Ernest Hemingway Rolls Royce To Be Auctioned In Indiana

Filed under: Luxury Cars & Autos, Auctions, Celebrity Shopping

The vehicle in which Ernest Hemingway toured the country while writing and publishing such American greats as A Farewell to Arms, The Fifth Column and the First Forty-Nine Stories, and Death in the Afternoon will be auctioned off at Kruse International Auburn Spring MotorFair, held May 31 - June 3 in Auburn, Ind.

The 1929 Phantom II Short Coupled Saloon Rolls-Royce is reportedly in pristine condition, not leaving storage for the past 20 years, though it did make cameos at shows such as the '06 Amelia Island Concours and Pinmar, where it won the title of "Best Post War Automobile," as well as several documentaries and news features, such as those with the Miami Herald and CNN.com. It comes with beverage, golf and hunting storage compartments.

A 1968 movie car from Chitty Chitty Bang Bang will be one of 2,000 other autos joining the Rolls at the auction.
