When are the most dangerous times to be on the road? {Autoblog}

Jan 24th 2009 12:57AM The problem with Saturdays is that people are often away from their locals neighborhoods and familiar routes. Most peoples driving skill are not that great so they get in unfamilar places and this bites they in the posterior. Going to work and back they cover the same route everyday. They know the more dangerous intersections, light cycles, blind corners so they can be lax in their awareness and can survive the daily commute. But once away from their locals when good driving skills should take over it doesnt. The dont plan their routes, dont have a clue where they are going and they are the one with 12 cars behind them as they plod down the street looking on both side of the street for some place that actually a couple of blocks over.

Federal loan conditions: UAW can't strike against GM {Autoblog}

Jan 10th 2009 4:30AM The worst thing about these bailouts is that they probably wont fix the problems that brought them to this crossroads in the first place . Too many models and even though they have improved, the lack of quality, long term of there vehicles. Remember when they first put disc brakes on the back of there pickup trucks and there were lots of failures. What did GM do, basically give it's customers the finger. This kind of attitude has been prevalent in Detroit way back to the Pinto gas tank go boom days. And they wonder why people move on to other non-domestic manufacturers and why they get no sympathy from the car buying public on their current economic problems.
Of course the thing that people forget is that if GM dies it does not do it in isolation. There are many parts suppliers that would be effected just as drastically as GM. And these suppliers supply everybody. Yes even imports. So the devastation would be much greater.

Beloved Cookbooks Document Decades of Meals {Slashfood}

Jan 4th 2009 11:29AM Firstly I should say there gems out there but there are some real dog's breakfast recipes on the internet.
Some just stink.
I either save them in my recipes folder as a html file or convert them to .doc.
The thing I like about a computer for cooking is the ability to generate a copy of the recipe through the printer than can be spilled on, burnt, ripped and consumed by the family pet yet it doesnt affect the orig.. I scan those recipes out of books for the same reason.

Dec 24th 2008 1:24AM From what I understand in the upper models the diesel in subaru's is nothing to write home about. Mileage isnt bad but lacks torque.
