Limited Edition BlackBerry by Bill Amberg

Bill Amberg for BlackBerry, for Selfridges. This exclusive special edition BlackBerry Bold 9780 was created by designer Bill Amberg and although it's available in six colors the yellow, shown here (the backplate) was made exclusively for Selfridges. The backplate features Selfridges' earthy mustard yellow and it comes with a matching leather case that's crafted in Europe and polished until it shines with a sleek lacquered finish. Inside the limited edition phones are the first to come with the new BlackBerry 6 operating system and (I'm assuming) come loaded with a special Bill Amberg theme. Each of the six colors is limited to ten numbered editions, the Selfridges' yellow included. £1000

In October British luggage designer Bill Amberg will launch a new limited edition line of leathergoods in collaboration with Johnnie Walker Blue Label. Johnnie Walker Blue Label by Bill Amberg Studio comprises collection of travel accessories for men that "celebrate the values of craftsmanship, quality and rarity shared by these two iconic brands." The collection centers on a beautifully crafted limited-edition bag, the Weekender (above) which is "bold and masculine in design, capturing the contemporary desire for discreet style and practicality." Made of the finest quality saddle leather in deep navy blue with a bespoke, numbered label, it features a removable carrier designed specifically to hold a bottle of Johnnie Walker Blue Label Scotch Whisky which is included in the bag. Only 350 of the bags will be available worldwide, priced at about $2,000.

I like the idea that this men's bag, the Haircalf Holdall by Bill Amberg, is designed for travel because it assigns an immediate use for the bag. There is no need to cast about for situations in which such an accessory might be appropriate.

A striking piece of craftsmanship, an adaptation of a 1930s style bag, it is made out of brown and ivory haircalf with a smooth, soft leather trim.
