for years to come.

Viktor & Rolf Fur Heel

The approaching fall and winter seasons conjures up thoughts of how to simultaneously stay warm and look great. For many of us, myself included, our priority may fall along the lines of looking great and figuring out the rest later. Viktor & Rolf's Fur Booties ($925) definitely fall in the category of looking stylish but not keeping you warm.

When I initially saw these booties, I was instantly drawn to the warm chestnut brown color. It's a great shade that stands out due to the red undertones but in the same regard blends in well enough with your outfit without creating an over powering look. However, it looks like design duo Viktor & Rolf wanted them to stand out because it's hard not to miss all that fur along the vamp. I can't decide if this feature adds or takes away from the overall look, but it certainly caught my attention. Heel measurement: 4.5"

Alexander Wang Devon Booties

Cutting edge and trend setting designer Alexander Wang has done it again. He is quickly becoming one of my favorite designers. In addition to loving his Bucket Bag, I absolutely love his Devon Sandals ($525)! Its eye catching selling point is the embossed lizard print which beautifully sets these open toed booties apart from the rest. There's suede along the back and part of the heel which works well to compliment a minimal yet adventurous looking shoe. And the color is ideal. Grey acts as an understated and versatile color palette to work from while the lizard print and suede add an extra punch. For the trendsetters, the Devon can effortlessly transition from summer into fall by adding tights or socks – but given the unpredictable weather I do think these can work well into the Fall without them. Heel measurements: 4 1/2".

Kron by KronKron Ruffle Booties

It's a treat to find shoes that are unique and comfortable. Kron by KronKron definitely fits the bill. Store owners and design couple, Hugrún Árnadóttir and Magni Þorsteinsso, head up the Iceland based company KronKron. They're known to create offbeat and playful shoes by combining colors and textures that many may stray away from, but in the few years that they have been in the shoe business, this quality has set them apart from the rest.

Although we've featured one of their understated pairs, these are just as beautiful as and probably more wearable than its colorful counterparts. Made of suede and leather and minimally accented with ruffles all along the vamp and circling around to the back, I especially liked the unexpected dose of beige at the toe. It features a cone heel and a front zippered pull tassel. You could wear them paired with a summer dress for evenings out and it's versatile enough to carry you into autumn with well tailored pants, a great fitting blouse, and a scarf. Originally selling for $480, they are on sale at Kisan Concept Store for only $240.

Seychelles Mamie Bootie

A unique and versatile pair of shoes for the summer, the Seychelles Mamie Bootie ($89) could be a unexpected alternative to gladiator sandals and ballet flats. These nude colored ankle boots have a scalloped outline and eyelet detailing along the edge giving off a feminine and soft look. You could pair them with an understated form fitting dress or a floral pattern summer dress for a funky yet chic look.

Stuart Weitzman Manoman Lace Ups

weitzman cut out lace upsThe designers behind Stuart Weitzman have taken classic oxfords and added an unexpected twist – cut outs. Most likely inspired by the ever popular cut out heels and booties that we have been seeing, the Manoman Lace Ups ($335) are pretty unique. While they may not be the first pair of shoes I gravitate to when getting dressed, it could be fun to try something different and wear them with a dress or a pair of jean shorts, with a slim yet free flowing white tank and a pair of grey socks. The Manonman are also available in black patent leather.

Omelle Estella Apron Pumps

apron pumps
The Omelle's Estella Apron Pumps ($284) are pretty unique looking for a shoe with a muted color and very minimal accents. The designers have combined elements of a boot, pumps and sandals to create a pair of shoes that forces you to look at it from all angles. If you quickly look at the Estella Apron Pumps from the front, you could mistakenly think there is a back to them as though they were a pair of open toed booties. But then from the side, it looks more like a pump with a very tall vamp. If you view from the back you're able to see an ankle strap which is usually seen with sandals. Needless to say, this shoe has many unexpected qualities to it. One of my favorite qualities is the deep chocolate brown cone heel. It's slightly angled in with a small darkened silver metal inset. As an added bonus, with your purchase you receive a pair of honeycomb knit stirrup socks that you can wear with your new shoes.

Chie Mihara To-The-Top Booties

A bow is a sure-fire way to make a piece of clothing or accessory fun and flirty. But, if it's not executed well, it can have the opposite effect and seem like whatever your wearing is better suited for someone much younger.

Thankfully, Chie Mihara has a great design eye. By having three little bows along the vamp against the backdrop of understated brown suede, Mihara's To-The-Top Booties have a well balanced blend of flirty, sexy and fun. It features a hidden snap closure under the top bow which doesn't take away from the overall design and makes it easy to slip on. The To-The-Top Booties also has a 3 ¾" inch heel that gives you some height but these heels are so comfortable that they won't torment your feet. Price: $375
