Edox Watches To Be Featured In Spiderman 4 Movie

A statement from Swiss Edox watches indicates that their timepieces will be featured in the upcoming fourth installment of the Spiderman movie series. Initially set back due to delays, Spiderman 4 is slated for release in 2012, and will feature a new cast. Tobey Maguire departs as new lead Andrew Garfield will play Spiderman with Emma Stone playing opposite him as Mary Jane. According to Edox, each member of the cast will be able to choose an Edox timepiece themselves to wear in the film.

I was relatively surprised to hear this news as it would seem groups with a lot more money might vie for their timepieces to be in the film. The Richemont Group is known to pay big money for product placements in movies such as Ironman 2 and Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps. As a small brand, it is interesting to see Edox being chosen for inclusion in the film. It does make sense though - as Edox watches are much more affordable than many other Swiss watches costing maybe a couple thousand dollars versus tens of thousands of dollars. Seen above is a newer Edox Les Beomts Ultra Slim that is said to be among the watches in the film. Look out for Edox watches in Spiderman 4 next year.

MB&F HM4 Thunderbolt Watch Coming Soon

July 7th will be the date when popular independent watch maker MB&F will release their fourth major timepiece creation, the Horological Machine Number 4, also known as the Thunderbolt. The watch is thematically inspired by the classic military plane, the A-10 "Warthog." When the final images are released, you'll be able to see the collection. While I can't show you final images of the watch now, I do have a special teaser shot for you, as well as exclusive images of the HM4 engine movement that I was able to take. The HM4 is a dream watch fro Max Busser, the founder of MB&F. The concept is beautiful, and for him, the design represents exactly what the brand is attempting to portray. The watch will have two crowns, one for winding the watch and the other for adjusting the time. I really can't say much more than that. The movement is manually wound, and almost every part of the watch and movement were custom made. This will be a seriously beloved piece for MB&F devotees, as well as new fans to the brand. Just a few weeks until all of the MB&F HM4 Thunderbolt watch is officially released.

Franck Muller Aeternitas Mega 4: Ups State Of World's Most Complex Watch

Another year and another "world's most complicated watch." Also the 4th in the coveted Franck Muller Aeternitas watch series of high complex watches that are either amazing looking or ludicrous looking - depending on how you see it. The financially troubled brand is putting the finishing touches on this limited series (of no specific disclosed amount) watch (even though the first of them was already finished and presented to an American watch collector recently at a dinner). Inside are a whopping 36 complications! I am not going to list them all here, but you can consult with the image in the gallery below for a spec sheet of the various functions that it has. 25 of the 36 complications are visible on the dial. Franck Muller is surprisingly brief on the details. We don't know materials or size of the watch yet. I would imagine that it is on the larger side though. The movement has 1,483 parts to it! Wow, talk about complex and fragile. The watch took 5 years to design.

Some functions include, but are not limited to, a monopusher split-second chronograph (no idea how that is done with one button), a 1000 year calendar, very accurate equation of time (between solar and clock time), complex sonnerie chiming functions, multiple timezones, moon phase indicator, and of course, more. The obvious competitor to the Aeternitas Mega 4 watch is the recently released Jaeger-LeCoultre Hybris Mechanica Grande Sonnerie watch. While the Hybris Mechanica only has 25 complications, it is arguably more pleasing to the eyes. Plus, for a bit less price you get three watches and a fancy safe.

The Franck Muller Aeternitas 4 watch is the high horology equivalent of a fancy Texas Instruments graphing calculator. Sure it does a lot and it gets us mechanical nerds excited, but it isn't going to get you any action from the ladies (but sharing with them the price tag of $2.7 million might).
