BMW Individual 7 Series Composition by Steinway & Sons

Filed under: Luxury Cars & Autos

Anyone who's ever bought a grand piano knows that they can cost as much as a car. Sometimes more. Now BMW has returned the favor with a special-edition luxury sedan.

Called the 7 Series Composition, the unique vehicle is a joint effort between BMW Individual and Steinway & Sons. It features either black or white paint specially applied with a three-layer clear coat, a gold pinstripe and special 20-inch wheels. The interior meanwhile is trimmed in merino leather (black or white to contrast the exterior), lambswool carpets, Alcantara headliner, special embroidery, and of course piano black trim.

No word on pricing, but the special trim level can be ordered on any model in the 7 Series range.

BMW 7 Series by Lumma Design

Filed under: Luxury Cars & Autos

The 7 Series already stands at the top of the BMW range as it is, but for those looking for a little something special, Lumma Design has released an aftermarket modification kit packed with carbon fiber. The package includes a new front bumper with integrated LEDs, a quad-tip exhaust system, new grille, door handles and side mirrors, along with 22-inch wheels mounted with ultra low-profile tires.

Porsche, Rolls-Royce, Jaguar, BMW and Infiniti Modifications from Wald International

Filed under: Luxury Cars & Autos

One at a time, fellas. That's how most aftermarket tuners approach their projects. But not Wald International. The Japanese tuning house is launching a new line of modifications for some of the most eminently desirable luxury sedans and "four door coupes" on the market, all at once.

Included in the line-up are none other than the Porsche Panamera, Jaguar XJ, BMW 7 Series, Infiniti M and the Rolls-Royce Ghost, just for good measure. Little in the way of details have been announced, but from the images you can see in the gallery below, it appears Wald has fitted each with new front bumpers, side skirts, spoilers and wheels mounted to lowered suspensions.

Tokyo 2009: Alpina B7 Bi-Turbo Long Wheelbase

Filed under: Luxury Cars & Autos

The Alpina B7 Bi-Turbo Long Wheelbase is for when merely long isn't long enough. There is already an Alpina B7 based on the normal wheelbase BMW 750i, and that car is 16.7 feet long -- but come now, what are you supposed to do with that? Curl up into the fetal position when you want to go somewhere? Take classes at Cirque du Soleil so you can contort yourself into a rear cabin that offers a meager 38.4 inches of rear legroom?

No. What you do is buy the long wheelbase version built on the 750Li. It adds six more inches in back so you can stretch out -- you know, live like a real person, not some frightened armadillo. Your discernment will be rewarded with Alpina's fettled version of BMW's 4.4-liter V8, adding a couple of turbos for 507 horsepower and 516 lb-ft. of torque. That gets you and your white whale sixty in 4.8 seconds, just 0.1 second longer than the guy in a regular wheelbase B7.

But it's not like either of you will notice: you'll be too busy trying to finalize your hostile takeover of Samoa, he'll be too busy trying to figure out how to extricate himself from his Lilliputian conveyance. Alpina hasn't announced pricing, but if you want one, here's our advice: bring a lot of money.

Rimowa: Luxury Cars Have Needs, Too!

Filed under: Gadgets, Luxury Travel & Hotels

Rimowa cases --the Cristal of luggage -- have more than 100 years of experience under their belts. Now that they've figured out that if you make high-dollar luggage, you should do it for high-dollar customers and their high-dollar cars.

To this end, Rimowa is now pimping made-to-measure car luggage sets. The cars they're targeting?  BMW (5 series and 7 series), Audi (A6 and A8), and Mercedes (E and S class).

The company claims that "each of the exclusive sets is perfectly tailored to the standard empty car boot of these models" ("boot" here clearly being an expensive way to say "trunk").

To which I say: '89 Tercel drivers, are you going to take this?!
