Aug 4th 2009 2:47PM "Work of FICTION" In my world that means "not real" or "not fact". This story, real or fiction, needs to be only viewed in the context in which it was created. To try to apply it to today's values is unreasonable. But, in any event, the lesson should not be lost. What this man did, in his time and place, took tremendous courage whether real or fiction. Lighten up folks!
Jul 16th 2009 3:45PM "...most couples and families are different these days..." I believe this is at the very core of many of the problems our country faces today. If so called "traditional" family stucture remained in tact how much better things would be. If families remained in multi-generational homes we would not have to rely on so many imports of so many things. Families would take care of their own first. I could go on and on but I'll forgo further elaboration in this forum. That statement just hit a nerve.
Jul 16th 2009 2:57PM I love the comment that points out that homosexuality has been around in humans long before organized religion. He also points out that it's quite common in animals too! What's neglected to be pointed out is that humans are animals. And what happens to homosexual animals of any species at the hands, claws and teeth of their own kind? Point that out please.....
Jul 16th 2009 2:42PM When do adolescents ever see anything beyond the superficial anyway? This is one of the problems of letting youth have so much say about anything. They lack the insight, wisdom and appreciation for what can only be gained through experience. And you KNOW how much young people HATE to listen to experience and wisdom that's not their own or coming from an older person.
Jul 16th 2009 2:36PM What's so hard to understand? Homosexuality is genetic which means it's a birth defect. It's not normal. It deviates from the normal established by nature aka biology and is therefore, by definition, "deviant". I'm not a hater or a bigot or whatever, that's just fact, the way it is. I won't apologize if you don't like it. You just have to accept the facts. I don't hate homosexuals, I understand and accept them for who they are.
Jul 10th 2009 9:26AM I had a bear on my deck this spring. I was about four or five feet from it, inside of course, and watched it for about half an hour. Pretty cool. My neighbor had two of them jumping on the side of the house next to the door. Not too much of a problem except for the fact that they were hitting the doorbell at 3 in the morning!
Jul 9th 2009 10:18AM If you REALLY want racism to go away STOP BRINGING IT UP AND MAKING IT AN ISSUE EVERYWHERE. Discriminate equally. It happens......get over it.
As to the billboard itself, do like Vermont did and pass a law against billboards. Then you won't have to bicker over any of them and it significantly improves the scenery.
Jul 6th 2009 2:01PM What should have been done is; the money should have been given to you and me, not to big business where they want us to spend our money. If they gave every household $500K here's what I would have done with it: First, pay taxes on it. That would put about 1/3 right back into the treasury. Second, I would have bought an american vehicle, probably a truck. Third, I would have hired a contractor to put an addition on my house. The bottom line is, the jobs would be where I SPEND MY MONEY, not where you want them to be. The wide range effect would be huge and really stimulate the economy where it counts, at home FIRST.
Jul 2nd 2009 11:57AM It really burns me that we continue to support able-bodied people on state benefits while jobs exist that they could do but chose to not do. So the illegals come along and take those jobs and then folks whine because the illegals are taking jobs from Americans. HUH? And to really put the icing on the cake, my State representatives work so hard to accommodate the illegals by giving them MY social security benefits and others, while finding other ways to allow them to stay without penalty for breaking the law!!! Ship their collective asses home until and unless they can come here legally!
Jul 1st 2009 9:13AM If we believe in and support the concept of "free speech" then it's all good. I believe it's better to know what's out there, right up front, than to have to sit back and wonder or have it manifest in some more, potentially damaging, form. We all have control over what we subject ourselves to even when we don't have control over what's out there.
