Stubb's Bar-B-Q Marinades and Sauces: A Texas Institution

Stubb's Bar-B-Q, the Texas institution known for its live music, rustic atmosphere and authentic slow-smoked, hand-trimmed barbecue, is a nominee for a Readers' Choice Award for Best Gourmet Sauces.

In the late 1960's, C.B. "Stubb" Stubblefield opened his first restaurant in Lubbock, Texas. The restaurant quickly became a destination for authentic barbeque and live entertainment. Stubbs was ground zero for musicians like Joe Ely and Stevie Rap Vaughn. In the early 1990's, Stubb's Bar-B-Q restaurant relocated to Austin's entertainment district, where it remains today. The restaurant is located downtown on the corner of Red River and 8th Street, housed in a rustic building with a huge backyard that holds thousands nightly for live music and delicious barbeque.

For those not fortunate enough to travel to Austin to enjoy Stubb's legendary mesquite smoked BBQ in person, there's hope. Stubb's offers its famous BBQ sauces, rubs and marinades through its online store.

Outrageous Dragon BBQ Grills

Wow. These Dragon BBQ Grills are one of those things you either love or hate right from the get-go. They're a combination of functional grill and artistic sculpture, with amazing detail. "Intense" is a word that comes to mind, and a definite requirement for owning one is being into dragons in a big way. There are three dragon grills in the collection so far, with the first one already sold for $65,000, the second premiers in Nevada in January and will be listed for $90,000, and the third remains TBA.

Tundra Grill, Father's Day Gift of the Day

The Tundra Grill is definitely a unique piece for the serious outdoor cook. It is based on a design that is used in Lapland, above the Arctic Circle, so it generates a lot of heat and can be used to multiple purposes simultaneously. The main feature is the zinc-coated stainless steel grill is the 37-inch base, which can be fueled by any one of a variety of fuels, including wood, charcoal, pine cones or brushwood. It comes with a grill rack, skewers, and three skillets at different heights (which can be swung away when not in used), that allow for frying or baking in a Dutch-oven. The smoke hood, similar in purpose to those used in professional kitchens, whisks fumes and smoke away from the chef, while also keeping the elements at bay.
