Did Tiger Woods Pay $65 Million in the Hamptons?

At the start of the month, the NY Post's legendary real estate columnist Braden Keil reported on a $65 million sale of an estate in the Hamptons. Now he has said that the exclusive six-acre estate on the enviable Gin Lane has been purchased by Tiger Woods and his wife Elin. The property is anchored by a 3,200-square-foot Colonial Revival main residence, a 7,500-square-foot guesthouse and a four-car garage with staff quarters. We covered the property as an estate of the day in January.

But did Tiger really buy this home? The agent for the property, Beate Moore of Sotheby's International Realty tells Newsday's Laura Mann that Tiger did not buy the property and Radar says they have talked to Tiger Woods's reps who also confirm that Tiger has not bought this property. It's no longer listed so someone did buy, we'll just have to wait for property records to solve this mystery.

Locksley Hall, Estate of the Day

Locksley Hall made Forbes' list of the most expensive homes in America this year with a list price of $65 million. It is located across the Golden Gate Bridge from San Francisco in the exclusive Belvedere area of Marin County. Its location right on the bay is highly desirable, in a place where both land and coastline are at a premium, not to mention that it allows the residents to be treated to world-class views of the bay area.

UPDATE: Three years later and this home is now listed at $48 million.

$65 Million in San Francisco, Estate of the Day

We've seen the big prices in New York but now let's take a look at a big listing on the other side of the country. The mansion shown here on Broadway in San Francisco was originally sold for $32 million back in 2002 and is now on the market for $65 million. Yes, that's right $65 million. What do you get for your money? Two homes, a  17,500-square-foot limestone main home and 5,000-square-foot guest house which are still under construction.  Details on the listing are slim but one thing isn't for certain, no acreage. And even though it has been said that the current owner Peter Sperling (the son of the founder of the University of Phoenix) has put  $18 million into construction, the rumor is that it will take another  $8 million to $16 million to finish it (that explains why there are no interior listing pictures). After the jump, more exterior shots and one of the gorgeous view.

[Thanks, Rob!]
