Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano Comte Noir by Graf Weckerle

Filed under: Luxury Cars & Autos

A German tuning house has started up, and their claim to fame is intricately crafted wheels with a fleur-de-lis pattern. The ones on this Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano, called the Comte Noir edition, take 20 days to make, forged as they are from titanium and aluminum.

Graf Weckerle has also given the Ferrari a boost in output from 620 horsepower to 835, along with suspension upgrades. The result is the Comte Noir edition – French for "black count" – and it's available for order now.

Million-Dollar Ferraris and More at Gooding & Co. Auction in Arizona

Filed under: Luxury Cars & Autos, Auctions

It's not every day that a car like the Ferrari FXX Evoluzione goes up for auction. Or a Maserati MC12. Or a Ferrari F40, F50 or 333 SP, for that matter. But these and more are set to cross the auction block in a star-studded line-up presented by Gooding & Company.

The collection of the late Benny Caiola includes the aforementioned FXX (estimated at $2.2-2.5 million), MC12 ($1.1-1.4 million), 333 SP ($800,000-1 million), F40 ($475,000-550,000) and F50 ($750,000-850,000), along with an F430 Challenge race car ($125,000 - $150,000) and 430 Scuderia ($215,000-240,000), 599 HGTE ($275,000-315,000) and 1973 Ferrari Dino ($160,000-180,000) plus a Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren Roadster ($240,000-325,000) and Lamborghini Gallardo LP 560-4 ($175,000-225,000) for good measure.

The most notable (and valuable) of the collection, the FXX and MC12 are both based on the iconic Ferrari Enzo supercar, but optimized for performance on the race track, while the 333 SP was the last Le Mans Prototype ever built by Ferrari. It's a rare collection to be sure, one that promises to bring in upwards of $7 million in sales when the auction kicks off on January 21 in Scottsdale, Arizona.

A Closer Look at the Ferrari 599 GTO

Filed under: Luxury Cars & Autos

Claiming the mantle of the fastest Ferrari ever made is no mean feat. And this is the car that did it: the new 599 GTO. Reviving the stoic nameplate from the 60s-era 250 GTO and the 80s-era 288 GTO, the new ultimate Ferrari packs a 660-horsepower, 6-liter V12 – an improved version of the engine originally developed for the Enzo – for a 3.3-second 0-60 run.

Unfortunately only 559 examples will be built, each fetching a price upwards of €300,000. So your best chance of seeing one very well may be in the new gallery of images which Ferrari has released.

Ferrari Expected to Unveil 599 Roadster at Pebble Beach

Filed under: Luxury Cars & Autos

The Ferrari 599 has only been in production for about four years now, but it has already spawned a seemingly endless array of derivatives: the original GTB Fiorano, the track-focused 599XX, the all-conquering GTO, the tweaked HGTE, the China limited edition, the one-of-a-kind P540 Superfast Aptera and the HY-KERS concept. But before the model is replaced altogether, Ferrari is anticipated to unveil one last version at the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance this coming August.

Following in the footsteps of the 550 Barchetta Pininfarina and the 575M Superamerica, the 599 convertible will be a limited edition at the top of the Ferrari range. We'll have to wait and see what kind of convertible roof mechanism the always innovative sportscar-maker employs for the exclusive roadster, but the company's chairman Luca di Montezemolo says it will carry an "emotional, romantic name such as Italia or Fiorano".

Limousines and Supercars Debut at Beijing Motor Show

The gulf between perception and reality is often enough to swallow entire countries whole. Take China, for example. The images many still conjure up in their heads when thinking about the Asian giant might come down to squalid shanty towns oppressed by communist overlords. But with the free market taking a greater hold with each passing day, the People's Republic is quickly emerging as a vital market for purveyors of luxury goods, including high-end automobiles. Sure, the average peasant may be able to afford little more than a rickety bicycle, but with the world's largest population numbering over a billion people, even the top fraction of the socio-economic strata can overshadow entire nations.

