RSVIP: Count Down to Oscars, Day One, The Costume Designers Guild Awards And More

drew brees and snoop doggOscar Week, day one: Deja vu. It had only been a matter of weeks since RSVIP, based in Manhattan, traveled to Los Angeles for the SAG Awards. And while snow had canceled my initial flight to the SAG Awards, yet again, at 4:00 a.m on February 21, the streets of Manhattan were freshly blanketed with the slippery white stuff.

Nonetheless, a brave cab driver agreed to head for JFK, and American Airlines was still flying. In fact, the flight landed at LAX in plenty of time for RSVIP to drive a rented Chevy HHR directly to the airport in Santa Monica to catch the Cartoon Network's Hall of Game Awards, taking place that afternoon at Barker Hanger.

Bleachers facing the Astroturf arrivals carpet were filled with shrieking tweens, and on the tail end of the NBA All-Star weekend in Los Angeles, the Hall of Game Awards, hosted by skateboarding legend Tony Hawk, included numerous famous athletes and child stars.

A low-key Drew Brees, left above, wearing dark blue jeans, mentioned to Luxist that he has two sons at home, "a 2-year-old and a 4-month-old." Greg Jennings of the Green Bay Packers wore a black ring, edged with diamonds, with Roman numerals on it. We asked if it was his prize from the Super Bowl. "This is my wedding ring," answered Jennings. "I don't even know if that ring is designed yet."

Demi Moore and Ashton Kutcher Create Handcuff Jewelry for Valentine's Day

Nothing says love like handcuffs? Demi Moore and Ashton Kutcher are the latest celebrity couple to create a jewelry collection. Moore and Kutcher worked with jeweler Jack Vartanian to create a collection of necklaces in the shape of handcuffs. But the cuffs aren't just meant to be provocative, they are also meant to draw attention to a key issue, child sex slavery. Half of the sales will go to the Demi and Ashton (DNA) Foundation, a non-profit organization, to raise awareness about this issue. Prices range from $710 to $2,140 and come in variations of white, yellow and rose gold. some with black or white diamonds. Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie also have a line of jewelry that benefits a children's charity.

Demi Moore & Martha Stewart Party on Russian Billionaire's Megayacht

Filed under: Yachts & Sailing, Events, Wealth

Demi Moore, Ashton Kutcher and Martha Stewart made the New Year's scene in St. Barths as guests of Russian billionaire Andrey Melnichenko aboard his Philippe Starck-designed megayacht 'A' (above). The awe-inspiring 390-ft. craft ranks as the 11th largest yacht in the world and cost an estimated $300 million to build. The celebs were in town for oligarch Roman Abramovich's star-studded New Year's Eve bash featuring the Black Eyed Peas at his lavish estate on the island. While on board the yacht Moore strutted around in a barely-there bikini and caught some rays.

She and Kutcher also played around on the vessel's jet skis. The yacht's interior features $40,000 bath faucets, $60,000 stair banisters, and an all-white, 2,583-sq.-ft. master suite wrapped in bulletproof glass and accessed by a silver-plated staircase with a fingerprint scanner at the door. Key decor accents include Baccarat crystal tables, alligator skin and Kudu horn chairs, stingray skin upholstered walls and hand-stitched leather paneling. Filling the A's gas tanks alone costs $500,000 a pop and running costs come to about $20 million a year.

Teri and Ashton Are the New Faces of Baume and Mercier Watches

Filed under: Timepieces / Watches, Celebrity Shopping

Watch company Baume and Mercier has a tradition of having celebrity ambassadors who appear in their print ads that are part of the "Baume & Mercier & Me" campaign. The 2008 ambassadors will be Teri Hatcher and Ashton Kutcher. Past ambassadors have included Meg Ryan, Kiefer Sutherland, Kim Basinger and Gary Sinise. For the new campaigns all royalties that would go to the actors and their photographers are donated to charities chosen by the actors and the watch brand. Teri's campaign starts on January 1 with Ashton's campaign starting on April 1. Is it just me or does Ashton Kutcher seem like an odd choice to front this campaign. He's easy on the eyes, certainly, but seems to lack a certain gravitas necessary for a luxury watch campaign.
