Ursula Stephen: Shear Genius Behind Rihanna's Hair {Blackvoices Main}
Jun 19th 2008 8:54PM I just moved to Kansas City, and from the looks of some of the women I have seen, it looks like NO ONE is in to hair here. Help! Are there any exceptional black hair stylist in Kansas City? Please hook a sista up!
Run That By Me Again: Tracey, Perez & Whoopi {BV Newswire}
Mar 3rd 2008 4:08PM Wow! It is amazing how much some of you know about people who you don't even know, and will most likely never meet. A wise man once said: "Small minds discuss other people" and my gift to all of you is: If you haven't made your first MILLION yet, STOP wasting precious time take inventory of other peoples lives. STOP spreading lies and vicious rumors and get yourself some damn business. Get busy building your own empire so that at the end of the day you are too exhausted to give a damn about who is screwing who, what, and why. Tracy, Johnny, and Eddie are gonna be alright because they got theirs. Now it's your turn!!!
Did Keyshia Cole Find Her Father? {Blackvoices Main}
Dec 12th 2007 6:19PM Frankie was a horrible mother- possibly the world's worst, and she needs to realize that no amount of screaming, crying and carrying on like a deranged fool is going to change the fact that she was not there for any of her 7 kids. What she can and should do now, is be the good mother that she wishes she could have been. Be a POSITIVE role model for your kids and grandkids NOW, and they will eventually come to respect you and maybe even forgive you for past mistakes. Overall, good show. Can't wait for the DVD.
Did Keyshia Cole Find Her Father? {Blackvoices Main}
Dec 12th 2007 3:05PM Definetly the REALEST reality show that's been produced so far. I watched the show last night, and it was every bit as explosive as the previews have been promising for the last two weeks. I already knew that man was not Keisha's father, because she was on the Tyra Banks show last month and said that her father was an Italian man who died before she was born.
It broke my heart that Neffee went ahead and had the abortion. I know she's been going through alot with the breakup of her marriage and everything, but to me, terminating her pregnancy was an extemely selfish act on her part. It was all in an effort to try and save her marriage to a man who has already made it clear that he does NOT want her. I just pray that Neffe can live with the decision to end her baby's life, and that it does not come back to haunt her like so many of the spur-of-the moment decisions she has made in the past, like having a threesome with her cousin and her husband. I am rooting for Keisha and everyone in her family to be successful, but they need to keep an eye on Frankie and her drinking because if not, it may not be too long before she starts getting high again.
JAY-Z: Smell What the 'Roc' Is Cooking {BV Newswire}
Nov 6th 2007 6:43PM Way to work those power moves, Jay! I'm a huge fan, so I'll be first in line when it comes out- but just make sure it smells YOUNG and FRESH. Because honestly, when I think of Elizabeth Arden I think of old white ladies and that old school perfume they used to make called "Blue Grass" that my grandmama used to wear to church on Sundays.
Adrianne Curry Doesn't Care for BET ... or Blacks {Blackvoices Main}
Sep 25th 2007 10:31AM Yo, Adrianne! If you're REALLY serious, why don't you go on a hunger strike? By day 30, television crews would be beating down your door to get an exclusive interview on your "controversial" views.
You will be invited to speak on panels, talk shows, and maybe even get the cover of a couple magazine's.
That is what you hope to gain from this, isn't it?
Man! I can just see it now. Who knows what heights this thing could take you to if you play your cards right. HAH! Good luck! First of all, NOBODY gives a fuck what you think. Your 15 minutes were up years ago. GO AWAY!
NOTABLE/QUOTABLE: Fantasia {BV Newswire}
Aug 28th 2007 5:56PM The point Fantasia is trying to make is that being called "Ugly" all day, everyday is debilitating to the self-esteem. Whether it's playacting or not, that negative energy is still being directed towards her, and lets face it, you have to look a certain way to even be cast in the role of Celie in the first place. Do I think Fantasia is ugly? No! But beauty is subjective, and it depends on who's looking at you. This is tragic to me, because the whole point of the role and the story of "The Color Purple" is self-love and acceptance, and for Fantasia to have played this role for so long and still not get that, is sad.
Fantasia, I love you baby girl. Keep your head up!
OMAR TYREE: 'The Last Street Novel' {Blackvoices Main}
Apr 30th 2007 7:10PM Boy! Omar sure is one cocky S.O.B., which isn't a bad thing if you have the skills to back it up, which in my opinion, Mr. Tyree does not. Over the years, I have given the brother's book chance after chance, but they always fall short for me, and I always end up disappointed. Good concepts, but poor execution.
By the way, Donald Goines and IceBerg Slim started that gangster S#it, and Sister Souljah picked up where they left off. Sorry Omar, you can NOT take credit for starting the urban fiction craze.