Against such a backdrop, it should come as no great surprise that the world's premium automakers scrambled to the Chinese capital this year with a wide array of exotic and luxury automobiles. In fact the cars making their world debuts at this year's Beijing Motor Show were enough on their own to outshine the last major international exposition in Manhattan. Follow the jump to see what all the fuss was about.

Leaked Price Sheet Forecasts the $430,000 Ferrari 599 GTO

Filed under: Luxury Cars & Autos

ferrari price sheetIt's usually only prospective customers who get to the stage that they're shown the full pricing list for a new supercar. For them, price is generally no object. But the options list with full pricing has apparently leaked onto the internet before the actual car has in this case.

What we're dealing with here is the Ferrari 599 GTO. The ultimate iteration of the 599 GTB Fiorano, the GTO revives a nameplate made famous on the 288 GTO from the 1980s and the highly coveted 250 GTO from the 1960s. You can bet Ferrari has been hard at work turning the V12 gran turismo into a performance machine worthy of those three magic letters, but you can also expect it to cost rather dearly.

The base price for the 599 GTO, according to the leaked document, comes in at 319,495 euros, or nearly $430,000 in American funds. But if you want something as frivolous as, say...four-point racing harnesses to keep you and your lucky passenger in place for the ride, that'll cost you another 2990 euros, or nearly four grand. Full leather or Alcantara micro-suede interiors are also available at 4425 euros ($6k) and 3708 euros ($5k) respectively. The list goes on and on, and you can check it out by clicking the thumbnail image to view in full.

Keep in Tune with the Novitec Rosso Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano

Filed under: Luxury Cars & Autos

We can imagine the frustration. You a third of a million dollars on a new Ferrari, then you pull up in front of your favorite restaurant and there are three more just like it. So what do you do? Novitec will help you out. The Dutch tuning house has made its reputation on modifying Maranello's finest. And since the 599 GTB Fiorano has been on the market for a few years already, the company's dedicated Ferrari tuning division, Novitec Rosso, has already had a go at the flagship V12 supercar. But not everyone is on the market for a twin-supercharged 800-horsepower monster. So Novitec has now released a more moderate package for the Fiorano.

Novitec's Stage 3 kit for the 599 keeps it simple with a modification to the engine control system and a new exhaust to boost power up by 40 prancing horses, for a total of 660. They've also fitted an adjustable suspension, 21" wheels, a carbon fiber aerodynamic package and offer a full range of options for customizing the interior as well. Prices start at 10,490 Euros, on top of the base car's $302k list price.

More Details and Photos on Ferrari's Experimental 599XX Supercar

Filed under: Luxury Cars & Autos

At a company as high-end as Ferrari, all customers are equal, but some are more equal than others. Those ones are the customers who get to participate in the company's exclusive XX development programs. And by "get to", we mean fork over a couple of million to play factory test driver with their own track-focused machinery. The initiative launched a few years ago with the FXX, a supercar based on the Enzo but with all sorts of added experimental technology which Ferrari has been toying with in the effort to make their incredibly fast cars go even faster. The FXX Evoluzione followed, with an even more extreme package, but at last months' Geneva Motor Show, Ferrari took the wraps off an altogether different beast: the 599XX.

Based on the all-conquering 599 GTB Fiorano, the 599XX features a host of modifications to its drivetrain and aerodynamics to turn an already phenomenal performance machine into a fire-breathing monster. Ferrari has only now released official details and photographs, revealing some of the advancements developed for the 599XX: thanks to reduced inertia, the V12 engine can rev up to 9000 rpm and produce 700 horsepower. The carbon-fiber brakes keep everything in check, while active aerodynamics ensure that the car has the optimal effect, reducing drag at high speeds while increasing downforce for cornering. As a result, the 599XX is faster around the race track than any roadgoing Ferrari in existence, and faster even than some of the company's race cars.
