BMW launches new 2009 Cross Country Mountain Bike
Filed under: Luxury Cars & Autos, Sports

BMW has been putting its name on various high quality and relatively pricey mountain bikes for quite some time now, and the latest edition for 2009 looks to uphold that tradition. Using a hydroformed all-aluminum full suspension frame featuring a tried-and-true 4-bar rocker arm design, the 2009 Cross Country bike from BMW is certainly an attractive machine with its Pearl White paint job and striking red rocker arm.
That rear linkage actuates a Manitou S-Type rear shock with the brand's Stable Platform Valve to eliminate unwanted and energy-sapping compression under hard pedaling. Up front, a matching Manitou R-7 Elite Absolute fork with air spring keeps weight down low. Both front and rear shocks offer 100 millimeters of travel.
Component spec includes a full Shimano XT group, including the hydraulic disc brakes. Fully built-up and ready-to-ride, the 2009 Cross Country comes in at 28.4 pounds (12.9 kilograms) – a bit on the heavy side for a competition-ready cross country mountain bike. Want one? Click here to visit the BMW Online Shop, where the bike is currently available for 2,990 euros ($3,960 in U.S. funds).
