Absolut Chooses The Flavor Of Boston

What is the flavor of Boston? Boston has become the third city to be chosen by Absolut Vodka to get its own flavor. Like the old Absolut ad above, it celebrates Boston's history with a little tea. The limited edition flavor will be black tea and elderflower vodka in a glass bottle that has a backdrop that is reminiscent of Fenway Park's infamous Green Monster. As part of the launch Absolut will display a "Wall of Pride" on Boylston Plaza at the Prudential Center for 10 days. The wall features quotations from famous Bostonians including sports stars and celebrities. Individual tiles will later be auctioned off to raise money for the Charles River Conservancy. Previous Absolut flavors include black pepper and mango in New Orleans and pomegranate, blueberry, acerola cherry and açai berry for Los Angeles.

Absolut Vodka's latest adventure in packaging is celebration of rock music. The Absolut Rock Edition will go on sale next month at Selfridges of London before becoming more widely available in October. Absolut collaborated with designer Natalia Brilli to create the leather and studs design. To celebrate the bottle the vodka company held a launch event in Berlin showing guitars and other Natalia Brilli designs. Music at the event included Wolfmother, Smith & Drums and DJ Alex.

Absolut Creates Online Art Gallery For Helmut Lang

Absolut, which has a history of supporting art projects has created a new online virtual "gallery" showcasing Helmut Lang's "Alles Gleich Schwer". The online gallery will exist for three months at Absolut.com/HemultLang. In the gallery you can zoom in on pieces and look at them from different angles. From the site you can also download and print exhibition posters. It's an interesting experiment and it seems suited to Helmut Lang's first solo institutional art exhibition which showcases the same lean, angular and industrial aesthetic seen in his fashion lines.

Kanye West Spoofs Self in Absolut Vodka Ads

Endless self-promoter Kanye West -- who proves he has a sense of humor about himself after all -- spoofs his persona in a new line of Absolut ads. The first time I saw the print ad (which looked like, but didn't have the Absolut references, what you see here), I didn't get it at all, and I had no idea what was being advertised. A little research showed me the light. I can't show you much here, since you need to be 21 to get into these sites. Log on and check them out for yourself. And don't lie about your age -- it's bad karma.

Absolut Disco

Last year Absolut's holiday packaging was all about gold and bling. This year they've gone even flashier with the Absolut Disco. The one-liter Absolut Disco gift pack is built of exactly 1,000 reflecting prisms which serve as a bottle package and can be put into use as a disco ball. The Absolut Disco is a clamshell package that opens to reveal the bottle. The empty gift pack has a loop for hanging.

Absolut New Orleans

At the Tales of the Cocktail festival this week in New Orleans a new version of Absolut vodka is being launched. The festival is an annual event celebrating the art of mixology. For the first time, the Swedish vodka company is naming a flavor for a city. Absolut New Orleans is mango-flavored with a black pepper kick. The flavor is meant to capture the unique spirit of the city. The vodka will be a limited run of 35,000 cases and will sell for $19. The best part of the new is that the vodka is expected to raise $2 million for five Gulf Coast charities. Future city vodkas with a similar charitable aspect are planned for the future.

Absolut Bling Bling

To sell more of your product during the holidays, it's a good idea to bring out a limited edition version of it. It's an even better idea to add some bling and make sure it appeals to luxury buyers who are more likely to splurge on extra-fancy packaging at this time of year. Absolut Bling Bling is a limited edition repackaging of some classic Absolut vodka and is being sold in a gift pack as of the beginning of this month. Unfortunately for most US buyers, Absolut Bling Bling is not available at retail stores in the states (not according to the Absolut website, anyway), but you might be able to track it down at a duty free shop or a liquor store in another country if you're going to be doing some traveling.
