Where on Earth? Week 18 {Gadling}

Aug 2nd 2007 9:39PM The picture is about a year and half old (and thus the wrong season), but this is what it looks like now.

I had an inkling from the picture provided, but the angle hid the distinctive part of the building behind that kiosk (which is now different also.)

Toddler served booze at Applebee's {Slashfood}

Jun 19th 2007 8:13PM I had a buddy who worked at Applebees and a co-worker there got fired when a 6 year old kid ordered a "Rookie Magic" (Oreo shake) and ended up with a "Cookie Magic" (Oreo shake w/ Kahlua and some other liqeuers).

President Putin fixes Russia's traffic congestion, for about an hour {Autoblog}

Jun 14th 2007 7:02PM The traffic jam example picture looks like it was taken from the upper floors of the Smolenskiy Passazh building. The tan building on the left is the SW-corner of the MID (Ministry of Foreign Affairs, equivalent to our State Dept).

And while it is common for the traffic to really be that bad, it's not true that it's like that 24/7. On example is before 9am on a Saturday morning, when you can have a 20 lane boulevard mostly to yourself and do 80+ mph through the middle of town without a second thought. (Especially when you have red Diplomatic plates!) It's the closest I've ever come to re-creating 'Need for Speed' in real life. ;)

But it is quite a shock to see the roads completely empty. The only time I ever saw it was during the Victory Day celebration (May 9), when it was closed for a bike race. You can see my surprise here..

Extreme Holiday Shopping III: Bugatti EB110 SS Le Mans {Autoblog}

Dec 10th 2006 6:57PM Saw that car in person back in Oct.. their showroom is car geek's wet dream. No one theme either, all sorts of different cars.

(Unfortunately, with low light and no tripod, the slow shutter speeds were a challenge..)

Hepburn's Dress Brings $807,000 at Auction {Luxist}

Dec 6th 2006 11:32PM Could that picture evoke the grace and charm of Audrey Hepburn any less? Next thing, you'll tell me they chose Jennifer 'Jugs' Hewitt to play our favorite petite sprite in a biographical movie about her.

Oh. Damn that.
