VW Closing Purchase of Porsche. Still Eyeing Alfa-Romeo

porscheGerman automaker Volkswagen this week is expected to complete its long-planned $4.5 billion acquisition of luxury sports car maker Porsche. When the ink is dry, it will formally add Porsche to a brand stable that includes Audi, Bentley, Lamborghini and Bugatti, as well as mass-market brands Volkswagen, Skoda and Seat.

And VW AG supervisory board chairman, billionaire Ferdinand Piech (grandson of Porsche founder Ferdinand Porsche) isn't through trying to add premium and luxury brands. At the Geneva Motor Show this week Piech reiterated his interest in acquiring Italian brand Alfa Romeo, owned by Fiat, despite public statements by Fiat CEO Sergio Marchionne that the marque is not for sale.

Lamborghini Aventador LP700-4 coming to Geneva

Details are trickling in as Lamborghini prepares to unveil its new supercar at the upcoming Geneva Motor Show. The car tentatively known as the Aventador LP700-4 will replace the discontinued Murcielago, and is confirmed to get a new 6.5-liter V12 engine driving 700 horsepower to all four wheels through a new type of ISR transmission and F1-style pushrod suspension that promises to deliver blistering performance.

With the details confirmed, what we're waiting for at this point is the car's design. The spy shot above has been circulating, showing the Aventador in its near-final form but with swirly camouflage disguising its shape. What we can tell is that it will be suitably aggressive in its shape, with edgy angles inspired by the million-dollar Reventon.

Lamborghini Sells More Than 50 Million-Dollar Supercars in Singapore

How far would you go to get your hands on an exotic sportscar before it's even made its debut? According to reports, in Singapore alone over fifty customers have already signed on the dotted line to order the latest Lamborghini that has yet to be shown to the public.

The car in question is tentatively known as the Lamborghini Aventador LP700-4 and was shown to a select group of customers in the Southeast Asian republic before it went on to Hong Kong, China and Japan. The Aventador set to replace the discontinued Murcielago, with an all-new 690-horsepower V12 engine mated to a new kind of transmission that can shift faster than the blink of an eye.

In Singapore the car will reportedly cost SGD $1.5 million (or about $1.14 million in US Dollars). With 2010 drawing to a close, Lamborghini has sold 49 vehicles in Singapore, followed by Ferrari's 39 and Aston Martin's 32.
